These States & Private bus companies have become coffins. Every week, they are involved in ghastly accidents. Most times is over speeding & wrong overtaking. Invariably, the drivers do not have the experience to drive passenger vehicles.

Road Safety should sit up & concentrate less on vehicle particulars & dwell more on safety.

Sometime ago.i took out to the express and wanted to make a turn to the left cause there was was some shortcut but filled witj big stones..so i stepped on park just to tuen..low and behold.a long trailer was about 5feet frm behind..na dah day i drive asphalt airborne 8.
I swarved to the left on a 0 to 30sec..d lorry only gave me a paint scratch and said i be sharp guy..omo dah day i wud af been crushed to death..and to have it all good..those big ass rocks i was trying not to climb wit ma s.u.v avtually helped me to the other side of the road.
Experience is best ..but excessive speed na.

I stopped entering peace after their driver overtook 3 trailers on a bridge and narrowly escaped a face on collision with another on coming trailer on our way to Abuja in 2010.

the problem with the transport sector is the insurance cover,how can you put injury cover at 25k and death at 100k? so in a bus of18 that 1.8 million if everybody dies, which just 10% cost of buying the bus. Government should increase it to injury 500k and death 5 million and see how accident will reduce by 90%.

I'm appalled at the reasoning of many on this thread. We see a 3 vehicle accident and because one of them so happens to be a PMT bus, its the one automatically at fault eh? Yes, the PMT has had more than a fair share of accidents in its segment of transportation, but this condemnation is really uncalled for. Looking at the scene of the accident, the PMT bus was heavily side swiped and rear ended (and probably thrown off the road) by either the Porsche or the Cross Country's Hiace. We do not know the narrative of this accident, let's not cast spurious aspersions.

Though I agree peace mass transit has more buses and will more likely get involved in more accidents based on probability but d selection process of their drivers is also suspect.
Looks like their chairman sees d company as an empowerment programme for every tout from his native Nsukka who can step on d throttle cable.

For once I don't think it's the fault of the PMT driver and that is in itself shocking because they drive like raped apes.

PMT was rear ended, maybe not by the SUV (using the term loosely). It seems that PMT hit something that also tried to come in through the windscreen. I'm suspecting one of those bovines.
