'Am' is an auxilliary verb...it can't start a sentence while 'I'm' is the shorter form for or an abbreviation of 'I am'.
I wonder why most pple throw the 'I' away.
For example: 'I am eating' shouldn't be 'am eating' cos it wouldn't make sense if u shorten 'she is eating' to 'is eating' cheesy

Nope. They honestly don't know the difference. You see the same mistakes in CVs and cover letters.

If you don't know when to use the words 'there, their and they're', you're basically in the same boat.

No, I disagree. A lot of people, even so-called educated folk, make that basic mistake.
And that calls into question your literacy if you don't know beginning a sentence with 'am' is wrong.

You are right but most people the way they are writing in social media is master them to the extended that they will written it in letter even in exams, which is very bad attitude

am like any other auxiliary verb can be used to start a sentence but only if it is an interrogative sentence

The reason I gave that reply was using Nigerians. Not only Nigerians use that on social media. Meanwhile, using am instead of I'm is to save you the stress of using an apostrophe when chatting on social media just to be fast in replying, since it's not a writing interview.

It’s quite normal to drop the subject pronoun in contexts where brevity is important. It is certainly a practice found in emails and texting, but it was previously found in their predecessor, the telegram, and many people drop the subject pronoun when taking notes. It is also dropped in quite formal prose to avoid repetition, as in, for example, I went to New York last week and am going again tomorrow. It is a form of ellipsis, and should not be considered ungrammatical.

Exactly my point, perhaps you don't know that the two words ( "I'm" and "am" ) are homophones, hence having the same pronunciation.
On the issue of emphatic stress, I meant you wouldn't need to stress out "I am" during conversation with a friend, which leaves it as "/am/" by transcription (same with the word "am" ). wink

Don't question how I know that. A simple understanding of the use of English from a sec school is a plus to clear the doubt.
