Some part of your analysis makes sense, however, one is tempted to ask - "what happened to the first come first serve" clause?

One would have thought that those who met the benchmark required to progress to stage 2, would have received their invites to do so.

If Mr. A meets the benchmark (let's say 80/100 4 d BM) to proceed to d nxt stage and he's not progressed to continue his 2nd stage assessment, but gets served the love letter because Mr. B's 1st stage assessment was relatively better, then the "first come first serve" clause would have become invalid.

The only logically acceptable explanation why Mr. A got served d love letter, should be because he didn't meet d benchmark, otherwise, they might have to put up an explanation on what they meant by "first come first serve "

Abi na first come first collect ur love letter grin

Still on this case scenario, don't you think if A had known it would be a comparative assessment against all d applicants and not an assessment to beat d benchmark , he could have taken his time to gather information -including tips from those who went ahead- to stay ahead of the competition?

Just my thoughts sha grin

Her analysis makes complete sense to me. It is one of the two scenarios I believe we may be dealing with, of which the other is still the fixed benchmark hypothesis.

Variable benchmark

First come, first served means the applications will be reviewed on that basis. Let's say Mr. A applies for the program 5 days before Ms. B but completes his assessment 10 days later, whereas Ms. B completes hers within the first 3 days, then Ms. B's application will be reviewed first. Her candidacy would be considered before Mr. A's.

In addition to what deepwater already explained, keep in mind that these positions have limited slots. If Mr. A and Ms. B have identical aggregates for, say, trainee production engr, and they happen to be the last candidates in the review process, with both their scores beating the last best score on the trainee production engr. list, then Ms. B would be considered and Mr. A regretted (together with Dr. "last best score" [PhD], maybe) because Ms. B completed her assessments first; despite the fact that Mr. A applied first. First come, first served.

As for taking time to gather info, Shell expects all applicants to take the process seriously enough to do their due diligence on how to stand out in the assessments. Everyone is supposed to "take their time to gather information". They also do not expect other candidates to be silly enough to let out their competitive advantage, but they know it would happen. And it did happen. It is still happening. Has that boosted anyone's chances? Maybe. Significantly? No.

The assessment is designed to test one's intellect and soft skills. No one can ace it by cramming someone else's replies. It's one thing to know what you may be asked in the video interview. It's another thing to comport yourself and give a coherent, intelligent reply in 2.59 minutes, besides the other things they look out for in a video interview. Some tell flowery tales that are off-point or barely scratches the point, etc. There are just certain things that can't be faked.

My point is, soliciting info from others who have completed their tests so as to "stay ahead" has been done and is still being done by people here. It hasn't been proven to be a guarantee for anyone. And Shell will only send invites for the next stage when they are done regretting all who didn't meet up. Till then, nothing is certain. It's all hopes and prayers. The people one is asking tips from may still be regretted. What does that say for those prized tips?

If there was a fixed benchmark and those who didn't meet up were regretted based on that, then the love mails should have been coming in way sooner than some durations we have witnessed here, and the duration should have been + or - 2 days for everyone regretted, counting from the day the assessments were completed. This is the argument against the fixed benchmark hypothesis.

Fixed benchmark

Despite the foregoing, it could still be a fixed benchmark and volume of applications may be the variable with respect to love letter duration. Maybe the volume of applications has been growing exponentially with each passing day, hence they are taking more time to process applications and send the mails. So we see 4 days, then 7 days, then 10 days... Etc.

But then some get theirs after 7 days of completing the assessments the same day that some got theirs after 11 days of the same. So, maybe, a particular review group is faster or slower than some other review groups, hence some candidates get those regret mails sooner than others, or later.

These are all conjectures mehn, more subjective than objective. And I doubt the staffs viewing this thread occasionally would provide any objective insight. So let those still standing just keep hoping and praying.

While we all believe in God here and all that, that doesnt mean we shouldnt prepare, God rewards hardwork with success, so stop saying its not about performance, be prepared, work hard and God will bless you..

What if I say God blesses you by giving you the performance level to land the Job, its like asking God to drop money from heaven, which wont happen. What will happen is that there will be a medium (a person, or something).

So if you must pray, pray to God to give you the grace to prepare well and teach you the right things to say and do, then you will see the goodness.

When you work hard, and you are kind, even if you don't believe in God, awesome things will happen to you, its nature.

your kindness opens doors of opportunities and insight, your hardwork makes you prepared for those opportunities.

surely you would prepare ooo, after all we are told to study to show ourselves approved, but still never forget not to LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING...God makes things happy in his own time, but as we wait,we should occupy till he intervene.(and that occupying implies studying and getting ready)
You might have made first class o,but I bet you,so many studied much more than you did but still dint make a first class.

I'm surprised at the message I received from Shell having completed the entire stage 1 assessments. How can this happen?

"The deadline has now passed for Stage 1 of your Shell application and, since we haven’t yet received your completed assessments, you have now been withdrawn from the process."

Upon seeing that mail I then decided to try the on demand test the second time and here is what I found as attached

After the online interview were you able to upload the recordings successfully? Did you receive an acknowledgement mail from them? It is obvious they did not receive the interview recordings.

Let's just accept that he was shifted to the "love letter zone" by another top performer who applied for the same role.

exactly, There is something many don't understand. It's not about profile now. I am not sure they have started reviewing profiles self. If you got a great profile and you can't be referred by your university then you'd be competing with about other ten thousands applicants. If your performance falls below the percentile then you'd be dropped.
