We stiffled them so much that all they could do was start shooting from the distance.

There was a time I saw some comments against Balogun on this page about how he is not our best CB, I just shook my head. This game is another confirmation of why he is unplayable in our defence. There was a time he took the ball from defense and took the ball all the way to the final third.

He often drops to the midfield to get take balls from the Algerian midfielders. Chai...that guy can play!

Balogun is a baller. Wa Lai Ta Lai. He is too gifted.

Caught out of position when he pressed in the middle. I think it was two or three. However, his brilliance and hardwork kept us in the game. He was outstanding even after we conceded.

Note, I said my man of the match. I know many will pick Victor Moses. Most writers will give it to Moses. But, Balogun was my man of the match.

well I will blame Onazi sha, the only strong point of his game was non-existent today. He wasn't doing a good job shielding the defence, neither was he pressing. When I said Ndidi is better than him, I was castigated, now we have seen it

Mickael2:

Nah, I saw him caught out of position a couple of times. My MOM is obviously Moses, followed by ETEBO!!! The guy was running for 90 mins, marking, fighting, pressing, hassling, everything! Echejile was ok, but Omeruo comes next for me before Balogun
Those were the times he was helping out the defensive midfield. Did you notice that the midfield sort of collapse around the 55' to the time Ndidi came in, that was the time Leon was putting in that shift. Seriously, Onazi needs to help our game more. He lacked that urgency to mark out the opposition in this game. I don't think Bentaleb was fantastic, Onazi just gave him space.

Etebo:

What an ox. After today's performance, Rohr will have a tough time dropping him. That guy ran like he had an oxygen tank on his back.

Frightening that he did not tire. Looked as if he could go another 90 minutes. He took so much pressure off Mikel with his running and gave Mikel the liberty to take risk.

Amazing talent.

(Guardiola - Another Marathon runner here)
well said.
The mystery though is how the hell is Etebo still playing at some lowly rated team in the Portuguese primera Liga?

Dude should be playing in one of the top 8 team of one of the top 5 leagues in Europe. Easily.

Iwobi:

Who thought that guy to control the ball like that? The ball stuck to his feet most times he controlled it. He has also developed an exquisite touch on the ball, up there with Mikel Obi.

Made a lot of daring moves on the ball and shifted play a lot of times with his intelligent passing. Coped with pressure.

Stop calling him fool,He tried his best,he conceded just one goal, what would u say about the algerian goal keeper that conceded 3. Though the goal was clearly his lack of credibility as a good goal keeper.

How many Shots did the Algerians have on Target?!

His Look on the Pitch shows he's really what I called him. The Match is over already, I'm ain't panicking anymore hence I have no reason to be angry at him and calling him a Fool again!

I pray we have a fit, injury free, Carl Ikeme for our next Game, otherwise I would prefer Alampasu to him.

Not like I know alot about Algerian football, but for Brahimi, Mahrez, Slimani the rest from midfield to attack are bang average players.
In defence, Ghulam the left back is the only top talent in the defence. Although he is prone to being erratic and yellow carded. Moses should be instructed to attack him with pace, within the first 20mins he will be yellow carded. This I belive will slow him down.

I don't think there is anything to fear about these Algerians, infact only Mahrez, Brahimi and Ghulam can make our starting 11....
We should be spanking these guys 4:1 or 3:1 in all honesty. https://www.nairaland.com/3018619/new-super-eagles-thread-russia/232#50681281

Posted this on Nov 1st.... If only Iheanacho tapped in the last minute cut back by Musa, it would have been spot on 4:1... But still got it right at 3:1... A man is allowed to gloat grin grin

yes, but I doubt if he told Ekong to cover, communication is key. Because if you watch closely, whenever he charges forward, Omeruo will come into the middle more but Ekong won't shift from his position at all. But that should be the goalkeepers job anyways, he should have told Ekong to move, Akpeyi should never be invited again

What we need to do now is simple: start calling Alampasu for all our games. Make him play in our friendly matches for at least 45 minutes. That's the way to groom him as second choice. All these Akpeyi, Ezenwa will not help our ministry.

You've given them too much applause. We annihilated them. It could easily have been 5 - 0. If Onazi has provided cover and Akpeyi had not been dull, they'd not have scored.

If Kelechi had scored that tap in and Musa had given a better cross in injury time, we'd have scored 5 goals.

They were no match for us. Moses owned their defense. Balogun killed their offense.

#GreatSuperEagles
You are certainly correct.

Mikel:

What an amazing lesson from the veteran in the art of possession football. So much class in his touches and his confidence in attracting players to him when he shields the ball is impressive. Chuckled when, Mikel guided the ball until an Algerian player through him on the ball.

He is developing a brilliant understanding with Iwobi and I bet Mikel is the happiest with the addition of Etebo.

His goal was sweet because, I shouted offside when he got the ball. He glanced at the linesman before a clever trick finish.

Thank you my Bro! Goodjoe was right on talent over experience. I think you've proffered solution already. We do not need to recall Enyeama, we only need to groom Alampasu through friendly Matches!

Leon - that guy tall men.. All aerial balls won
Etebo - a beast of a player
Ndidi and Musa - those guyz reduced algeria's pressure to the minimum when we seem to be loosing confidence
Akpeyi - omo that guy no get confidence at all, should have done better with the goal
Mikel - he's got something to take back to Conte tongue tongue
Rohr - that man is a sub genius.. My heart was in my mouth before he made those game changing sub grin
Cameroun next........
But let analyse that mikel goal.. Was it an offside or not? Cos first time I saw an onside but second look got me thinking otherwise

Akpeyi:

Although he conceded the only good chance that came, I will talk about what impressed me by him. That is one sweeper keeper. No wonder Siasia likes him. He is confident with the ball on his feet and he is always ready for the back pass. Helped our defenders deal with the pressing of the Algerians.

Balogun was dominant today... But Moses is my man of the match. Minus his two goals, he was everywhere up and down his channel and helped Echiejile greatly....... Mahrez no see ball play sef like that...

AFRICA IS LUCKY WE ARENT COMING FOR AFCON 2017..... DEM FOR HEAR AM!!!!!

Meanwhile, Iheanacho as a no.9 didnt work out well today. His only shot was that late chance he missed after fine pass from musa from the right wing.

Iheanacho strives more as "the-man-behind-the-striker", no.10/no.8 for Nigeria.

The false 9 attempt by Rohr didnt work as he was isolated oftentimes and was only involved in the build-up to our second goal....

He can play the false 9 but it's strange to Nigeria right now... So he was isolated.

THIS SUPER EAGLES TEAM JUST SENT A MESSAGE TO THE REST OF AFRICA... AFTER RUSSIA 2018. WE ARE COMING IN FULL FORCE FROM AFCON 2019... A NEW GOLDEN ERA IS HERE INDEED. That's the name of the thread afterall... wink

TheGoodJoe:
Victor Moses:

What a hero today. Target of most tackles. A masterstroke by Rohr, playing him on the left to help deal with the pressure on Echiejile. Ran miles today and was determined in the first goal. His second goal was a result of nice positioning and great running speed.

Definitely, one of the best players on the field. Another confident display from him.

It was not offside. There was a defender keeping him on on his right. That's one of the reasons why I said the referee was superb. Some would not have given the goal.

I love Rohr. Watching the game, I felt like cursing the local coaches who stopped us from AFCON qualification. No be team be this? Oliseh was playing Onobi instead of Mikel. Imagine!
