Anyone who questions the status quo gets a label; are you this intellectually challenged or you just don't know how to think on your own?

Nigeria's power problems will never be solved by one man but unfortunately the present persons in government used that as a campaign promise and party manifesto . So do yourself a big favour and get knowledge when and if you can.

Shalom.

LOL so GEJ never use it to campaign in 2011? We are enjoy nothing less tham 18-20hours of power under this Govt and that cannot be said of under GEJ

You need help man...your party from that picture you posted is APC...they came into power riding on the incompetence of the previous government and they don't want their grossly humiliating incompetence to be questioned.

Are you okay at all?

WHo ask you not to question them? But questions with sense and not with hatred, What has been achieved under Fahsola as power minister under 2yrs surpass that of over 16yrs of PDP...

Keep confirming ur ignorance for all to see. You think "evacuation of power" into the national electricity grid covers 20% of the transmission infrastructure upgrade required to effectively get them across to consumers? Your are obviously ignorant of what an electricity grid is and how one works. Keep spewing vile words. Even from the time of Jonathan our generating capacity exceeded our transmission capacity.
For you to claim Fashola is delivering as expected then that translates to him hitting the ground running by prioritizing transmission projects over generating projects. What about estimated billing on the side of the customers? For your info, I am no Jonathan or Buhari apologist talk less of being a blind one.
I am only a patriotic Nigerian who understands the working of electrical power systems in so much details to allow misinformed people like you mislead the teeming public.
[/s]

Abeg keep quiet with your redundant and layman ignorance and diversion.

Your question was what the minister is doing about the transmission grid and I supplied that information to to show you how clueless and ignorant you are about your own country, how void you are about current affairs and even the information you requested, but as usual with you empty and shallow internet loudmouths, you lashed on to another silly rant, but common sense and logic which you obviously don't have dictates that if you are going to quote percentage or any definite assertions about the power grid and what's needed to evacuate every generated MW, you should lay bare before us credible data per the average % evacuated daily, the shortfall % and the exact amount of % and upgrade needed in every corner of the country for optimal performance across the board and while you are at it, also show us the audit you conducted that necessitated your ignorance and baseless assertions.

You can not tell us that the minister is clueless about the transmission issues in Nigeria because it's on record that they have identified the issues plaguing the system and they've drawn up solutions, they've identified areas to addressed and on top of that, they've secured $5.2 billion from the world bank to address the power situation in the country.

If you really are interested or patriotic as you asserted, why not just do a little research instead of asking lame questions on the internet.

You see, I know jokers like you, you get on the internet to spew rubbish while trying to sound informed when in fact all you have is the same layman and ignorant rubbish that you can not back up with any credible official data, audit report or mitigating solutions.

Also, the fact that you are or not other people's apologist doesn't mean you are entitled to rubbish and misinformation on the internet.

Again, go back to your original request and my response, then show us your own credible data and transmission audit that says the government's transmission effort is useless, until you are able to do that, you are just another ignorant joker spewing rubbish without facts.

About estimated billing on the side of the costumers, this again amplified your ignorant and weak consumption of news and current affairs in your own country.

It is on record that the minister is on the side of the customers when it comes to billing and his position was wildly publicized in recent months.

THE Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, yesterday, threw his weight behind popular resistance to estimated electricity bills not conforming to services delivered by the Electricity Distribution Companies, DISCOs.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/02/electricity-fashola-backs-resistance-estimated-billings/

Also, the government is distributing millions of meters to consumers.

Now, that after trashing your initial nonsense, you gyrated from transmission and I'm sure after trashing that also with facts, it's going to be another rubbish and irrelevant nonsense from you so I'm ready because I know your type, you fraudulently move from one position to the next after getting trounced.

Go for it, I'm here and ready for you.

Fashola would deliver on power if supported.

There are more than these:

“The Afam 5 plant is currently being rehabilitated in collaboration with General Electric to restore 240 megawatts to the facility.

“All the turbine and equipment needed for the project are already in the country while the only challenge we are facing is the access road, logistic and few other things that we came to assess.

We think that we will add 240 megawatts and another 100 megawatts before December with addition of 276 megawatts in 2018 from Afam power plant alone,” he said.

The positives are, if we had this kind of momentum in the past 10-15 years or more, power outages would have been a very rare occurrence in Nigeria.
thanks for this educative insight.thank u very much.

@ bjims hiya. As per my comments, no mind me jare.

Well, real time data for specific sites is important in sizing renewable energy systems.

For example, a PV+inverter+battery system. You would want to size (panel, battery, cable etc.) based on cost for a number of days (assuming no sunshine) and still meet demand. Furthermore, you would want the converter to be able to operate at maximum power point to harvest available power during sunshine hours/days. Historical data would provide you the opportunity to develop simple equations (using simple/multiple regression or other machine learning techniques) that govern certain weather conditions at certain time of the year while data specs of PV panel helps you model its behaviour under varying weather conditions (temperature, irradiance, wind speed, wind direction, shading etc.). With the disruption caused by technology, such systems are being equipped with smartness to be able to almost accurately predict based on their historical data and current weather conditions, the optimal operating point (duty cycle of the converter) for maximum power.

I'm humbled and highly impressed by what you do. Software that could help in machine learning - Python, Matlab (not open source and heavy), R etc.

Weather data could be gotten from IITA (Ibadan) and Nimet. I don't know the procedure though.

C/C++ language could be used in hardware programming to designing a local buck-boost converter. This will involve some skill in circuit design. You can always pick that up from Youtube.

I hope this helps a little.

Cheers.

It helps a lot. Would definitely get in touch with you soon. Thanks a lot

Well, even though we are where we should have been 20years ago, at least we are crawling. Nice one!
Hahaha! 20 years? Look around you. We
are still stuck in the dark ages. You think i'm lying? Ask yourself this; imagine if we weren't importing, how would we survive? If not for the whites from whom we import food, clothes, drugs, vehicles, machines, building materials etc, would we survive? Famine, malaria, sickle cell, small pox, cholera, lassa fever, meningitis & other disasters would have nearly wiped us off in this country if not for the whites. We have made little above zero as far true progress is concerned. Ordinary efficient railway system that some western countries perfected since the 1800s, we don't have. What about power? We all know that 1 is already dead on arrival (DOA) despite the billions of $$$ pumped into it. Security? Kaput! Iron & steel that some civilizations perfected long before the birth of Jesus Christ? Ours is moribund. Look @ other countries, Japan suffered heavy losses in ww2 with cities like Hiroshima & Nagasaki reduced to rubble in 1945. They had to start from scratch & yet today Japan was among the 1 of the nations that took part at the just concluded G20 summit in hamburg, Germany. We are in retrogression & you think we are succeeding? Let us continue deceiving ourselves in this country. Were we not here when Ghana celebrated 1 year of uninterrupted power supply? I heard sometime ago they are working on having functional refineries. Let us keep applauding inefficiency & backwardness while deceiving ourselves that we are the 'giants of Africa'. One day, it would shock you that we would go & beg Ghana for loans.

When? How? That's the billion dollar question. When we've not started at all. Nothing works well in this country. We have kleptomanic clowns with no iota of sincerity & dedication at the helm of affairs & we the followers are not better by much. All it takes to convince someone to vote for you is distribute bags of rice & throw a few wads of naira none or control hoodlums (& sometimes security forces) to rig elections. No one takes a genuine stab at trying to solve 1 of our problems from the roots. We all prefer cosmetic, superficial fixes that would create an illusion that the leader is 'working'. Our institutions are a farce. Individuals are deified above the rule of law. The law itself is skewed, extremely flawed & creates loopholes for criminals to flourish eg the immunity clause. The same promises made to the Nigerian people during election campaigns in 1999 are the same that would be repeated come 2019; good roads, uninterrupted power supply, pipe borne water, fight corruption, create jobs, diversify the economy. Meanwhile day by day, it gets worse. Therefore, it is highly likely to say that we might never get there.

Reading and comprehension should be your primary objective at the moment.
You are the one who doesn't understand how power systems work. After generation the power gets transmitted before it reaches the final consumer. Stop posting inaccurate and irrelevant articles.
How many transmission project has Fashola started or completed, seeing that our transmission capacity is lower than generating capacity.
Instead of prioritizing transmission projects over generating unit projects fashola is too busy trying to give Nigerians a higher figure.
he thinks he can confuse all Nigerians with empty figures. The same mistake he made in Lagos is what he is replicating at the centre now.
