This is a sensitive topic. As a Christian, my personal opinion remains that it is very wrong for a male believer to be a gynecologist

1) Examining the breast of a woman that is not your wife as a heterosexual male is wrong
2) Examining the private parts of a female that isn't your wife is totally wrong
3) Some male doctors develop feelings for their patients and vice versa
4) Our sight is a gateway to temptation
5) If a woman examines the private parts of a male patient how will he feel, assuming he has a wife, how will she feel?

I can go on but let me stop here, it is wrong and no religions supports it
It doesn't work that way....when you see diverse breast and pussy everyday at work......saving a life will overshadow the fact you are touching the body of a woman.

If you ve seen a woman in labour before....at that time she careless about whether the doctor attending to her is male or female cos at that particular point in time she just want the baby out safely by the best hands available

But the wife of a born again Christian can be attended to by a male gynecologist?
Do gynecologists attend to women for fun?
Where do we think boko haram ideologies emanated from?

You sir are a disgrace to Christianity and are no different from the Pharisees. The Bible says a man who looks at a woman lustfully commits adultery and vice versa, the question to ask is does a woman have to be naked to look at her lustfully?
If the answer is no, then Men and women should not live in the same town/country together because a man be him a doctor, banker, lawyer or teacher would see females and there's a possiblity for lust to creep in.
Are our dear “born again" daddy GOs either been caught or accused of sleeping with different women and spending offering n tithe proceeds on d women lavishly better than a gynaecologist doing his job to save lives?

How can there be enough medical staff?

When christian male Drs are being told they cannot be gynes and obs?

When some men already feel their wives should never be seen by male gynaes?

How many female gyne/obs are registered with the Mdcn and are still in the country? Very low amount. The field is populated by men because most females don't have the time or the desire to go to that field.

Its time consuming, and involves a lot of dedication as things can easily go south. Its a field we need people that have the true fear of God in them, and are conscientious.

It isn't because of religion,it is because of a lack of funding for enough training spaces for medical residents in this country.

And yes...we do not have enough doctors. The ones that we have congregate in the cities....and very few work in the rural areas.

So if a woman who has pre-eclampsia in labour happens to live in a village that is about 2 hours drive away from the nearest health center...over rough roads...which is staffred by a community health worker...not a doctor, or even a properly trained gynae....dies....it won't be because Christians said that doctors should not become gynaecologists.

I am trying to tell you that the problem is far more complicated than you think (and I am an insider by the way. I am a doctor).

During my medical student days, we had a child who came down with measles. The child lived in a remote village 3 hours away from the nearest teaching hosptial. By the time he got to the teaching hospital, he was already seriously ill. He did not make it.

Professional gynaes don't go poking, proving and doing things outside their duties. So why can't a christian be a gynae? It will only become wrong when he begins to engage in inappropriate behaviour with patients.

What u imagine in ur mind is practically applicable to an average doctors who struggle with konji while dignoises women. one problem i have with religion and and their ridiculous ideas - they have succeeded in putting an inherent assumption of inherent evil on a particular part of the body or organ.

what is so evil about the vagina or penis - nothing.

the vagina or penis is no more evil than any other part of the body but from ludicrous religious dogmas and doctrines these parts of the human anatomy are dubbed intently evil, unclean and sinful - forgetting the same God that they worship allegedly were supposed to also be the creator of these parts of the body.

if any part of the human body is evil the the source from which these organs comes from must be evil too, so if the vagina is evil and you say God created it - then literally you are making God evil.

let us be clear here, no part of the human body is evil in the slightest nature, so unless Op somehow you dub these organs evil in some way and at the same time faulting your God then probably to you it should be wrong for christian man to be a Gyno.

but if you see these organs just as any other part of the body like any sane human should then surely enough there is no reason to condemn dentist and likewise a Gyno.

religious people spend the greater part of their life worrying over imaginary sins that they end up having not lived at all.

Funny thing is your wife/you will still visit those unchristian folks for help where they'll definitely touch her sensitive organs, which will now count as adultery by your logic since she willingly submitted her self to be examined.
How about that for hypocrisy?

Kudos to you for your contribution, It's obvious more than half of the people here have no knowledge of medical training. Where they see breast, a medical practitioner sees brown and white adipose tissue with lobes and lobules. Its saddening that that people still think this way, what a gynae sees is just tissues and flesh that won't even stir up any form of emotion. Though there could be perverts that's why there are ethics guiding the profession.

Well, the non doctors have come here and displayed their ignorance. Nigerians, ignorant, proud of it and not afraid to show it.
A believer can be a gynecologist because, by the letter of the law, a male gynecologist should have a female chaperone in the room while examining a patient. He can stimulate the clitoriszzzzzzzx to check the nervous system as far as the chaperone is there.
Besides, doctors see the human body as a specimen or a piece of meat to be rather blunt, they are looking for answers on that "piece of meat".
After handling so many breasts and vaginas, they get desensitized to it.
So, any doctor still trying to arouse a patient or gets sexually aroused in the presence of a chaperone is a sexual deviant.
So, your questions have been answered.

God bless you!

Just look at how ignorant religious some people are! They've allowed religion to block their sense of reasoning! This isn't how Jesus presents Christianity but some have ignorantly turned it to something else! Sometimes, when I see how some of my fellow Christians reasons or behaves, I feel ashamed of them!

Look at how some of them degraded a trained medical doctor as if there's no professionalism in the field! Chai! some people reasonings get as e be o!

So,,a born again Christian should never allow a male gynaecologist to attend to her, such a one should prefer to die rather than have a male gynaecologist to attend to her, since to her, it's religiously wrong! Na wa o!

I expected this from one of the atteists. However, if actually you read my thread and have no problem with comprehension, you will realise that this is not about any part of the body being evil. Every part of our body is good just like God Who made it but some parts are more sacred and naturally kept secretive (at least from the opposite sex) whether by Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, moralists, traditionalists, pagans, agonists, free thinkers, or the irreligious/atteists. It appears you have a beef with religious people and just looking for the slightest opportunity to attack what we stand for albeit with your nonsensical contradiction. I am particular about the born again Christians because we seriously believe and preach about life after death, the need for repentance/salvation from sin and purity of heart and life as a precondition to avoid eternal damnation in hell fire and enjoy eternal bliss after this brief life. Back to topic. Is it proper for a born again Christian to study to become a gynaecologist or to practise such as a profession? Will such a one be pure and heaven-bound? Is such a person not in danger of eternal perdition?
You've asked so many questions sire. I want to know. When we were born, when babies are born, were we naked?

You are wrong sir. Having become a follower of Christ, it predisposes that he would not involve himself (from the time of knowing Christ) in anything unclean, perverse or immoral. Thanks.
Egon, even after meeting Jesus, he was still regarded as a physician. Even aftwr his demise, he's still regarded as Luke the physician not disciple Luke or apostle Luke. Before you quote half of new testament, @ least get ur facts straight. No honor in dishonor.

my take..

being a born- again male gynaecologist may not be a sin, the sin is when you allow your job to lead you into sin by allowing the female sensitive organs you work on daily to over-whelm you.

You know yourself more than any other person, if you know you cannot control yourself, its better you quit than go to hell.

Alternatively, pray seriously to God to help you over-come temptation and ask for grace for self-control.

Also, always pray silently in your mind every-time you want to attend to any patient and even when you are currently attending to the patient.. speak in tongues if you can and rebuke every spirit of lust...

Lastly, always make sure you are not always alone with a female patient when treating her, let at least one female nurse be with you.

Above all, ask God for help and HE will always help you

My brother, lemme clear the air. Firstly, I concur with you although I've not seen any situation that requires them stimulating the clitoris for whatever ( as in no medical condition requiring that to the best of my knowledge). Beneath all this 'godly inquiries', I just see a bunch of jealous fellas. Now I understand why the Catholic church haunted most of the enlightened in illuminated ones in the past. This is just an extension of that ancient struggle between religion and knowledge.

Already answered above

It is unethical for a doctor to be involved with a patient. The doctor could lose his/her license over such alliance.
Doctors don't fuckkkkkkk with that rule.

There are female urologists. They examine the penissssss and rectum all day long and have no issues with it.

Bible passage where it's written that treating the opposite sex is wrong, please.
I thought of answering all those allegations but where to start from just weak me. I've seen a similar thread last month or thereabouts still here on NL. Someone saying some gibberish about being molested by a gynaecologist during examination for suspected breast lump ( as if women with breast lumps suddenly forget the general surgeons consult and jump into the laps of the nearest gynaes). Ignorance is most terrible when warped around religion. Nothing distorts the human mind more, trust me. I've seen it all.

And procreation is the work of God. Did I mention that he prays over his cases. Yes,he has now been made a consultant and I'm so proud of him. How many female gynecologist do we even have? When did society even allow women to start aiming high? If not for the males who veered into that career early enough more women will die in pregnancy and childbirth. I have been treated by females(thrice) and they are not even better. I remember during my postpartum issues,it was the female who left me and went home not minding that I was bleeding. Whereas I thought she would have been more compassionate. God bless all responsible gynecologist(male & female). You are a gift to mankind. And if you are a Christian ,better.

A gynaecologist is a medical doctor who specialises in treating women especially on sexual reproduction. As part of his/her job, he/she has to look at the unclothedness of women repeatedly and occasionally fumble with (sensitive) parts of their bodies. A born again Christian who hopes to make it to heaven and see God must be pure in heart (Matthew 5:cool and holy in conduct (Hebrews 12:14). Should a born again Christian who is a boy/man study or practise gynaecology as a profession?

Thank God you are a woman so you will still talk from experience,I just did. And it goes both ways because many female nurse touch male organs. When a man wan do surgery na babes dey shave their pricks.
I'm not a man but I know that most gynecological examination are not pleasurable. Majority of them are even very painful. Sensitive exams are done in the presence of females nurses/doc or male assistant most times. And not only gynecology exposes body parts, even in surgery the patients go naked. So Christian males should not be surgeons, sonographers, lab scientist(they do v-swap),nurses etc because in all these professions they see female sensitive body parts. Will you rather be examined by an unbeliever male than a believer. The Holy Spirit in a man gives self control. An atheist can have self induce control takeless of a Christian. You are talking about breast examinations;do you know that all doctors are trained to do breast exams? And Surgeons and Oncologist(cancer doc) do more breast exams than gynecologist? So Christian males should not be doctors?

SIR ...I have taken time to go through ur comments on this thread .... THEY ARE VERY SCHOLARLY... THANK YOU

The man is indeed wise. OK most Christians suffer from ignorance...and its sad sha. At the council of the apostles in Jerusalem..to reduce the burden of the law for the gentiles (as in the circumcision issue) three major things were agreed upon
1. Avoid sexual immortality
2. Avoid eating strangled meat and meat with blood
3. Avoid food sacrificed to idols..and all forms of idolatry.
Considering number 3, in Paul's letter to the Corinthians, he said explicitly that food can be eaten with a good conscience that you are not being told it is sacrificed to idols and with giving of thanks. Yes in their day...virtually all meat and food were dedicated to idols of fertility.. in Greek culture...but the Christians still ate it undefiled...why? The state of the heart. In doing your job as a male gyno...d state of your heart is important...you are a professional... U dnt start lusting in your heart after what you see...U must obey all rules concerning decency and be present with your chaperone. Its that simple...personally there is very limited chance I will see a pretty lady naked and not be aroused...so gyno is off for me..I'm being honest with myself. U get it now?
