As an observer in d just concluded ondo governorship election I was deployed to ore zone, kadoja police division to monitor d performers of policemen but what I observed totally changed my orientation about them.
1)No accommodation was provided for more than 400 policemen deployed
2)feeding of policemen was totally out of it.
3)transportation to polling boots was paid for by policemen themselves.
4)policemen from states like oyo, cross rivers,edo contributed money to transport themselves for d election.
However its on record dt policemen deployed performed creditable well despite d hardship but d painful part of this whole story is dt police authorities embezzled d election allowance met for policemen on that duty. Out of a total of 26000 policemen deployed for d election only 2000 were paid their allowance and as it stands non of them can even complain.according to report ,dts exactly what happened in bayelsa election yet nothing was done about it.y won't an average policeman collect bribe? Y wont an average policeman be hostile to members of d public. Imagine sending a hungry policeman to such a duty without providing him with logistics yet we say we fighting corruption.
