Which reports were saying 5 were killed? See how dead bodies of Hausas littered the whole streets of Ife.
These Hausas got it wrong, Ife/Modakeke that warred for over 3 years will not find it hard fighting Hausas on their soil. I remember few years back when robbers came to Banks in lagere, you needed to see how vigilantes from Ife and Modakeke came out to repel them like they had been waiting for a day just for shoot out exercise.
Ife and Modakeke are very tough people you don't mess with. So sad for these wasted souls. Hoping this crisis has been settled finally?

I'm suppose to write something touchy like OMG, they don't deserve this sort of treatment or RIP to the dead but fvck that!

If you know what this hausa people are capable of or if you've witnessed their evil first hand then you wouldn't want to share a world with them. The first time I saw a fresh dead body still pumping blood was in Kaduna. They ripped a man open from his belly to his chest area. Next time, they should stay on their lane.

You come to the cradle of Yoruba race to kill Yorubas and you think you'll be left alone?

The hausa/Fulani plan is usually this: kill people and run away. The army comes in before the other party retaliates. Unfortunately for them this time, the reprisal killings took place in the inner streets and mazes which the security agents dare not venture into.

My fear is not what happened in the daytime, it is what is happening tonight in the dark.

This senseless bloodbath needs to be stopped ASAP. Policemen n soldiers are of no use. The Ooni and Aregbe should act immediately.

The poor killing the poor.

This is quite shameful!

When do we start behaving like barbarians in yoruba land. He who lives in glass house, they say doesn't throw stones because our kins men equally live in the northern part of nigeria .

There is nothing to glory in killing our fellow human (countrymen) . We should strive to keep the peace.

Notice/Warning to the apologists of One Nigeria -

Time to break up Nigeria, adopt a loose confederation or go back to the pre-1966 arrangement/system.

Truth is, Nigeria is more divided, more dis-united and with more inter-ethnic hatred now than pre 1966.

The souls of the duo of Lord Lugard and J. T. U. Aguiyi-Ironsi will never know peace whereever they are for what they did to the people of southern nigeria in particular and the entire nigeria in general.

We recently condemned the xenophobia attacks in South Africa, targeted mostly on the African migrants, including other nationals. It kept giving us a disturbing effects, and the questions that kept coming into our minds was, that why should Africans be killing their African brothers? That why should the hatred graduated to the levels that made people of the same colors, killing and maiming their brothers from the same continent. It becomes more saddening that people from the same country,"Nigeria" could repeat the same devilish scenario that we all condemned and castigated few weeks back. Our love for each other in this great country would continue to go on decline,as long that we consider ourselves as people of different tribes and of different ethnicity, rather than value each other as one Nigerian, one people. The latest fight between Hausa and their host in Ile-Ife,shows conclusively that United Nigeria project is a pie in the sky. Its terribly disheartening that we have failed to recognize ourselves firstly as a Nigerian, but put more emphasizes on the tribe or ethnic group we individually belongs, invariably we can unequivocally inferred that we are sitting on keg of gunpowder,as crisis like this will continue to bedeviled us. The most poignant of this are the innocents ones who have been killed or permanently maimed for life

this is sad....but at least some people will stop calling some people cowards.

Yoruba first option is always dialogue in a bid to keep the peace or resolve conflict. if dialogue does not work out...believe me they have fought countless wars and are not afraid of war. its that desire to dialogue that some people mistake as cowardice. Inter tribal wars was rife among the yoruba...ijebu, egba, ekiti, ijesha, oyo, egbado name it.

its the way they are wired.

When I heard fight broke out, I just laughed at hausas. You can go on killing spree in the whole Federation, but not in Ile-Ife.

Ile-Ife is a devilish town. Very dangerous. Too fetish a town.

Hausas should just learn their lessons from this. And the most dangerous part of it is, Modakeke people are joining the fight.

This is the first Time Modakeke and Ife people are uniting for one reason. And Hausa plenty for Ile-Ife.

It means more flesh for sacrifice to the gods.

Violence will never solve anything.

You don't see Yorubas dictating or killing their host. Yorubas are peaceful.

Afonja-Ilorin has taught Yorubas a precious lesson. They never joke with their territory again.

They will never treat any ethnic aggressor with jelly hand again.

It shouldn't have been Ife or anywhere in Osun. You can kill anyhow in Lagos, but Osun state? I pity your forefathers.

I don't support killing, but don't make ife people look too bad because they seemed to have upper hand. Hausaa spilled the first blood, they started what they couldn't even endure or end. SO because Ife now killed Hausas in tens or hundreds, we should forget the Hausas who have been noted for not respecting their host cities and dared to first kill someone from the city?
Are the pictures gory and saddening? Yes.

Could the killings have been avoided? Yes, if the Hausas had reasoned like humans and stop being violent upon little issues.

Should Ife people have ran away or watched as Hausas killed their people? NO, I would also kill back in tens/hundreds to send a strong signals to them that your host community are not a weak people.

SO, condemn and tell Hausas to reason like humans and stop killing people whenever issues arise between hausas and non-hausas.
No one, I repeat, No one has monopoly of violence.
I condemn this killing , seeing human dead bodies all over, but Hausas called for it.

I am from MOdakeke, You don't wanna mess with Ife or Modakeke people who have fought wars for years on their home soil, when many of them still have charms and weapons they used during the crisis in their homes.
If you know sunday igboho, as strong, feared and popular as he is today in oyo state, he was molested, chased and would have been killed in Modakeke if he stayed further when he started intimidating people because he felt he was a warrior and feared by many after that crisis. Modakeke made him know no stranger would come and intimidate us here, he fled when he was already 'smelling' death on his head.

Again, respect your host community, you can't practically win them in fight on their soil.

Thanks for nice reply, never knew ife people where this brave, but I still insist that they went too far.

if you look closely at one of those pics you will see a man selling onions been killed also, so you can see that innocent Hausa will suffer this attack .

at least ife people have proven to be brave, unlike those from middle belt turning refugee in there own land.

Nigeria is not united.. I still insist we go back to regional system of Government.

Don't mind those Ipod Igbos. If Ife peeps hadn't given them a dose of violence and revenge, these savages called ipod yoots would still be the ones to come here and taunt the yourbas and call them cowards for watching while abokis slaughter them. Just ignore them.

Aboki spilled the first blood and Ife peeps reciprocated in gretaer measures. 10 eyea for an eye; 10 teeth for a tooth! Nuff said! To hell with sophistication!
