Amid reports that the Golden Eaglets received a ₦20,000 match bonus for clinching the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the Nff’s General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi has denied any such monetary gesture was offered to the players.
Sanusi confirmed to footballlive.ng that the Federation was cash strapped and had not redeemed any financial pledge to the players on account of their victory in Chile.

‘ Its unfortunate that people can sell such stories to the public about a team that served this country and brought us such great honor. I wish to state clearly, that the Federation at no time paid ₦20,ooo to the victorious Eaglets.

‘ They’ve not been invited since the Honorable Minister hosted them on their arrival form Chile, plus the Federation is thin on funds now that we wouldn’t be able to stretch our commitments that far for now.’

Nigeria defended its 2013 crown, securing a momentous 5th World youth title with a 2-0 win in an all-African final against Mali, in Chile this November.
