Pastors of the Christ Apostolic Church on Tuesday attacked and assaulted Vanguard Newspaper Assistant Photo Editor, Mr. Dare Fasube. It was learnt that no fewer than 10 pastors from one of the two factions of a crisis-ridden CAC that threw their pastoral callings to the wind and attacked the assistant Photo Editor at the premises of the Federal High Court in Ibadan.

The attacked Photo Editor who is recovering from the assault was alongside others at the court when the incident, happened last week Thursday. The church which has engaged in a leadership crisis for a very long time now and emerged into two factions, which include the General Executive Council and Supreme Council with each sides claiming ownership of the church.

Both factions who had been in court over an alleged forgery of some church documents was initiated by the the Supreme Council. The former General Secretary of a faction, Pastor Gideon Okegwemeh, and Akeem Mohammed, former Director of Corporate Affairs Commission who were been docked by the court when coming out of the court room ran into Mr. Fasube who tried to take photographs of them, when about 10 men who came out with them to court descended on Fasube, asking why he wanted to take their pictures.

The former director who was trying to cover his face and turning away from the camera While trying to focus his lens properly to get the shot angered other “men of God” who asked him why he was running away and he told them that the journalist wanted to take his picture.

The angry men approached Fasube and maltreated him even as his colleagues told them that he was a journalist and was only doing his legitimate business. All entreaties to the “men of God” who reportedly came from Lagos fell on deaf ears, until the commotion attracted court officials who intervened.
