This is because as a person, GEJ doesn't pull political weight and does not specifically promote Ijaw or SS interest.

In South South, ethnic groups through their Unions are leaders of their respective groups. INC for Ijaw, UPU for Urhobo, ILT for Itsekiri etc.

For SS interest, all groups come together.

I have reason to fault the bolded. I think today there is no Ijaw political leader that has the same political clout as he does. As for the entire SS i cant say

Don't mind FFK and Fayose they don't really love Tinubu. they re jus trying to weep up sentiment and add more fuel to the fire. This is politics, problem in APC ll alws favour PDP. Also problem in PDP will alws favour APC. Everybdy is trying to see who they can rally to their own side, and trust me Tinubu will be a very big catch if it happens. Tinubu but kept some leftover for the common ppl of Lagos that's why he is revered. I despise ultra greedy pple who love to live off the poor.
GEJ wud ve been an ideal leader for us in SS, but I'm yet to get over the feeling of disappointment I feel each time I rmber hw he ignored the most important yearnings of the pple of the region and wasted a God given opportunity we might never see again.

Lols you are funny. SS can't "unite" like SW because SW is monoethnic unlike SS that that multiethnic. However, SS can ALIGN to pursue a course.

Like in every coming together, each group is represented and nobody from any group assumes sole leadership like it is obtained in monoethnic region like SW.

In Delta state, neither the Ijaws nor the Itsekiri see Ibori as their political leader. He's restricted to his Urhobo. Peter Odili in Rivers can't cross beyond his Ndoni(If they even consider him). Maybe, he's the leader of SS cultists LOLs

We need many men, and from the looks of it, we don't have enough. Not seasoned ones, I mean.

SW has at least 7 heavyweights, that if they cough the whole country will pay attention. North same thing.

I know SS is young in national politics, but all the years of seclusion should have made us build a formidable crop of heavyweight elites.

We're still talking about Odilli (traitor), Ibori, Akpabio, someone even mentioned Wike.

Which of those people can go toe in with someone like Bisi Akande from the West or Ekueme from the East or Abdusalami from the North?

GEJ is just one man, and to be brutally honest, he does not fit the bill.

He placed equity over the SS, forgetting that Nigeria is not America. That miscalculation, thinking he is dealing with sensible people, cost him the second tenure. Now he's enjoying his retirement, while the SS is no better now in 2016 than it was in 2007.

The only thing going for him is that we wouldn't sell him out. Regardless, it should be made clear that he had a chance to be our own Awolowo and he blew it. Posterity will judge him for that.
