No! But it's good and desirable when there's no hindrance to doing it. It's part of obeying Christ who said, Go...make disciple...teach...baptizing them...in the name of...the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism is an ancient practice long before Christianity that signifies rebirth. The Egyptians used the water from the nile to "purify" new born babies or a way to initiate new converts into secret cults. A way to be born into a new way of life. Christianity obviously adopted all these pagan ways of life, including " sun - day" worship of the Sun
But jessus was baptist so what are you saying.

Baptism is by immersion, any other form of baptism is unacceptable

Of what relevance will it be if an act is not a prerequisite for the salvation of your soul. We are not justified by the law but by faith in Christ. Gal 2:16

You are not getting the point. We are not even talking about its relevance, we are looking at different form of baptism being done today. If you desire to get baptised by water, at least do it the proper way

1 Peter 3:21

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Act 2:38
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Mark 16:16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Romans 6:4
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

I can go on and on but i believe this will answer your question

I'm not a bible scholar or know much bible verse and i may make bible reference without verses..

The question is 'is water baptism really necessary to fufil all righteousness?'..

There are great men in the bible that are righteous and didnt do baptism(e.g abraham, enoch was righteous that he didnt even die,job etc)..Peter also said that 'be baptize in the name of holyspirit...'

And jesus christ also did baptism b4 starting his ministry..

So the question are:do we need water baptism before we are save?..if i dont have water baptism,am i still a devoted christian?..if i dont have water baptism,we i still make heaven?..so many question to ask buh will stop there..

I'm sure all those men i mentioned up there are sure in heaven(and they didnt do baptism)...
Pls,i need answers..

I will assume you are honest with this question, so here is an honest Biblical answer:

JESUS-CHRIST solemnly commanded baptism and that is the reason why Christians must observe it. Read Matthew 28:19. This Bible passage teaches that as we preach to people, we also baptize those that believe.
Read also Mark 16:15-16.

The lesson from the above verses is that people who believe in Jesus Christ, but are not baptized are half way on the road to Salvation. Read 1st Peter 3:21 and see that baptism is what can make a person stand before God on the last day to express words like:
"I did everything I was commanded in all good conscience..."

The early Christians understood the importance of baptism as you can see in:
Acts 2: 36-42 where 3000 people were preached to and baptized in one day without delaying.

Acts 8:26-38 where evangelist Philip preached to the Euthopian man and upon believing, had him baptized that moment.

Acts 9:1-18 where Saul (now Paul) was converted and baptized even though Paul's convention was more of devine handiwork.

Acts 10:1-48 where cornelius who was reckoned as a good man already, alongside others had to be baptized in order for them to be saved. You will understand the content of 1st peter 3:21 better when you consider that Cornelius who was already a good man was baptized in order to be saved.

NOTE PLEASE:
ABRAHAM, ENOCH, JOB, DAVID, ELIJAH, ELISHA, MOSSES, (you can keep naming the great men of the old testament) WERE NOT CHRISTIANS BUT GOD'S SERVANTS UNDER DIFFERENT DISPENSATIONS OF TIME AS CONTAINED IN THE SCRIPTURE.

THE CONCEPT OF BAPTISM IS A CHRISTIAN ONE. YOU WONT FIND IT IN THE LAW OF MOSSES WHICH UNDER LIE JUDAISM.

2ND TIMOTHY 2:15 says you should be able to understand and teach the Bible correctly....
It includes you being able to understand the word of God according to dispensations and ages.

We had the patriac age- times of Adam to Noah...; the Mosaic age- Mosses time to pre-Christ's coming; now we have Christian age.
Pls note that how God interacted with people had differed through the ages.

Ages change and differed, but God remained the same. The reason why we call him God of all ages.

First of all let's ask ourselves why did Jesus let John to baptize him?

Note pls:
The baptism of John the Baptist is different from the baptism Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19; Mark16:15-16.
The difference is that John's baptism was for "preparing the way of the Lord" that's in getting people ready for Jesus' ministry. (It wasn't for salvation and even John the Baptist never said it was for salvation).

The baptism Jesus commanded is for salvation as Jesus said that "whosoever believes and is baptized will be saved".

Pls. Note the distinction.

don't mind ignorant, false teachers

water baptism is an ordinance, ordinance includes what we call holy Communion.

they change nothing, they don't REGENERATE they don't make you accepted with God

it's only important to keep the ordinances

baptism is a sign (symbol) of being joined with Christ..... there are SAVED SAINTS WHO DIDN'T have water baptism

the holy saving baptism is baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT done by Jesus and also the holy Spirit himself....

you can't call for it ..... Jesus baptise with the spirit how he wills

Believers' baptism can't save only Christ baptism saves, Jesus baptism saves because when Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River John the Baptist transferred all the sin of the world to His head in the form of laying on of hands of the Old Testament. Because believers are saved first before they are baptized, so salvation comes first before water baptism! Read the acts of the apostles, they baptized after people hear the word of God and received remission of sins and the Holy Spirit i.e after they were baptized by the Holy Spirit! So when 1 Peter 3:21 says baptism saves, it cannot be believers baptism because salvation precedes believers water baptism! Believers then must be baptized as a confirmation of their faith in the baptism of Jesus Christ. So if by any means someone receives water baptism first, it is useless until he hears the words of the Kingdom and believes. Do you now see why Roman Catholic infant baptism is of no use?
Again, to be baptized into Christ as Galatians 3:27 says is to believe in the baptism of Jesus Christ! Why? Because It said those who baptized into Christ have put on Christ, so let us go back to the acts of apostles chapter 10. It's about Peter and Cornelius' household. Cornelius and his family and friends put on Christ first (for they received the Holy Spirit, which then means they received the remission of sins) before they received water baptism! To delve deeper into this, let me start by going back to the Old Testament sacrificial system.
I beseech you to be well-versed in the Old Testament, only then you will come to understand the New Testament well. Hear what Paul being inspired by the Holy Spirit said about the way Christ died for our sins "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,"(1 Corinthians 15:3-4). How did Christ die for our sins? It is according to the scriptures What does it mean by according to the scriptures? It means that Christ died in the same way as the Old Testament sacrificial system of atonement of sins. Because when Paul was writing the epistle, there was nothing like the New Testament, they were only using the Old Testament. Do you know the Old Testament sacrificial system well? If you do, then you will not find it hard to understand the ministry of John the Baptist. You want to see it written literally that 'John the Baptist is a High Priest' before you believe. The Bible is a word of God and cannot be understood all by a carnal man. From the duty of John the Baptist we came to understand that he is indeed a High Priest. Now let me go back to the sacrificial system of laying on of hands so that you may come to understand this John the Baptist well, who is a High Priest and a representative of all mankind. John the Baptist is the greatest among those born of a woman, he is greater than Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, David and all Roman Catholic Popes, and Mary the mother of Jesus in the flesh! “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."(Matthew 11:11) and again Jesus said that John is more than a prophet, He was implying that John is also a High Priest. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet"(Matthew 12:9). Now open your ears and listen to me as I explain the sacrificial system to you. Be fair-minded, just as those in Berea. "These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so."(Acts 17:11).

TEXTS:

"Now the LORD called to Moses, and spoke to him from the tabernacle of meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When any one of you brings an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock. ‘If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the LORD. Then he shall put his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. He shall kill the bull before the LORD; and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of meeting."(Leviticus 1:1-5)

“And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the tabernacle of meeting, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat. Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness."(Leviticus 16:20-22)

The Old Testament is a shadow of the New Testament. The sacrifial system of the Old Testament is the way God atoned the sins of Israelites through the High Priest and sacrifial animals that beared the daily and then yearly sins of Israelites, in the SAME WAY God atoned for the sins of the whole world through John the Baptist who represented the High Priest and Jesus who stood as a sacrifial Lamb who forever beared all mankind sins.
Now compare them, they are perfect match! In the Old Testament there were 3 conditions for God to accept the sin offering
(1) Animal without "blemish" must be used.

(2) The High Priest must lay his hands on the head of sacrifial animal so as to transfer the sins committed by the person or the whole congregation of Israel to body of the animal.

(3) Then the animal must be killed and its blood shed on behalf of the people who committed the sins.

(Lev. 1:1-5, Lev. 16:20-21)

In the New Testament the same thing happened: As it is written in 1 John 5:6 6 This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth."

(1) Jesus came without blemish i.e without sin, and a sacrificial Lamb.

(2) John the Baptist laid his hands on His head during the baptism so as to transfer our sins to Jesus body, as the High Priest.

(3) Then Jesus Christ carried the sins to the Cross where He shed His blood on our behalf.

John the Baptist happens to be the one who first preached the repentance message. Jesus Christ continued it after John. So, if your idea of repentance does not mirror that preached by John the Baptist, how can it be said to be true? undecided

Jones4190:
According to the Bible, the symbolism of baptism declares that three things happen to believers who are baptized:
(1) they die with Christ to their old self;
(2) they rise with Christ to become a new creature; and
(3) they are incorporated in their new life with a living community which looks for the coming of the Lord (Romans 6:1-11).
Contrary to what some denominations teach, it seems obvious that a Christian's baptism must necessarily require a responsible decision to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and therefore, must be delayed until an age of reason or discretion (knowing right from wrong within God's perspective).
If I may add, what Paul actually meant in his epistle there is that baptism is meant as a symbolic ritual to mark the abandoning of the Old Way— following the Law of Moses — to adopt instead the New Way— God's New agreement and Law in the Kingdom of God. The old-man-new-creature reference there is to the fact that the switch is to be likened to one no longer living under the same sets of rules one used to but rather one is made to live under rules that apply to an eternal creature. The confusion comes in when people claim to have been automagically transformed/changed — character and demeanor— by the process when in fact no such is possible as a born-again remains a sinner — his sin-debts intact and unchanged— whose next decisions decide if his end will be in eternal reward or in eternal damnation. undecided

■ The simplest answer to this question is found in the meaning of the word 'baptize.' It comes from a Greek word which means 'to submerge in water.' Therefore, baptism by sprinkling or by pouring is an oxymoron, something that is self-contradictory. Baptism by sprinkling would mean 'submerging someone in water by sprinkling water on them.' Baptism, by its inherent definition, must be an act of immersion in water
When God spoke of His baptism in Ezekiel 36 vs 25 - 26, God spoke rather of sprinkling of water on His people. So was God mistaken since His description does not adhere in anyway for form to your conclusion as far as the meaning of the Word? undecided

It does not matter whether you immerse a person or not, what instead matter is the detail of the exercise - Baptism for repentance. If you do not baptize for the reasons given by God Himself, it is false baptism and unacceptable by God. Only those reasons acknowledged by John, the one God sent with the message is honored by God. undecided

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan River. He came to John, wanting John to baptize him.
14 But John tried to stop him. John said, “Why do you come to me to be baptized? I should be baptized by you!”
15 Jesus answered, “Let it be this way for now. We should do whatever God says is right.” Then John agreed.
16 So Jesus was baptized. As soon as he came up out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw God’s Spirit coming down on him like a dove.
17 A voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the one I love. I am very pleased with him.” - Matthew 3 vs 13 - 17
Does any of what transpired between Jesus Christ and John the Baptist in that context seem like it should somehow apply as far as you? undecided

Jesus Christ never said it matters how you do. The mode the water is applied has no impact on the ritual itself as rather what is of importance is the fact that Repentance, an abandoning of the Old Way, and a rebirth in the New way and fountain of Living water is what is instead marked by the ritual. undecided
