A very great quote from the great Ford, whose unparalleled vision is still positively impacting the world in no little ways.

All that man needs to succeed is within him. He barely needs an external support. If he's willing to deploy all the energies, faculties and potentials he's imbued with by Providence, he's so sure of success. Man can become just WHATEVER he so chooses.

The world gives audience to the man who's willing to pay the needed price to succeed.

If a man is determined internally to succeed, there's very little, if any, external help can do. He has to choose to succeed and pay the price for it.

hmm, true. Like a quote I saw on Purposeful Living Blog, Success is in you and not in your circumstances or environment.. It is not like some are luckier than others or more blessed or at an advantage, what makes them stand out or 'extraordinary' is their ability to make use of such 'unpleasant' situations to propel themselves!

I want to ask, in what ways/terms can one pay for 'that' price to succeed? Like. . . . .denying oneself of pleasure and comfort till later in the future?

Very good question.

Nothing can take the place of purposeful ACTION. No amount of planning and talking will do the job; you've got to ACT. Action changes things.

After reading dozens of books on entrepreneurship and risk taking, I just had to go out and do the job because I knew talking wasn't enough.

One of the ways I push myself to act whenever I don't seem to find that edge is by visualising the profits I'll get from that action, the negative consequences of indolence and excuses. The future is so important we have to ACT. Till we act, nothing changes.

Another thing I find helpful in this area of ACTING, is the Word of God. It helps me a lot. After spending hours studying it deeply, I get this sort of ENERGY and ZEAL to work and get things done. I just marvel at myself, it's like it isn't 'me' working...Doing things that'd never in a billion years cross my mind.. I used to be very indolent and passive and inactive, even sleeping till 2pm in the day!... But now, something like that disgusts me, lol. I keep everywhere spick and span. I do things on time.. I am even looking for more ways to exhaust all of the energy I have in me!

Really, the Bible is a very powerful tool for change..positive one

@Eaugusta ... I understand your plight, I'd been there myself. Trying to motivate yourself to act but it is nothing hard really. What is the state of your mind? What is in it? What do you feed it? What do you think about?
What happens on the outside is a reflection of what we ponder on...
You can't keep wishing for something when you are always dwelling on the fact that it isn't working. Stop over-stressing yourself about the change that isn't forth-coming instead focus on what happens in you. When you think more on that change, it will happen. It just will.
First seek, seek earnestly for that change...(and you will surely find!) smiley Then believe. Believe it will happen, first in your mind and then speak it. Even if you don't feel it, just say it over and over.. Get it out.
''We often use the power of words to our own detriment''...

Everything just comes back to the mind and thoughts.. The 'acting' is not really the problem. Don't magnify the things you don't want or hate.. Just think, think, think on the good. See that change.. For example, if you say to yourself and believe that your thoughts(inside) are articulate and organized, you know you might not have any problem with voicing out your opinions or contributing to a discussion(outside)? So see, from the inside, you have conquered the fear of public speaking(an ACT).. cos you believe that what you say makes sense!

I hope you find this helpful. smiley

Have a nice day.

You already knw the answer.
The only problem most people, including me, have is knowing HOW to live with the price.
Can you endure seeing your friends party all night without feeling left out? Or going to bed with empty stomach for close to two weeks?
Can you spend 5weeks of your life living in a car? Or trade your first samples on the streets (or mkt) without feeling shy and inferior? Do you think you can leave your degree certificate and work in an environment surrounded by O' level holders without feeling imakwa ndi anyi bu? Or can you put your dreams on hold while you spend close to 5years serving someone?
.
Sometimes it's simply about taking action.
.
However, paying the price for success is different for everyone. What price i paid to succeed (assuming i came from an average backgroun) might be utterly different from what a guy from a kingmaker family will pay to succeed.
.
Just take actions and calculated risks. That's all that really matters now.
.
Hope this explanation wasn't messy?

No, it wasn't...

Thanks, tz enlightening...
It... It feels like the success should have shown/come now, lol. Like almost immediately, if only change was an 'overnight' thing...

But there are lessons meant to be learnt on the journey.. Lessons that are vital to reaching and maintaining the position at the top..

I wish change is an overnight thing. Now learning to accept the lessons accompanying success has helped me a lot.

I was like you a year ago and wanted to achieve same feat but it eluded me. However, it propelled me into deep thought about what the future holds and I realized that the race is not for the swift neither is the battle for the strong. All you owe life is do your best in every circumstance and eliminate every chance of doubt in yourself and in the plans Providence has for you in the future.

I think, success in life starts from your mind. If you can program your mind, unlearn all you know and re-learn, with a corresponding action, then you're on your way. I learnt something recently, to succeed, find something you're good at and become the best at it. But of course it takes lot of hardwork and consistency

Let me post one inspiring article I cane across tooo!!

It's Up to Us What We Choose

An old Chief and his grandson were sitting near lake. There grandfather was trying to teach his grandson life lessons.

So he told young boy, "A fight is going on inside me. A terrible fight between two wolves."

Chief continued, "One wolf is Evil, full of anger, sorrow, greed, pity and self pride. The other wolf is Good, full of joy, peace, love, kindness and faith."

"Son, this great fight is going on inside of you and every person on this earth."

Now chief got silent for moment. Suddenly grandchild asked him, "WHO WON THE FIGHT?"

The old man smiled and said, "THE ONE YOU FEED."

Moral:
We all go through situations were we have to chose between right and wrong. It's up to us what we choose.

The customer is not always right but you have to be considerate in dealing with your customers.
When your customer is angry, stay calm and try not to vent at the same time. The words you say in such situations will either calm your customer or make them feel angry the more.
