IFE di nma rie mu ego, umunna taa mu u taa.

Though I disagree with the fourth picture, it denotes a bad omen, its only when a woman is been sent back to her parents, which signify a divorce or irreconcilable differences that she carries a keg of palm wine covered with ogilishi leaves on her head.

And the accompanied relations of the husband re few with downcast faces.

Igbo tradition marriage re conducted at night, as from 9pm till dawn, this is still active in Enugu, Ebonyi and some part of Abia states.

These afternoon show that re held now, is modern acculturation

I might marry from the Igbo tribe anytime am in the country I love learning new things and the picture really shows how crisp the Wedding is.
Welcome in advance with your crisp bag of ego?
And one thing with ibos, hence you properly married their woman, you will be referred as an inlaw anywhere in the world, an igbo man or woman meet you. Just say am from Edo my wife from Anambra or Abia etc. You will be called Oke Ogoo.

It's actually *Aso ebi* - Literally translated Family clothes/attire. It's a yoruba terminology

What's with u people and Igbo girls?I'm an Igbo girl from IMO to be prices and u don't need all that money to marry from my place so if u are also Igbo and u are sure that is what ur people collect from in-laws then u shld talk to them.I'm talking out of experience cos my sis just got married and with 150,000 the husband was done with everything(when I say everything I mean from bride price to traditional marriage) unless u want to celebrate it and anything u spend at that time u did it on ur own friends and not for the elders in the village...so normal getting married cost less than 150k without celebration.

I think Igbo/Ibo women too may have always worn *uniform* attires for events. Mostly white blouse and 2 wrappers (i think). Not sure what it's called in igbo/ibo though...

This is why guys don't get married any more, all this wastage of money after all the expenditure the husband will not have any fund left to look after his new wife.

Next time you see him it will be on TV news been paraded as an armed robber angry me thinks its time women begin to contribute to the expenses of marrying them, after all its supposed to be for better for worse

if you agree click like tongue

You forgot the main ceremony inside the house where "negotiations" are made by elders before outdoor event.
The grooms father presents the dowry and accompanying items, negotiations are concluded before they all proceed outside for the Igba Nkwu

First the bride goes around selling boiled eggs to the guests, showing to both families that she has the capability to open a shop and make money.
not every part of Igboland sales egg in their igba nkwu. So it is not a central culture

Nne, its called stereotyping.

"Igbos love money" is the standard stereotype.

Now speaking of brideprice. Your folks may have accepted 150,000 for your sisters Igba Nkwu, but I can tell you there are people whose list have topped 1.5million Naira. Especially ndi Owerri. grin

And before i'weputa mma gbuwa'm isi, abu'm Nwanne gi nwoke. grin
