If I may ask please, was Ojukwu a national hero or a regional hero?

Neither. Ojukwu was a hero of those who believe in self determination and free choice. I have personally been in the presence of Ojukwu where he said that Nigeria cannot work as a nation and that is why he tried to get his people out of it. Nigeria still does not work as a nation to this day. Who can blame Ojukwu for trying to free his people and other minorities in Southern Nigeria from the Northern Nigerian oligarchy?

I think that Ojukwu only went into politics to give his people political direction. I dont think he ever had any realistic expectation to win. He knew that the Northerners and Yorubas would never vote for him for fear of Biafra.

Igbos usually dont respect politicians, they respect freedom fighters. It is Ojukwu the freedom fighter Igbos love, not Ojukwu the APGA presidential candidate.

Ojukwu was a true leader, a freedom fighter, a warlord, a pragmatist. The only one who stood up to the North when all others bowed out of cowardice.
Without a doubt, he was the greatest Igbo man who ever lived.

What had he successfully lead?

Home, war or politics?

Home?
Problem and rift between him, his children(Sylvester Dede, the first born and the rest) and wives

War?
Cross dressed and fled to Abidjan after leading his people to war!

Politics?
No particular election (Senatorial and Presidential) won!

But why? Why are you this cruel?
Must you point out the obvious?
Don't you have an sense of humour?
Please cut the guy some slacks, he tried. At least went to war and later ran away. grin shocked

Vote ke? Those crooks can exchange the placenta of their children for money: I knew money has exchange hands immediately OBJ defeated Ojukwu in his jurisdiction.

However, how many of them are still in APGA, the authentic political party of Igbo? They are out there dieing on top of PDP versus APC, the two political parties on which I have 70% assurance that they will still present an Hausa man as their respective flag-bearers in 2019.

Nope! He only hoodwinked innocent-hard working Igbos into their deaths and ran away at the zenith of war he caused due to his overriding interest in power and egocentric

He didnt hoodwink anybody. Igbos wanted to get out of Nigeria and they fought to do that.

Awolowo and Adebayo, political and military leaders of the West, bowed down to a small boy called Gowon in fear of the North. The military leader of the mid-west, David Ejoor, bowed down to his junior Gowon, in fear of the North. Only Ojukwu refused to bow down. Only Ojukwu stood and fought when other were queueing to lick the a$$ of the North to avoid war. Only Ojukwu had dignity when others gave up without a shot.

Ojukwu was a great man. At least he fought for 3 years before he left. The ones who are calling him coward are the ones who only fought who lick the a$$ of the North best.

Ojukwu would be remembered as a stubborn man, who wanted something at the expense of his people's lives but couldn't get it. I still remember that video that gave them amnesty. It was really a shame! He would have died in that war and would be remembered as a Hero.

To me the war had no meaning, people just died for nothing.

True talk. Tell them especially these losers who are blinded by their hatred of igbos . This is why Nigeria will never progress. Tribes that have hatred for each other are lumped together in one space and they do nothing but abuse each other on forum like this, even sinking to the low level of hauling abuse on respected individuals and their families.

In politics, dude "successfully" lost the presidential poll even in Anambra, his home state, and the entire LiePod territory.
