Do you think this one is ready to work?
WAEC is saying finance minister should retake Mathematics; how did this worker pass their English paper?

I used Polytechnic graduates in the topic, because anywhere I look at, I find 90% of them as culprits. Some would just plan to obtain OND, but later, having seen that others with HND are making it in their fields, they would say, "Let me go back for HND". For university education, you will at least have a 5-years plan in mind.
.
What I am saying is that those who can't defend
their certificates should not present them as
credentials again. I am very proud of my brother,
who is a graduate of a Polytechnic. He read
quantity surveying. If there is anyone in this
present day Nigeria that can surpass him in
architecture and structural engineering, let him
come forward for a contest with him.

So u think only polytechnic graduates are like this, Aswear, dem plenty for universities too.

I think the problem isn't with the poly or Uni, but the basics. People who have problems with English probably lacked it at elementary or secondary stage, there is very little that can be done at the tertiary level to correct it

He submitted his credentials during the interview. He was employed because much of what he learnt in school are not needed in the job. A friend of his, who claimed they attended the same school, brought him. When SIWES students from the school came for work experience, they attested to his candidacy.

One shudder thinks if it is compulsory for these higher institutions to award degrees to obvious blockheads. We know that western education cannot determine how far a man will go in life (Jumoke Orisagunna's case comes to mind), but for Pete's sake, there should be distinction between the learned and illiterates.

It doesn't work that way, take for instance, someone studying physics in the university, apart from GNS, there is very little he needs English for in school, basically physics na calculation na, so most of them manage to stay afloat using other aspects to minimize the effect of their deficiencies.
I had a blockmate who had such problems back in school, and I was always like how does he manage to pass exams, he reads well tho

They now rock their "H" factor so much so that it also shows in their spelling. Proudly Yoruba grin .......btw......

What a coincidence! I also had a friend in Lautech, who was studying Pure and Applied Physics. He understood the subject so much that he bragged about being good at it. But when it comes to Queen's English, I will always score him low. With that disadvantage, he couldn't have passed SSCE by himself. So, I don't expect him to ever criticize robbing politicians, because he who comes to equity must come with clean hands.

That said, I mentioned Polytechnic graduates, because I found 90% of them deficient in English, anywhere I go.

If he had not presented a Polytechnic certificate, no one would have raised eyebrows. If I ever become a lecturer in a college, I will be following my marking schemes to the letter. I will even prepare for backlashes, because that is one of the reasons no one, politicians especially, is ready to do his job again.

@OP....say the truth and shame the Devil. How did you get the screenshots if the conversation is not between you and your Boss?
Don't give polytechnic students a bad name....so that some persons will start having negative impression about them. Also, that doesn't mean that university students don't 'assassinate' English.
One Love!
