Your transaction was done in US dollars, am planning on using Canadian Dollars. So I guess there will be a different rate.

So I decided to make a $7 dollar payment with my master card to check if the news was true before making a full payment,hoping that in every lie,there was an atom of truth(might probably be charged around 260-280 at worst)and to my jaw breaking shocking suprise,I was charged #398/400 to a dollar =2786.70 !! .
Why are these banks charging us exhorbitantly?

300 is even good, I've head of as low as 245 today. My aunt was frantically trying to get some money from her business in naija to her foreign account before it goes back up.

To be honest, I still don't know why banks don't covert at the official rate used by CBN. There was a question about this issue on nairlan a while ago and no one knew the answer. Try calling the bank to find out.

Originally, every official transactions on a bank platform supposed to attract official rate of 199 naira to 1 dollar.
Now that you were charged with black market rate on a bank platform, it only look like you are either telling lies or the bank has been operating illegal parallel exchange rate .

This is a typical example of an economic sabotage by zenith bank.

call zenith direct . I called them n they said once the merchant comes n tells them the rate , they will refund if it's more (P.S I don't know the meaning of the merchant they said.)
