Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 8:26pm On May 04, 2017
@ancientdeb123: The deadline of 5th may 2017 given by PTAD to the Nitel Pension reps is for submission of all relevant information on Nitel staff such as conditions of service, nitel in house pension policies, number of pensioners including pre 2006 and after 2006. This will enable Ptad to make estimates and projections prior to the start of the verification and to guide their preparations for the verification proper. The committee is working hard to give this information to Ptad by tomorrow 5th. I believe once Ptad receives this, a date for actual verification will be announced in this month of May.

Please, what will be the fate of the deceased staffs? Will their families be considered for payment of the arreas? I'm asking since you said the current modality of payment is tailored towards monthly pension payment.

Finally3x!nitel representatives were told lastweek to write a proposal for verification which has been done and were told to comeback last week Friday.I'm happy to tell u. Letter of approval for payment was collected on Friday by alita aliyu.the sum of 299 billion has been earmarked for payment of pension to all "parastatals".the core civil servant is not included in the money and the good news is that it is not connected with 2017 budget, also a meeting will hold in abuja tomorrow on date of verification.

you are doing a great job I must say.. information is power and you are so much a blessing to us here.. is the 29 billion covering all parastatals as you opined...when is the verification going to commence proper...can i know the parastatals involved here apart from Nitel?..
thanks in advance for the prompt response..

If your informant is an insider, he/she should be able to provide information about your hope for a deceased staff. Or don't you think so ?

Can sum1 please fill me in? Am lost here and i hope its not too late. I lost my dad last year and he told us he is expecting pension from Nitel. Though he was paid part of his entitlements when he was disengaged from active service.

My question can i still represent him (His next of kin)?
What do i need and how do i go about it. Am presently in Ibadan and would like to go to Abuja to find out details.

Am happy i stumbled on this thread.

If your father died last year then he must be entitled to pensions upto his date of death. Yes, the next of kin can represent him.
I read on this thread about people in your shoes being given some forms to fiil for further processing. Get hold of all official documents relating to your dad and go to Abuja OR await instructions in the expected verification guidelines. But i would chose the second option.
My opinion though.

@ancientdeb23: What i found out is that whatever you were entitled to as pension as at time of disengagement in 2006 or if a pensioner before 2006, the amount you were collecting or expecting to collect as at 2006 is what you will get now. E.g if at disengagement in 2006 you are expected to get 50K pension monthly, then it is what you will get starting after this new verification. If you were also a pensioner before 2006 and you were collecting 50k, it is the same you will collect now. I was told there is no increment.
I heard also that deceased staff next of kins are entitled to pension until the time of death . What is being worked out is the modalities because the next of kin is not entitled to monthly pension as per regulations, but a lump sum of all outstanding pension. We will have to wait and see how this will be done.

I felt like crying seeing someone reply me about my dad's pension. I just doesn't have the time to visit him until is death. I felt really pained about his death which was due to carelessness of the people around him. Anyways am really happy that someone replied me. Please can i have your number so that i can be updated on the developments. My mom is presently with me in Ibadan and will soon leave for Abuja to do all necessary things about her later husband's pension.

Thanks again.

You are welcome. Well, replying you is no big deal because your dad was a colleague whether we knew each other or not and those of us alive are so by the special grace of God. Naturally, we normally feel pained whenever a colleague's death is announced. May God preserve our lives to His glory in Jesus name.
What was your dad's names and when was he disengaged from service ?

What other question to ask than the million-dollar time for verification or screening ?

PTAD is about to place Nitel pensioners on monthly pension immediately after a yet to be fixed verification exercise. By entitlements do you mean pay off arrears?

I think what he meant is the accumulated arrears of pensions from 2011 or thereabout. Disengaged staff, for instance, was given an initial payoff of 5yrs. Since full retirement rights have been restored, the arrears from the expiry of the 5yrs uptodate is what he probably meant by entitlements. My opinion though.

The accumulated arrears is the bone of contention, is PTAD responsible for that too? PTAD scheme I want to believe will only be responsible for monthly payments. Then who is paying the 229 billion naira Anybody with credible info on that, please share

I don't claim this to be credible but a colleague called yesterday to tell me that a certain % of arrears for each staff will be paid along with the monthly pensions by Pension managers until all is paid rather than pay in bulk.
My thoughts - but since the total is available, i see no logical reason to pay it instalments except want to commercialise it for interests.
