Hello house. I got married 29th August 2009. I and my wife had delay in child birth. Finally in the year 2012, September 14th to be precise God gave us a wonderful boy. I won't disclose his name for personal reasons.

Ever since he started school, he has been breaking every academic records. He is presently 4 years old and in Nursery 2. I Collected his result last week and as expected he came top again. I am so proud of him.

God gave him to me to wipe the tears of delay.

Pls if you have a child or sibling who is excelling academic all pls share his/her story.

Congrats on your child's progress, it gives every parent joy to see their child(ren) excel. Hope you would have greater testimonies of him as he grows older. #letthelittlethingscount

Disgust is rather too strong a word to use on OP. They experienced delayed childbirth, then came an intelligent LO. Shouldn't the man and his wife be happy?

OP, I rejoice with you. May he excel in grace, appreciate his mini efforts _it'll go a long way in boosting his performance.

OP don't mind those calling you childish. They are entitled to their opinion anyways. Which parent no wan born genius?
But I feel you should tone down your expectations so you don't give LO too much pressure. Keep guiding LO and make him/her understand that it's not all about coming first in class but understanding the subjects that matter.

My number one prayer is for my children to be very intelligent, that's why I'm careful and selective to marry an intelligent guy too.

Op I hope you know there are late bloomers too and besides nursery school is too early a stage to use and judge if a child is gonna be a prodigy or not. Most people don't start applying themselves until late high school or in the university.

It still doesn't mean anything. There are extremely intelligent parents who have dumb children and just because someone is dumb in a certain field does not mean he won't shine in another. An Indian proverb says a tree that bears many fruits will never stand straight.

Thats very plausible and then again it depends on what you define as intelligence. Does your definition of intelligence include high analytical mathematical and physics skills.

It's not really disgust... it's a case of feeling intimidated and some sense of pride in the OP but they forgot this is a faceless forum.

I agree with you. I and my wife graduated from THESAME higher institution many years ago. We both came top in our various departments.

I have been in the educational sector for close to 2 decades, so I agree with you.

All through my years in the educational field, I have come to understand something. I want all the parents reading this to pls apply this simple advice/suggestion.

No child is born dull. If you can dedicate 30min to 1 hour of your time for your kids everyday , believe you me, you will be shocked by their improvement.
Get the school's scheme of work from the teacher and teach your child ahead of the class. Don't say he/she is too small to learn something.

The mind of a child is big enough to accommodate anything he is being taught.

Don't mind him, so so childish. Whose child wouldn't top the class, if it is not today, it could be tomorrow. You are really on point my friend, that op is really really childish and he should watch it because if he continues like this, he never can tell the kind of neighbour/friends surrounding him and he might incur their anger with this flaunting of his child topping the class. Appreciate your child in your own way and in the four walls of your house and continue praying for him and not to brag about him because no one knows tomorrow. God bless your child.

I don't think intelligence is the same as gaining knowledge.

Intelligence comes from gaining knowledge. When you gain knowledge to a certain level, it begins to show in the way you approach issues, which we all know as intelligence.

No intelligence is hereditary. You don't have to be educated to be intelligent. There many out there who aren't educated but intelligent. Being a genius is not the same thing as being good in school. The people who you describe as intelligent will be lost when out of their comfort zones.
