just because one isn't bold enough to take action, doesn't mean he/she shouldn't support one who is indeed bold enough to take the needed action.

Oh! So Kanu should die for you to get biafrau.d abi? Or you are simply saying you are not bold enough. You guys know Kanu is wasting his time but you encourage him. He is in jail now and you guys are enjoying and still deceiving him by calling him hero.

Nigeria is a rogue state ruled by murderers and coupists like Buhari.

Imagine all the soldiers that died on December 31, 1983 thinking they were defending our democratically elected government from coupists led by BUHARI who came at mid night to overthrow the government. Only to learn that we stabbed them in the back by rewarding the same coupist Buhari with power.

Not for argument sake, but plzz check the meaning of treason under the Constitution. I don't care about Biafra or Kanu, but it will be obvious to anyone who bothers to check out the facts and weigh them against the noise that the prosecution is merely grasping at straws.

If the government is clear in the intent to met out justice, then it is not good enough to act above the law just because you have executive powers to do so. Where has it ever happened in the history of this country for witnesses to be shielded behind a screen? Is this the first case of treason brought to a Nigerian court? And they want us to believe there is nothing special personal about this case

Kanu is a citizen of Nigeria by definition given by the Constitution guiding this great nation. Whether he is mouthing off against the government or wants secession of a particular tribe due to injustices perceived or not, the accusations are on treason and terrorism. We want to see the facts and witnesses. The media has criminalised him so much, and the government has turned him to a black sheep. I want to see the government's actions justified, but not by jungle justice, or going rogue on the rule of law. The rule of law must be consistently followed for the condemnation of Kanu to ring true in the eyes of the populace, the world at large and for the sake of future cases as this.

In this light, it is not enough to be emotional. He said pretty rough things against the president and against his country. But the Constitution allows him this right. The Igbos even have a right to have a peacefulreferendumm and secede. International laws allow this right. We are in a democracy. If the President illegally condemns all his critics, then our democracy is a mere sham.

If there is a case of treason and terrorism against Kanu, then why judge him in secret when you have openly condemned him a traitor.

You write up is great but having a muslim zombie pro-dullard skull understand this is like teaching a bird how to brush teeth, when we know the bird is toothless.

There is no brain in the bony skulls of these zombies.

I thought they said he's also a British national? Just saying. Sir! Declaring a sovereign state from a united state is a treasonabke act. The clearest of it. I haven't touched the part he created a thread to raise funds for arms and air hate words on illegal radio channels.

As for the the witness issue, I don't know a thing about it.

All these you mentioned are typical avenues preceding a call for referendum. Awareness must be raised. I don't remember him declaring a sovereign state. He only called for its secession. Illegal radio channels? What law makes it illegal? Because it isn't registered under the NBC. My dear there are many unregistered radio channels in africa today, and they are all still running. He may have gone far by threatening to raise funds for arms, bit threatening isn't treasonous. Actually doing it, is. If the prosecutor has evidence that he sourced for funds for the purpose of procuring arms then why hide it. If they procured arms, then we can all cry foul.

All this man has done to me was raise awareness to his perceived plight. Is he arrogant while doing so? Definitely! But that isn't a crime. Is he airing hate words? Yes, but that isn't a crime. If running an unregistered radio station so illegal, why isn't it among his list of offences? Just a few among a million more questions we should ask ourselves if we take our emotions out of this. We and the government are making him into a god and all he did was spur our emotions.

I once read somewhere, "...call a wise man a fool, he will ask you for your reasons. But call a fool a fool, and he will act out foolishly." I am not saying Buhari is a fool, but his actions so far has raised many eyebrows.

If you think otherwise, then let's agree to disagree.

And please this state called Nigeria is not united. We want it to be, but since its conception, we have never been united. The Royal Niger Company asked no one's permission when it amalgamated us all into one, but for the sake of their business - a business which is still ongoing. We are rich in diversity, true, but Bros na this same diversity wey don kill more people than anywhere else on this continent.

Are we on the right path to unity by making a matyr of this man Kanu. If he dies for nothing, he dies for what he believes in and his course will continue. We would only make the diversity worse and many would lose faith in the government and in the Constitution they swore to protect.

Speaking of terrorism, who is saying anything about the Fulani herdsmen? Maybe because they don't want secession and disruption of the Royal Niger Company's business. They just want superiority wherever they go, taking what they want with no respect for lives or property. NO BODY IS CRYING FOUL. What happened to the right to life and property ownership. Isn't that terrorism?

well, I rest my case.

Major-General Buhari was one of the leaders of the military coup of December 1983 that overthrew the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari. At the time of the coup plot, Buhari was the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Third Armored Division of Jos.[37] With the successful execution of the coup by General Buhari, Tunde Idiagbon was appointed Chief of General Staff (the de facto No. 2 in the administration). The coup ended Nigeria's short-lived Second Republic, a period of multi-party democracy started in 1979. According to The New York Times, the officers who took power argued that "a flawed democracy was worse than no democracy at all". Buhari justified the military's seizure of power by castigating the civilian government as hopelessly corrupt and promptly suspended Nigeria's 1979 Constitution. Another rationale for the coup was to correct econimic decline in Nigeria. Sani Abacha in the military's first broadcast after the coup linked ' an inept and corrupt leadership' with general economic decline. In Buhari's New Year day speech, he too mentioned the corrupt class of the second republic but also as the cause of a general decline in morality in the society.

Participants[edit]
Major General Muhammadu Buhari* (General Officer Commanding, 3rd Armored Division, Jos)
Moshood Kashimawo Abiola (Business tycoon who financed the coup plot according to General Babangida)
Major General Ibrahim Babangida (Director of Army Staff Duties and Plans)
Brigadier Ibrahim Bako (Brigade Commander)
Brigadier Sani Abacha (Commander, 9th Mechanized Brigade)
Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon (Military Secretary, Army)
Lt Colonel Aliyu Mohammed (Director of Military Intelligence)
Lt Colonel Halilu Akilu
Lt Colonel David Mark
Lt Colonel Tunde Ogbeha
Major Sambo Dasuki (Military Assistant to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Wushishi)
Major Abdulmumuni Aminu
Major Lawan Gwadabe
Major Mustapha Jokolo (Senior Instructor, Basawa Barracks - Zaria)
Major Abubakar Umar

Additional notes on Buhari's role[edit]
General Buhari has denied his involvement in the December 1983 coup however the example of the late Major Daniel Bamidele betrays Buhari's complicity in the December 1983 coup. Nigerian military historians Max Siollun and Nowa Omoigui note that when Major Bamidele got wind of the coup to oust Shagari, Bamidele reported the issue up the chain of command to his GOC 3rd Armored Division (Major General Buhari) who was allegedly in on the plot. To prevent Bamidele from leaking the plot, Buhari ordered the arrest and detention of Bamidele for 2 weeks. Bamidele wasn't released until the successful execution of the coup. Learning from this unfortunate experience, Bamidele didn't report any rumors of the so-called Vatsa coup (between 1985 and 1986) and was executed for it.[4][5] Bamidele's words to the Special Military Tribunal that tried and convicted him are:

"I heard of the 1983 coup planning, told my GOC General Buhari who detained me for two weeks in Lagos. Instead of a pat on the back, I received a stab. How then do you expect me to report this one? This trial marks the eclipse of my brilliant and unblemished career of 19 years. I fought in the civil war with the ability it pleased God to give me. It is unfortunate that I'm being convicted for something which I have had to stop on two occasions. This is not self adulation but a sincere summary of the qualities inherent in me. It is an irony of fate that the president of the tribunal who in 1964 felt that I was good enough to take training in the UK is now saddled with the duty of showing me the exit from the force and the world."[4]

Additionally, in a 2015 interview, Sambo Dasuki alleges that he and two other military officers (co-conspirators) travelled to Jos to brief Major General Buhari, who was then the GOC of 3rd Armoured Division, on the status of planning for the 1983 coup.[6]

Major General Buhari's Supreme Military Council (SMC) observed a minute of silence for the slain Brigadier Bako during the SMCs first meeting.[7]

If you stick to the internet and particularly the social media, (and to some extent even the mainstream media), you will be so convince that war is eminent.
But walk around big markets and state capitals in the North, I mean core North (Jigawa, Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto) and then Lagos (amongst others in the SW) and take a rough casual look at the Igbo folks dutifully engaged in their businesses and you will be convinced, like me, that there's no war coming.
