Kogi State Governor Stranded In Kano Over Holding Expired Visa To Saudi Arabia by kulobyno: 8:45pm On Jun 30, 2016
Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello’s trip to Saudi Arabia for a lesser hajj on Wednesday evening was aborted at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, as his travel visa had expired.

The governor had boarded the Saudi Arabia bound aircraft and sat on his reserved seat while his aides were busy processing his travel documents.

At the peak of processing Mr. Bello’s travel documents, it was discovered that his visa had already expired.

Shortly after the discovery of the expired visa on his passport, the dejected governor had no alternative but to disembark from the aircraft.

Thereafter, it was gathered that Mr. Bello proceeded to the Kano State Government House, where he spent the night.

Mr. Bello had taken off to Abuja from Kano on Thursday, ostensibly to validate the visa before his trip.

Bello seems to be ill-equiped to govern kogi start as the status of a governor seems overwhelming for him.

Sahara Reporters and lies. Yesterday they said that it was the VP that stopped the governor from travelling, today they said expired visa.
This story is even senseless. Which airline will allow u enter plan before validating your visa?
State governments have protocol officers that go to the airport earlier and process the travelling arrangements of top state government officials before they even arrive airport.

It's not a fabrication by SH. Bello was prevented from flying out of the Country earlier on during the week based on a directive from the VP. He tried to see if he could bypass Abuja Immigration by flying out through Kano, which is where he ran into crisis due to complications with his Visa. With each passing day, it's becoming clear that Bello's priorities are misplaced. Of what use is it to travel for the lesser Hajj again when the same Bello recently visited Mecca to perform the lesser Hajj? Perhaps to meet up with his Godmother - Aisha Buhari - who is also on pilgrimage.

Bello again? The latest I heard today is that he was given many dirty slaps by the NLC chairman of kogi state because he dared hit the chairman. That office is too big for Bello. If he has been stopped from travelling via abuja why try and go again through kano? Somebody who was grooving to korede Bello during Ramadan, A governor who drinks more shayo than water as evidenced by his pot belly, who spends his nights with imported babes in reverton hotel, all of a sudden umra in mecca has become a do or die affair. That boy is truly a joke. I am beginning to believe he was truly going to umra to meet madam

How did he get on a plane without his visa being checked. Something is still very wrong with Nigeria. How is that possible in today's Nigeria? With all these terrorism in Nigeria- what stops a big man like Bello from smuggling terrible things onto the aircraft

Take note and watch; The recent alerts recieved by some few LG staffs is carrying BO and not salary as usual, B ~ bail and O~out = bailout. If this is true that government is now using bailout to pay salaries and not salaries arreas, where is monthly allocations collected from the Federation Account by the Kogi State government? See something, say something!

Disquiet in Kogi over curious withdrawal of N450m Ecological Fund

There is disquiet in Kogi State over alleged curious withdrawal of N450million from the state’s Ecological Fund account without due process.
The cash was withdrawn without the State Executive Council in place as required by the enabling law.

The account was drawn about two and a half weeks before the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal delivered judgement on the polls that brought Governor Yahaya Bello to power.

But it was unclear last night what the cash was used for.

Investigation showed the cash was drawn on May 16, 2016 from the Ecological Fund Account Number: 1016623580 domiciled in UBA.

The account had a balance of N706, 102, 350.21 as at January 19, 2016.

A top source said: “The law governing the Ecological Fund says it must be discussed and approved by the State Executive Council.

“When the cash was withdrawn by government, there was no State Executive Council in place.

“There was no emergency ecological challenge in the state to have warranted such a huge spending.

“What is more baffling is that the cash was accessed barely two and a half weeks before the tribunal judgment on Kogi Governorship poll.

“The people of Kogi State want the state government to account for the whereabouts of the N450million.

“We want the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to pay attention to the ongoing developments before the state becomes bankrupt.”
Another source alleged that the state government is becoming reckless with public funds.
The source said the state recently secured a loan of N2.4bn froma commercial bank for Sustainable Development Goals.

“They’ve started spending the money despite not getting the required counterpart funding,” the source said.
He added: “The state government tried to withdraw another N450m from the infrastructure loan account with a bank but they refused, citing CBN guidelines that require transfers directly to contractors.

“Since then the state government has been using a Lebanese contractor to draw down on the funds.

“There is an abuse of the system and no respect for due process. For example, Agasa road in Okene LGA was awarded to aconstruction firm without following due process at a total cost N3.2billion with about N1.2 billion mobilization fee already paid.

“Apart from the construct ion of nine roundabouts at a cost of N100m each, a Prado jeep cost the state government N78million. The weekly cost of cleaning Government House is N16m.”
