IVF And Endometriosis by temmythe(f): 11:49am On Jan 12, 2017
Is there anyone here going through endometriosis and had successful IVF?

well, i was diagnosed of having ovarian cyst while i was young but the doctor kept saying it's nothing to worry about until i got married and four years down the line, i couldn't get pregnant. June, 2016 i had surgery to remove some few fibroid and flush out the endometriosis. i was placed on 3 months of zoladex to halt my menstrual period. i couldn't take the 3rd injection of zoladex cos job took me out of town that period. when i returned, we decided to go for IVF immediately, October 2016 we started the journey of IVF and they discovered the endometriosis is back again with full force, had ovarian cyst drainage that same October and was hoping we could kick off with the IVF treatment, after 3 weeks on busereline the discovered the endometriosis is back again, then the doctor advised we use a donor's egg or use zoladex again for 3 months.
Well, we decided to opt for the donor's egg.

now we've started the treatment and i went for the first scan on Tuesday to commence progynova(2mg 3X daily), the scan showed the endometriosis again and they got scared it might affect implantation.

further options were to drain again or go for surrogacy.

who else is or had been in this situation and any iota of hope if i go ahead even after drainage? this is a lot financially and emotional draining hubby and i.

i am also hoping we could get some herbal treatment that could dry the cyst up in 2 weeks before the ET.

Thanks

My sister, it is only a doctor and someone who is passing or has passed through what you're going through now that will understand you. I pray God gives you your bundle of joy in no distant time.

Endometriosis is a very difficult condition to treat. The cause is known and sadly, the success rate in IVF in a setting of endometriosis is low. Also treatment with Zoladex makes it even more difficult because of the difficulty in ovarian stimulation. Buserelin and Zoladex (goserelin) are the same class of drugs except that their route of administration may differ.

Drainage of endometriosis cyst is no longer being practised in contemporary gynaecological practice because of the dangers associated with it such as recurrence and pelvic abscess formation. The endometriosis reoccurs after drilling, hence no longer advocated. I don't know where they recommended such for you.

Donor egg is a viable option but the presence of endometriosis also interferes with implantation after ET (embryo transfer) by unknown mechanisms.

In this case, surrogacy may be the best option at the moment, and that depends on your country of residence because of the ethical issues involved.

Do not lose hope, for us we don't tell our clients that there is no hope, because God starts where medicine stops, so keep hope alive.

I wish you well

You've got to convince him, sis.People don't have to know that u use surrogate. There are diff baby bump kits that can be used.If u go for that ivf and it fails, you might be blaming d endometriosis but by then d money is gone.Put it in prayers also.It works.

Someone suggests they could rid if the ovary with the endomeriosis then go ahaead with donor's egg.

Another said i could drain a day before the ET and there wont be problems with implantation.

Then i asked if there's any herbal drugs(not babalawo), or supplements i can take to help my situation.

I dont mind halting this cycle again if i have to.

Want to try ALL options first then use surrogacy as the last.

I would say do both. Use a surrogate and yourself.
Even without the complications you have IVF has at most 50/50.

Can your own eggs be retrieved? Are they viable?

Talk to your medic and get second and third opinions.
Consider the options that safeguard mother and child.

Suggest using both a surrogate and yourself He maybe more amenable to that.
There's an IvF thread here too you can ask there.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (hbot) and endometriosis by HBOT Providers in Port Harcourt:

People with endometriosis can conceive naturally but they have very low chances. Ivf increases the chances very insignificantly because the problems created by endometriosis cannot be corrected by ivf alone.

Endometriotic lesions produce toxic substances which inhibit fertility. The toxic chemicals and autoimune disfunction in endometriosis keep the body in a permanent state of inflamation. They damage the ovaries and eggs.
Endometriotic tissues leave scars and adhesions and blockages after healing, and more surgeries cause more scars and adhesions. Endometriosis is a complex condition that needs a more scientific approach.

The use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (hbot) has been advocated by fertility doctors who know about hbot and the positive effects on fertility.

HBOT is known to neutralise or correct most of the negative effects of endometriosis thereby significantly increasing the chances of pregnancy several times. This can be done either single handedly with hbot alone or in combination with other fertility technology (hbot plus others).

HBOT improves fertility rate
by -neutralising the inflamatory process,
-regulating the hormonal system
-detoxyfying the body
-neutralising the effects of free radicals and oxidative stress which can damage cells as seen in endometriosis
-increases blood and oxygen supply to the ovaries
-producing healty and mature folicles
-producing better eggs in quantity and quality
-prevents the fragmentation of chromozomes and stabilising the dna.
-heals endometrial scars
-increases endometrial thickness for normal implantation.
-increases blood and oxygen supply in the endometrium (most ivfs fail because of this)

-protects the endometrium from adhesion and scarification after a surgical procedure by quickly rebuilding it.
-reduces the pains of endometriosis
-decreases the number and size of cysts.
These facts have been carefully researched and verified by physicians
No other medical process can povide these benefits all at the same time.
There is need to involve other medical specialties because it is a complex issue.
If some women can get pregnant with endometriosis it means the body needs a little adjustment or tweak and that is where hbot comes in. Enriching the whole body with oxygen is the best treatment anyone can ever have.
In HBOT you just sit down comfortably in a presurised chamber and breathe 100% oxygen.
We can work with fertility clinics to fulfill your dreams.
Surrogacy or donor gives only temporary joy. You receive peace of mind in just developing superior eggs from your ovary and having a personal experience of pregnancy. This is possible with hbot.
HBOT is highly beneficial for any patient trying to conceive or have had one or more failed pro-fertility procedures including ivf.

May all those ttcs have favour from God.
