I have said it countless times I cannot settle with a lady that feel comfortable been a cost centre to my life. If she will not be contributory to the union, then she is only as good as a girlfriend.

bros, I don't like commenting on long threads cos I believe the OP would already have been overwhelmed with all sort of mentions but I just have to.
I understand d need to sacrifice a certain sum of amount to ur wife, I believe ur doing this for the best of intentions, Love.

but brov, for you to see it as a statutory payment and which in ur terms call salary, you are absolutely as someone spotted earlier putting a huge strain on ur marriage, I pray ur marriage would not crash so, u have to put corrective measures to this issue.
because as it stands, u have created a spirit of entitlement to your wife. and ur wife seems like the slay Queen kinda woman who loves to impress.

am not saying 30k is too much for a woman to get every month, am not saying she didn't deserve it judging from how much u love her.

my advice is this however, forget about the inflation she did to d med fee, patch things up with her, let both of u forget bout wah happind. pay her ur customary monthly due cos u can't just stop like that. saying u wanna punish her by stoping would stir up d relationship, trust me, as u have said, she isn't sober biout d inflation, so any attempt to stop cash flow is WAR my broda.
back to my advice. pay her like 2 months more, then on d 3rd month, come up with a story before the 3rd month on how u damaged something at work or any other kinda liability and that u have to pay back which will put strains on ur expenses.
with this, an understanding wife should sympathise with u n make up her mind to assist u get over ur debt. for this 2-3months period or more depending on u, don't pay her "salary"
but fufil all ur other husband/father financial duties
watch how she behaves, if she gets provoked by ur non payment despite ur perceived shortcoming and becomes overly wrathful, bro, u have a very big problem.
but, if she supports u with all smiles n constantly asks u d state of things at work with passion n interest, then brov, u have no problem.

d deal is to determine how she values ur relationship in d absence of money, cos bro live ain't a bed of roses o, if anything happens in future n ur financial capabilities is threatend will ur wife understand? or that is when she will start picking fights with u every now n then.
its in d absence of money a man knows if he is been loved for d right reasons or not.
its time for you to know where u stand rather than u having stronger issues in d future.

I admire ur commitment to ur family, moist men wunt sacrifice that much for d family. welldone BTW, even if it's teaching work in a private school, never let a woman be unproductive, it's a backward move.

Nigeria men and slavery in the name of marriage look at what you got yourself into

At first you married a student , greedy self center girl lady or woman because I don't really know her age

I wonder how much you pay your folks who fought so hard to make sure you became who you are today ? I guess nothing

Instead of paying that 17% to her open up acount for your kid with it

I know the truth is always bitter this your so call marriage is base on mutual benefit not love

You will thank me later when she graduate, how many of your siblings are you actually sponsorin in school non I guess

Lol
Abegi close your mouth with that your advice, home breakers, I don't blame you, I blame the husband that brought his family out here for public discussion.

I blame you for one thing, you shouldn't have confronted your wife, u should have waited for such to repeat, then you react
She was wrong but just few women will agree that it was a wrong act, she feels you are monitoring her moves
But my advice to you is that, don't beg her until she come to you and tell you she's sorry, but as soon as she beg for forgiveness, immediately forgive her and forgot it

I don't know how to advise you as I'm not married.

But of a fact, I believe you saw these traits and tendencies while dating so I won't condemn her actions. There is no way you will date a woman in 6 months and not notice her countenance towards money. Some men are totally cool with such actions anyway.

For me, I can't live with a woman that demands or expects monthly salary from me. I can give you my card, pin to withdraw whatever amount you want, but salary?! No, I won't! You might say my position is worse, but then again, I won't even be with a woman I can't trust with my ATM in the first place. That action is wrong and any woman that allows that needs to check herself, something is definitely wrong. You should be with a woman you can trust with your most cherished resources.

Secondly, I cannot marry a student (personal reasons).

As you have seen, my points are irrelevant to you. We share opposing views.

I stand with you bro 100%.

Don't forget to add nepa bills, security bills, baby items and clothes, fuel for gen and car, garri, bread, beverages, cooking items and oil, washing items, water, school fees and books, parent upkeep, tithe, waste bill, health and miscellaneous.

Now add all these to the list you mentioned and do the maths.

Lots of women inflate home expenses, it's their way of raising cash which comes in handy at a later date (doesn't make it right). You really tried to give her 17.2%, that's even more than the allocation for God (10%) cheesy. Don't relent bro_ it's part of your duty as the head of the house(it's not a favour, same way she has her duties too).
I must say, almost 100% increase reeks of pure greed. Your wife is greedy and inconsiderate. It's worse that she sees nothing wrong in it, you reserve the right to be angry and I apologise on her behalf.

A woman would give such astronomical false increment;
1)If she thinks you earn more than you actually earn, so she deserves more than 17.2%.
2)She is greedy (i.e) lives above her means.
3)She has expenses she doesn't want you to know of (e.g, sending to her family).
4)The husband is stingy (you're not stingy @ 17.2%, considering that you handle every other expense).

Ur truly a rare gem.. kiss

My wife whom I love so much and also loves me too is entitled to 17.2% of my monthly income, my salary is 175kpm and she take 17.2% of this amount, yet she feels very uncomfortable with it

I pay the bills, buy food stuff every month and take care of our little baby girl

My baby girl does not take any local food, she takes only fresogold, tea and pap, the cost of fresogold is very high and she can consume 4tins in a month

My wife isn't not working yet she is still schooling and I pay all her fees,

I've never complaint of my duty as the head of the family yet she still feels unsatisfied with the 17.2% I give to her

Her primary duty in the house is to take care of our baby and prepare my dinner every week days and both break fast and dinner during the weekend

Recently I told her to take our baby to the hospital for treatment, our total bill was 11,500 naira but my wife suprisinly told me that the hospital bill is 22,700 naira which I immediately wired to her account

So I called the hospital to make inquiries about the exorbitant bill then I got to know that my wife inflated the hospital bill to 22,700 naira

I confronted her and she spoke to me very rudly I was not happy about this, I kept quite and didn't say anything about it again

I am thinking I should penalize her for her rude behaviour and the dishonesty she has melted on me

Will it be advisable not to pay her her monthly salary for two months ?

Will this correct her brain to default and what would possibly be the implication of doing this ?

She has not apologised and she has not seen anything wrong so far in what she has done

My bro u may hv a serious problem on ur hands if she d greedy type and hopefully u may not if this is just a silly thing women do just to get more from their husbands bt whatever d case try to sit here down and emphasize the importance of trust and y she must change if needed or how she may better go about it. Try also no to be hard bt rather friendly in ur conversations. Shes ur wife and not ur daughter. All the best

So sorry OP

So she gets around 30k as pocket money every month, and you pay all the bills buy everything needed and pay fees and school stuffs. That should be okay for her manage for personal effects I think, people earn 30k as salary nau.

That aside I see a lot of"I" "I" "I" in your statements its not all about you bro, You also mentioned the primary duties which you say is baby sitting, cooking your dinner during the week and both dinner and lunch during weekends, its quite a lot of work not as easy as it looks.

Not giving her her pocket money as a form of punishment translates to you not taking up your responsibility as a husband , you are meant to provide for her and take care of her and that should not change because of a misunderstanding especially since she has no source of income yet, where do u expect her to get money from if you seize her allawee.

Its better you communicate (not confront) to her let her know you were not happy with the extra she added on it, ask if she needed some extra stuffs at that time, ask why she did it was the 30k not enough for her that month?
Its not easy being in a position of being totally drpendednt and not having any money of your own, you need to see from her own view point too. She may have had extra need (you didn't mention she has inflated stuffs for you before ) and didn't want ti tell you about it since you already think she's not satisfied with the 17.2%

Why are some of the guys on this thread making a mountain out of a molehill?.

Most men whose wives are stay at home mothers get monthly stipends which is for their upkeep. Some women inflate prices of things to their husbands as a means to add more money to their wallets, for some men they find out and don't care cos they understand the rationale behind it. As for her rude attitude it's bad and is what should bother you most. Not her inflation of hospital bills. Would you let N11,200 cost you your marriage?.

It's so pathetic that we have gotten to a point where people publicly support and encourage deception/dishonesty/deceit. Whatever happens to telling her husband that she needs more money instead of inflating the cost of hospital bill? Haba! Lord have mercy! I hate deception with every fiber of my being. Couples are suppose to be honest with each other nah?
