Yes, people confuse grammar for English mastery. The Patrick Senator comes to mind. Any fool can pick up a dictionary and cram up high-sounding words to impress.

But true mystery and beauty of writing and speaking is in clever placement of everyday words and employing grammar only when simple words cannot adequately convey their meanings. That's it.

Study the works of Shakespeare, Achebe, Whrite, Dickson , etc, none were overly verbose....
