I am a Nigerian nd i love Alikiba so much. Many Nigerians are just too local and don't explore much. If not you guys would have known that there are so much musical talents in East Africa. Alikiba is bae. The only thing is that all his songs are in swahili. Almost all Nigerians know Diamond Platnumz for instance just because her features with Nigerian artistes. 1 Like |

jaydee87: Don't mind some Nigerians, thinking everything revolves around Nigeria and Lagos. Nigerian artistes are just lucky they have a wider market and audience. When it comes to originality and content, most of them gat nothing on East African artistes. I love Sauti Sol and Alikiba. There is Edy Kenzo or so too... Alikiba killed his verse in Sauti Sol's "Unconditionally". Even their videos are top notch and Clarence didn't shoot it. I used to follow Diamond's music before he started associating with Nigerian artistes, yes he got more social media appeal and wider market but his originality nosedived. 2 Likes |

To all the Kenyans on here or the same person with different monikers kuwakaribisha. I was going to just waka pass, because .....who wizkid epp . I'm not a fan but I do love some his songs. You might say his songs just have groovy beats with no lyrical depth , but the boy has talent. He has this gift of being able to flow on a range of productions and register his trademark sound, all that's left is for him to channel this into deep lyrics . Now to Alikiba , another reason I wasn't going to comment. I don't know the guy. I might have heard his name pushed in mainstream media, but I have sampled a couple of so called Africa's ' best artists ' and have been disappointed, so I was skeptical . I downloaded two songs he was on and I admit he has a better voice than wizzy. First of, his song with M.I, ' Aje' didn't do it for me( even our chairman didn't deliver sha ) or maybe it needs some getting used to . The second, with Sautisol (Unconditionally ) ,is an equally average song to me, but if there's a standout point in the song, it is definitely ali's part ; the guy try. Now I know these two songs aren't enough to judge his singing but from what is before me I'm making my decision none the less. Ali is a better vocalist, but Wizkid is by far a better and bigger artist, with far better songs and talent and with widespread acceptance and recognition to boot and I think it's a slap on wizkid's proud face to compare the two. Y'all don't know how and where this guy worked his way up from ( go and ask Ojuelegba peeps) . He is a hard worker, who churns song after song ( most of them hits) with very little dry spells . Are there better artists than him in Kenya ... yes!! Do I know them?? ... No!! So until you bring one or you be one... put some respect on the name Wizkid . |

YourNemesis: Unlike many west Africans (whom I've come to notice are too obsessed with being light-skinned), East Africans are usually quick to appreciate everything African. Apart From Kwame Nkurumah and Sedar Sengor, there is actually no Pan-africanist of repute from the west. And if it is by features, you should have learnt from people like D'banj that features don't guarantee anything. Alikiba is not known in Nigeria maybe because Nigerians have not evolved to listening to music that reaches your soul (little wonder why Ruby Gyang, a Nigerian; is also not famous in Nigeria) until we have reached that level, we will continue to listen to people spewing trash and clap for them. |

I thought it was the other way round.. According to what i read "According to sources, the altercation started after singer Vanessa Mdee had finished her performance and there was a standoff when Ali Kiba, who was scheduled to go on stage after Vanessa, declined to perform before Nigeria’s Wizkid. In the end, Ali Kiba had his way, which saw him perform after Wizkid and just before Mr Brown. However, his moment of glory did not last as Brown’s security personnel demanded for Kiba to be removed from the stage two minutes into his performance to allow the American singer who was on a tight schedule to perform" |
