Those innocent people died and were buried with Nigeria. As they were buried, so was the development, conscience, peace and growth of the country.
Nigeria is dead and nothing can resurrect this country. After a critical look and analysis of Nigeria, you will understand that the country has no chance of progress and true development.
These are aftermaths of events that occurred ten years after Nigeria had independence. The country had ten more years to correct the wrongs but they let it fester and grow. People who created the damage were celebrated and even still celebrated till today.
Nigeria as she stands today is a country with no hope and no bright future because of the actions of a few people who failed to confess their sins and ask for forgiveness.

Nigeria has gone beyond the stage where good leadership is needed.
Buhari is now president, 15 million people thought he was a good leader in 2015 but take a look at the country. Nothing has changed.

You're okay with the stories your uncles and grand parents told you, but you don't think I should be okay with what my own uncles and grand parents told me.

Dude, one of my parents was on the Federal side while the other was in the heart of Biafra during the war. While one attended school, the latter was hiding in trenches. I heard both their stories of the war period.

But I can assure you I've made several independent research (while also reading journals) about the war and i can tell you the Biafran troops were as savage in acts as the Federal troops if not worst.

Edolites and (Northern ) Cross Riverians don't despise the Igbo just because they are illustrious, they do because of their experience during the Civil war

Funny your government have yet to provide any details regarding biafran atrocities in midwest despite BIAFRA leaders themselves asked for it.

Last I checked , the biafran leaders told your Nigerian government to bring out any information they have about their atrocities to any non igbo groups in both midwest and east, likewise they would provide all information they have about Nigerian government atrocity to igbo and non igbo in midwest and east. This way everything would be out to the public to review and each area compensated for what they did to each side. Hilariously enough enough, till this very day, your government have yet to do as they requested. Infact they even took it up a notch and remove history from the curriculum. Now that begs the question , if Biafra did the atrocities as una claim, why is their relevant request of showing it to the public as well they'll compensate for what they did...ignored by your government.
Hmmm I wonder why.

While I'm at it, I'm from Asaba and I remember each story about edo role in the massacre of Aniomas....that's why I find it hilarious when these things try to rewrite our history and attach us to them. Also reason i laugh at aniomas that listem to them because its obvious they don't know their history. The edo were responsible for the massacre in Igbanke, igbodo, ogwashi, and many more sadly enough...why? Because they believed they were fighting "midwest igbo". I remembered each story especially the part that edo were part of the reason midwest igbo were killed during the biafra war despite not being part of Biafra. I recall learning that Edo even dragged Igbos out of the house in Benin to be killed. My grandmother also remembered that the people that directed the troops to Ogwashi Uku were Edo people, most specifically bini. During Ogwashi uku's own massacre, the edo were literally pointing out the igbo and non igbo people to the troops....in addition to partaking actually shooting and beating aniomas to death. My grandmother remembered that detail because she saw it with her own two eyes. The only reason she and the rest of her family survived was because her dad spoke fluent bini and Esan language so her dad lied that he was Edo rather than igbo. Infact some denial of not being igbo in aniomaland started because of the singular act of edo people during the Biafra war.
Very few people realize that the massacre in Anioma didn't happen just in Asaba, it happened in several anioma territories starting from Igbanke all the way down to asaba. Asaba is the most known and talked about because of Asaba close proximity of Biafra hence some of our people were able to escape to Biafra and tell the story. Ogwashi, igbodo, etc were not that lucky hence their own died down.

This flyweight, sourceless of article from dawoodu.net or wetin has been torn apart countless times.

The Federal Military Government set up a Midwest Rebel Atrocities Committee headed by Justice Omo-Eboh and after a year of frantic probing they could not publish the report out of shame I can imagine because there was NOTHING.

Nigeria is a wicked country o. They manufactured "biafran atrocities" in midwest to cover the innocent blood it has spilled in asaba.

And while we're still reeling about the Asaba massacre, another massacre just as macabre happened in Kaduna as recently as 2015 and the Nigeria public stayed mute.

This time Amnesty International documented it. It has a dedicated Wikipedia page and we all just stayed silent (shout out to the few who voiced their dissent, please don't stop).

Life has no worth in Nigeria.

Most of us are all killers and murderers in Nigeria, because of our complicity.

When the American public noticed the atrocities committed in Vietnam, they reprimanded their government. Made protests. Called the president a baby killer. The people dieing were not even Americans.

Here, police kill people daily by accidental discharge, and there's no memorial. No framework to prevent it from happening again, no respite for the victims. Nothing!

Everyone throws up the "e no concern me" phrase. Well I have news for you, it's coming for you.

N the day it does, someone else will say "e no concern me."

N we magically expect people to feel concerned about those who died in respective massacres and progroms across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

I snarl when people say God Bless Nigeria. Because God doesn't see Nigeria when he looks at the World Map. He sees a den of monsters.

Human skull is sold for less money than a bag of rice. Dead people are called soft targets. People are turned into just numbers. We play politics with human lives. Fathers, mothers, kids, uncles, aunts, and what have you dead, families wiped out, and nothing happens.

A house with 7 people in it was burned by a mob because of a blasphemy and nobody was arrested and you said nothing. Yet you go to Church on Sundays, or to Mosque on Fridays, or make offerings to your god in the morning and pray to some God to forgive you your sins. Well, you'd need to pray a lot more, because your silence is killing more people daily.

And for those who give reasons or excuses for murders and massacres. Yours is coming and your death will be slow, painful, and excruciating.

You too will be another burnt corpse kids walk by when returning from school (like what happened in Lagos during the mile 2 episode).

Say God forbid as many times as you want. But the Good book said, he that kill by the sword shall die by the sword.

When you give reasons for massacres, you too will be a victim and someone else will give reasons why you were killed.

WAR and ARMED CONFLICT is EVIL (and sometimes unavoidable). But UNWANTON, UNPROVOKED killings whether in war or peacetime is repulsive.

And if you keep silent and act like it doesn't bother you. You are just as worse as the killers. It's complicity in no uncertain times.

Nigeria deserves all the horror it is experiencing and all the horror yet to come. And as long as we sustain our loquacious attitude towards sanctity of life, RIP in advance to the millions of Nigerians yet to meet a gruesome demise.

Are you aware that after the Asaba massacre, the actors were ambushed at Abagana by the Biafran troops.
You may argue that the retaliation was meted to enemy combatants, Murtala the principal actor was later killed in a bloody coup few years after the war.
That is war for you, for those of us who fan the embers of war, we must remind them that rules of engagement in battle is not sacrosanct.

Facts vs Sentiments.Massacre of villagers was done by federal troops not Biafran troops.
This narrative that Igbos marginalized minorities during the war has no basis, but came as a result of fear of "domination" that was perpetuated by Naija press and elitist northern hegemony during and after the war.

Post war Nigeria has been anything but contrary to that held misconception of "Igbo dominance ". Prominent Igbo sons and daughters have advocated for minority rights and resource control in the south.

In 1994, when Abacha was a dictator, Igbo leaders called for the creation of S/South and rotational presidency. Dr Alex Ekwueme first moved a motion for the creation of geopolitical zones which carved out South South as an entity on its own. Without this creation, Jonathan would not have become president.Ekwueme was supported by Ojukwu and Mbakwe at the constitutional assembly and BTW, northerners kicked against it and called Ekwueme a divisive figure.. the reason why they didn't vote for him when ran against OBJ in 1999.

In 1996,Ebite Ukiwe and co campaigned for the creation of Bayelsa state which gave SS one more state than S/E. In 1999, OBJ sent a bill creating Niger Delta Development Commission to the NASS, the northern caucus unanimously opposed this bill. Senate president, Chuba Okadigbo, pushed and got this bill passed. Then 13% derivation fund to NDDC was challenged by FG and northern governors at the Supreme Court ( Onshore/Offshore Dichotomy) and Igbo governors sided with S/S governors and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of S/S governors.

In the last CONFAB in 2014, Igbos leaders joined S/S leaders to demand for 50% derivation fund to be paid to oil NDDC and it was overwhelmingly rejected by northern members. Igbos actions towards S/South have been of brotherly and neighborly love and contrary to that misconception of dominance. So at what point do facts and actions triumph over sentiments and misconceptions?

What did the Biafrans expect after declaring war on the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Were they expecting the Nigerian Army to come and party with them? Idiots. But, on a second thought, where were the Biafran soldiers when the Nigerian Army was doing the massacre? Oh! I know, the Biafran soldiers were hiding under their grandmothers' bed while their lord and saviour fled to Ivory Coast.

There are always many sides to the story, what I heard was that the Ibos in Benin, Sapele, Warri, Ughelli and other towns kept boasting that the Biafrans will invade the Midwest and then put them in charge. True enough the Biafrans invaded and the Ibos cheered and shamed the local indigenous population who of course out number them. What then do you expect to happen when the federal forces came by. The local populace chased em all out to go to their beloved Biafra. This people that are trying to distort the truth by playing the victim mentality should try harder.
