So he's also a very keen friend too after same falcons complained of how no one attended to them shortly after the cameroun game up till the time they left for the airport. While Dalung and Pinnick were still squandering the 42million on a chartered flight to and from cameroun, the falcons were having a hard time getting home.

The girls really played their game well. They chose not to hold down a protest in cameroun. They patiently waited till they got home.

Dalung... Friend of the falcons didn't even address them specially before he returned to join pinnick in their chartered flight. That's the testimmony of some of the falcons players.

How is he being played when he called Pinnick and the NFF out. Maybe his mistake was giving Pinnick a ride but he has not done much wrong. Without him this issue would be under the rug he has brought prominence to this matter.

Falcons star Omone Ebi sponsors tourney in Ajegunle

The maiden edition of the Onome Ebi Football Tournament will kick off on Friday in Ajegunle, Lagos.

The tournament, which is sponsored by the Super Falcons star, will see eight teams jostle for cash prizes and a trophy.

The tourney will take center stage at the Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle.

The Super Falcons star said she is excited to be behind this event, which is aimed at taking young girls and boys off the streets.

into millions of naira after winning an unprecedented eight African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon a fortnight ago. The African

champions refused to vacate their hotel in Abuja, insisting they will remain there until they were paid their money. A visit to the hotel

yesterday by Sports Vanguard showed that the girls who were hitherto eager to talk to the media concerning their plight were no where to be

found as they stayed back in the rooms with a directive to the front desk staff that they do not want to talk to anybody. Falcons However our

checks further revealed that the latest action may have been informed by the fact that the NFF last Friday paid the sum of N100,000.00 naira

to the bank account of each of the players. The money, reports informed, is part payment of their outstanding bonuses and allowances. A

reliable source at the NFF who pleaded anonymity told Sports Vanguard on phone that the money was paid with the hope that the protesting

players will heed their plea to vacate the hotel, but that may not have been the case. “I can confirm to you that last Friday, the NFF credited

the sum of N100,000.00 to the account of each of the players as part payment of the unpaid backlog; and pleaded with them to vacate their

hotel with a firm promise to pay the balance as soon as they get the money from the federal government. “But I can equally tell you that the

decision of the girls to remain adamant is because they claim that the Minister for Youth and Sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung who spoke to them

last Thursday had promised to ensure they get all their entitlements, adding that he did not ask them to vacate their hotel.” Our source further

Top Govt official promises Falcons they will get their cash this week

Top Nigerian government official has promised the Super Falcons they will be paid in two days after they staged a protest march this morning.


The Presidency’s chief of staff Abba Kyari addressed the country’s women’s football team when they stormed the National Assembly to protest the non-payment of their entitlements by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).


“You girls will be paid in two days’ time,” Kyari assured the protesting Falcons.

He also asked that they put in writing their misgivings.


The Falcons displayed various placards to kick against the shabby treatment they have been subjected to by the NFF.

The Nigerian Presidency has summoned president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick and his top officials following a protest march by the country’s women’s team.


Pinnick has also divided his executive committee after he unilaterally decided to contest for a seat on the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) next year.

The Falcons have been pressing for their entitlements since they won the women’s AFCON about a fortnight ago in Cameroon.


Earlier today, the chief of staff at the Presidency Abba Kyari addressed the team when they stormed the National Assembly to protest the non-payment of their entitlements by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

He promised they will be paid this week.


The Falcons led by skipper Rita Chikwelu displayed various placards to kick against the shabby treatment they have been subjected to by the NFF.

The 16 players, who departed the Agura Hotel in Abuja early this morning, started their protests at the National Assembly at around 0730 hours, and have no plans to leave the Complex until they get the attention of Nigeria president, Muhammadu Buhari, who is due at the Assembly later today to address the Senate and House of Representatives.

The African Women Cup of Nations winners have blocked the entrance to the National Assembly and honourable members are following the back door to enter the building.

Without mincing words, it appears Asisat Oshoala and recuperating defender Onome Ebi backed out of the protests, and the Arsenal striker’s flimsy argument is that she is in Lagos for her Emzor Xmas programme which she does every year.


The AWCON Golden Boot winner appeared on local television on Tuesday and she didn’t condemn or support the Nigeria Football Federation when she was given the opportunity to do so.


This website understands that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House plan to address the players in the coming hours.


However, the players have sworn to storm Aso Villa if they don’t get a favourable response from the Senate and House of Reps.

Former Minister of Sports, Bala Kaoje has blamed the current holder of that office, Solomon Dalung, for the degeneration of the financial crisis that has hit the Super Falcons after the team’s success at the Africa Women Cup of Nations. Reacting to the news of a likely protest by the team to the State House in Abuja, Kaoje said he considers the protest as unwise and maintains that it should not be allowed to happen.

The former Minister also slammed Dalung for his inability to properly manage crisis in the industry.

‘Don’t ignore Super Falcons’ demands’

As the Super Falcons’ stand off with the Nigeria Football Federation over unpaid allowances enters its tenth day, National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) has appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay the team all outstanding allowances.


Former Nigeria international Austin Popo who is General Secretary of the union said in a statement yesterday that the Super Falcons, after their conquest of Africa and made Nigeria proud, were being ridiculed by the sports’ authorities.


“Since the team came back from Cameroon, the players have refused to vacate their hotel on grounds of unpaid salaries and allowances, coupled with other unfulfilled promises.

“Promises from tournaments, ranging from the Olympic qualifiers to the All African Games and now the African Women Championship, remained unfulfilled.

“We believe this situation is avoidable with proper dialogue, sensitivity and transparency on the part of the authorities.


“The union condemns a statement credited to the Minister of Sports that adequate preparation was not made to offset the players’ entitlements because he did not expect them to win the AWCON Cup.

“The union wants the NFF to take responsibility by ensuring the players and officials are paid their entitlements without further delay.


“There is no doubt the NFF is cash-strapped and government’s release of funds dysfunctional. “But it is important the welfare of the players and coaches should be of top priority in the disbursement of available fund.


“We expect the leadership of our sports’ authorities to make sacrifices in ensuring that the issue of players and coaches takes the centre stage above personal interest,” it said.

TheFinance Ministry as well as the Sports Ministry have both been told explicitly that the Falcons must get their monies today.

Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, told State House correspondents on Wednesday that the issue had been resolved.

He confirmed that government had since directed appropriate authorities to settle the players’ allowances andbonuses.


“The problem has been resolved. They have done us proud and we congratulated them. The Ministries of Sports and Finance have been directed to pay tomorrow (Thursday).

“I don’t know the details of the arrears. But they have been directed to pay,” the presidential aide said.


The players, led by team captain Rita Chikwelu on Wednesday had staged a protest to express their displeasure at the non-payment of their allowances andbonuses.


Chikwelu, lamented that the NFF did not even treat them well when playing in Cameroon during the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

Explaining their ordeal, she said they were ordered out of the hotel at Douala in Cameroon the very night they won the competition.

She said this led them to sleeping at the airport with the competition’s trophy they won by beating hosts Cameroon 1-0 on December 3.


“Officials of NFF did not encourage us at all in Cameroon. We never saw the NFF President (Amaju Pinnick) and General Secretary (Mohammed Sanusi) in Yaounde when we played in the semi-finals.


“Surprisingly, we saw them in the crowd at Douala where we played the final match and having won that night they asked us to leave.”

The Super Falcons have won the AWCON tournament a record eight times.

Falcons champions of Africa again

Super Falcons players have said they will be short changed their win bonuses for retaining the women’s AFCON because they expect nine million Naira each, but will now be paid N4.9 million Naira-a-player.


The players are being owed match bonuses and allowances for winning the AWCON 2016 in Cameroon, and have been protesting the non-payment of their entitlements.


They staged a protest to the National Assembly on Wednesday, which prompted the federal government to promise to offset the bills.


It has now been confirmed that the money has been paid to the NFF, who are now set to pay into the accounts of the players.


However, the players have insisted they should be collecting nine million Naira each, and not the 4.9million Naira they are about to receive.


“Our monies should be around nine million Naira and not what they want to give us now,” one of the players said.


The NFF are to pay each player N5m, but they will deduct the N100, 000 they paid each player earlier as transport fare, making it N4.9m each player will receive.

A top official has revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) requested the sums of $800,000 and 24 million Naira from the Nigerian government to cover the country’s participation at the recent women’s AFCON in Cameroon.


Former top sports ministry official Abba Yola revealed on a television programme this morning that the request before the AWCON to the sports ministry appeared not to have been forwarded leading to the embarrassing protests the Super Falcons have since embarked on to press for their entitlements.


However, another top sports official, Ademola Are, argued that the situation of the Falcons ought not to have degenerated to this level had the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) been alive to their responsibilities.


“Such a national disgrace should not have been if the NFF had been alive to their responsibilities,” he said on the same TV programme.


“The various (sports) federations ought to be properly managed by professionals, not every Dick and Harry.”


Are also said the NFF do not have any reason to be broke.

Former Kano Pillars chairman Abba Yola has blamed a situation where the country’s female football team were forced to stage a protest march to press for their entitlements on sports minister Solomon Dalung.


Speaking Friday morning on Focus Nigeria, a flagship programme on AIT, former top NSC official Yola, said the weakness exhibited by Dalung, is responsible for the high level indiscipline among Nigeria federation presidents especially NFF president Amaju Pinnick.


He said a situation where the minister is made to bear the brunt of the many inadequacies of federation presidents is not acceptable.


He has therefore called on Dalung to stand firm in the face of recent intimidations from federation presidents or chicken out.


He is of the opinion that the minister should not allow himself to be ridiculed by individuals who feel they are untouchables because of the backing or immunity they enjoy from international bodies like FIFA.


Abba Yola further appealed to the minister to talk less and act more.

He said most of the problems the minister had found himself was because of his misguarded comments which have often times, attracted negative public backlash.


However, the director, Grassroots sports development in the sports ministry Ademola Are in his defense, says the minister was often misquoted by mischief makers who were paid to ridicule him.


A former public relations officer of the Nigeria football association, Austin Mgbolu, however believed that the way forward is for the minister to as a matter of urgency, release the Ibrahim Galadima report which was since submitted to his office.


He said this report and many others like it will provide a road map for football development in Nigeria.


Programme moderator, Gbenga Aruleba, said he is more concerned with the processes through which sports federation presidents are elected and questions a situation whereby a particular federation will continue to collect allocation from government but forbids government from meddling in their affairs.


They all agreed that the only solution going forward is for government to immediately convene a sports summit where stakeholders will deliberate on a perfect working framework for Nigeria sports
