Thank you very much Gotaya for the updates, I av exams for this week and next week so i myt still update less frequently. i amexcited about the number of away wins flowing in the NNL. A shocking fact is that the NNL has now recorded about 7 away wins in lesser number of games compared to the NPFL. it took NNL just 25 games to record 5 away wins across to match days whereas NPFL needed over 70 games to record the same. Definitely better days are coming for Nigerian football

Chief Chukwuma who first brought club football to the commercial city of Nnewi in 1998 with the acquisition of Iyayi Babes with Gabros International FC, has similarly taken over Dreams International FC of Makurdi which has been re-named Nnewi United and will campaign in the Division B of the NNL 2016/2017 season.

Gabros International FC's league position and assets were acquired by Nnewi billionaire, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, renamed FCIfeanyiubah, now a Nigeria Professional Football League side and current NFF Federation Cup champions.

The multi-business mogul said his return to the game was influenced by his desire to fulfill a his passion for the game and provide opportunity for the youths, especially from the Nnewi community and hone their football talents with a view to making a decent life from it and engage in meaningful source of livelihood, as well as taking them away from restiveness.

"Nnewi United is for the people, it is for all the youths from this area and beyond. They can use it as a platform to develop their talents and make a career out of football with a view to engaging themselves with meaningul livelihood," Chief Chukwuma told Completesportsnigeria.com .

"Don't forget, I've been involved in the past, I've continued to be involved and the passion has always been there.

"We are looking at a model team, a team that will be run in the best professional manner in order to make it a big brand in Nigeria and beyond."
Nnewi United will open their campaign on March 17 with a home fixture against Gateway United.

This is good news coming from NNL. Sponsorship deals being sorted out. Another thing about the league this season is the absence of controversies despite the high rate of away win weekend upon weekend compared to what we have in the Npfl.
Big kudos to the handlers of the league. the only thing remaining is bringing fans to the stadia which will improve with time

NNL SEAL HISTORIC DEAL

The blitz sponsorship drive by the Nigeria National League, NNL,has finally yielded dividend, with the “Most Important” League sealing a three year multi-million Naira deal with top ranked Sports betting company ,BET9A in Lagos.

An obviously elated Chief Operating Officer,CEO of the NNL, Honourable Bukola Olopade said the deal which is a major one will definitely help in the rebranding effort of the NNL’s new board.

“It is a done deal ,we are happy about this development ,we can now say it is a new League,it will now be known as BET9A Nigeria National League “
“We are indeed excited, this will catapult us to a higher pedestal,it is a good deal, this was a League with a zero percentage of property to hold on to”

“We are not resting on our oars, however,in the next couple of weeks we hoping to have Startimes and an oil company come in, we are hoping for more, i can say there is a great future for the Nigeria National League”
Bukola Olopade who was a former commissioner for Sports in Ogun State also expressed delight at the progress made so far in the 2017 NNL season.

thanks, I just get disappointed with the low level of publicity for our leagues so I decided to create one for the NNL thus making use of the little update I could get from various sources .

The bet9ja deal x good for the financial health of the league, I m still expecting star times to start live broadcast of NNL matches as earlier reported before the season started

I would have the coo to in cooperate the German football ownership model. This is the best model for a country/league that have supportership and viewship apathy. The model where the community or a group of enthusiastic football lovers Are owners of the club.This will create the spirit of bondship resulting from community identity or fans identity. With this model a club is going to be runned professional as a guaranty/non profit organization under the CAC.cooperate governance will be strengthened as a result of transparency and accountability.
The model currently runned now is doom to be unproductive and unprofessional.
Government ownership breeds incompetence, corruption and lack of competitive spirit.
A good example is enyimba with the spirit the brand enyimba invokes it would have been a professional club if only the government can sell the club to the fans it will be good. Believe it enyimba have a local support ship base of 1 million die hard fans that are ready to contribute 10,000 yearly for the membership fee of the club.thereby giving the club a budget of 10 billion naira.this will entail accountability because it will be run using the barca presidential model.
The individual ownership model is the most ridiculous and unprofessional mode of running a club in Nigeria. First the owner names the club using is surname and first letters as the name. Eg.ifeanyi ubah,afe babalola,giwa, abubakar bukola saraki fc .common this rubbish how can you expect loyalty to such club if they reside in your area. Illustratively i am from anambra state,the only club in the npfl is fciu but I am a die hard fan of enyimba becos it represent the spirit of average aba man.u can't expect me to support fciu becos I don't like the personality of the owner, but trust me if the club was named Onitsha fc,awka city fc, anaedo united or nnewi united and having him as the chairman of the board of director I will have no problem with that.
Individual ownership has fund restrictions due the logistics involved in running the league case e.g stationery stores,Jasper's, udorji united and giwa FCS.
Finally I expect the NNl board to provide a basis on which the npfl will rendered a joke .my proposals are simple and applicable.
1.The naming right of the club should not represent the name of the owner,church denominations or Islamic inclination, names that brings or create extreme or sectional attachment. Rather it should be name in such a way it provides shelter for peoples opinion without creating undue disturbances. E.g afe babalola fc.Christ apostolic church fc but street name ,town name,city name or a concepted brand like papilo or go round.event inspired name like mighty jets or university owned clubs.co operate operated brand like unicem,bendel insurance and first bank.
2.The ownership model must be 50-50 for brand owned clubs like first bank where they must have 5000 registered fans with subscription fee of 1000.
If the club is owned by an individual then he must be able to have 1000 registered members with membership fee attached to it .with a well constituted board having a fans been members. E.g are babalola fc.
If it is a government owned club then it must be taken to the public for outright ownership of the club.e.g heartland fc can be sold to the public like 100,000 thousands fans having or paying 10,000 every year.
If it is a group of individual ownership then it must have a stratified layers like a group of 10 having 10,000,000 each as contribution. 100 having 1,000,000 each.1000s having 100,000 each.10,000s having 10,000 each or 100,000s having 1000 each.e.g mighty jets

It will be joke if we continue to use the same template for 20 years now without success then we need to rejig our thought in order to be progressive.
Who says we can form our club from nairaland and be the change we desire.
As the wise man once said,it is only a fool that think their is no obstacle to the progressive of the great man.we only become foolish by thinking the EPL was built a day and we need not bother growing ours because we will fail .

The bet9ja deal is a good one. it will help the clubs push for More and be truly professionals. With these they will up their games and the clubs will feel more appreciated as we have more private owned teams in the NNL than NPFL. This has shown in the level of play as we have seen more away win in this 4matchday old league than NPFL which is in its 17th match day
