After calculating and sending the table above to UBA, they have come with a new song saying that the excessive charge was done by Mastercard and not by them.

Contact Mastercard. Provide them with the above Statements and see what they tell you.

I contacted mastercard and they gave me a breakdown of how much they charge. Mastercard said they charge 1% of what my bank charges as cross boarder charge and in the case of UBA it is 240 naira which means Master card will take 2.40 naira. I sent the mail from Mastercard to UBA, and i am waiting for their response.

Its so disappointing that an organisation as big as UBA will be engaging in this kind of mess. I just wish this would be moved to front page to warn other people to desist from doing this kind of business with UBA. If not for this dollar restriction mess I would not found myself in this, but I know I will get to the root of this.

I never liked UBA. I had to start using it again because it is close to where I worked before I traveled. On a good day I will not walk into UBA to open an account. My greatest challenge right now is that their ATM card is my only source of money over here, which means they will continue with the over charge as long as i keep on using the card.

what you should do is involve your dad or mum.
or someone you can trust with your account number. the person will go to the bank on your behalf and lay this complain to the manager not any customer care agent.demand to see the manager.
but UBA hmm that bank dealt with me.
i pray yours is rectified though but im always skeptical of anything UBA

LOL. They are not selling their dollar at 240. The cross country charge ie the amount they will charge you for using their Mastercard abroad per transaction is 240 naira.
They have even stopped replying my mails.

Nigeria banks are no more advisable for international transactions cos they alone understand their charges. there are other better ways getting your money n with good exchange rate. ask around u will definitely see people that want to send money to Nigeria.

This was way before all this nonsense mumbo jumbo economics of the present administration took a horrible turn. At that time, everything was still normal with other banks. I had to open a skye bank account as one of the posters above advised, and I felt like crying with the level of extortion from UBA. Skye bank was wonderful. And the most annoying thing is that UBA they kept on telling dirty lies even in the face of all evidences before them. Such a terrible bank and fraud oriented bank.
