Yemi was there two days prior to meet the parents of his girlfriend, Sandra. Now, Sandra's mother had called earlier, asking to see him and adding that it was important. She also asked him not to tell Sandra about the visit.

The security guard opened up and directed him in. The living room looked much bigger than it did the day before. Perhaps it was because the room was fuller then. He had met Sandra's mother, father and two other siblings. It was, of course, a weekend, so most of the members of the family must be out. He entered, unsure what to do next when Sandra's mother came to meet him, giving him a big hug which seemed to be too tight and lasted too long.

She took Yemi's hand and led him to a seat, walking alongside him as if they were best friends. Yemi was fast becoming uncomfortable and unsure. Sandra's mum puttered around the room, serving him a glass of juice and a plate of cookies.
"I am sure you were wondering why I called you here?" She started when she was done serving him and sat opposite him.

"Yes ma," Yemi replied.

"Oh, no need to call me 'ma'. That makes me feel so old. Call me Kate." She said with a girlish giggle.

"Yes Kate," Yemi responded after an unsure pause.

"I need to discuss with you what your plans her for my daughter. One-on-one."
Yemi was relieved. "Oh, I assure you m..Kate, I love Sandra very much and want to build a future with her and..."

"Ok, that's all very good," she said, interrupting him. "But there is a lot about Sandra you do not know."
