TWIST OF FATE: #23

‘So what can we offer you, Naomi? This is the first time you are truly visiting after you left years ago.' Afolake turned to her with a solemn smile.
Naomi's heart was heavy as she watched mother and son leave the house. She had once been in that position with an infant child, despite the fact that she had done nothing wrong to deserve the crude treatment from the same woman. She felt Patricia's grief and sorrow as if it was her own.
‘I'm okay for now.' Her smile was wooden and fake.
‘Come with me, Ife. Let me show you my old room when I was growing up.' Olayemi's boyish grin cut through her gloom like sunshine as he tugged at her hand and pulled her to her feet.
‘Please, Dad, show her the room and bring her back safely. I'm too old to have a little brother or sister.' Joseph stated solemnly without looking up from the phone he was pressing.
Naomi's jaw dropped in shock as she stared at her son while Olayemi roared with laughter. Afolake's eyes widened in surprise before she was shaking with mirth too.
‘You are an idiot, Joseph. Let's go before he made you change your mind.' Olayemi was still laughing when they left the room but Joseph knew his mother would plan a come-back for him. He would be waiting. He grinned at his Grandma.
‘Gran, are you coming for Andrew's wedding? It's in two weeks time.' He asked casually.
‘I won't miss it for the world. He is such a good boy. That reminds me. You were telling me about fundraising for the acres of land you wanted to purchase for your farming. Can I still come in somewhere?' Afolake gave him her complete attention.
‘Well, I won't mind if you can invest personally in it. I will talk to my lawyer to get in touch with you and draw up a contract. You go through it and let me have your opinion.' He glanced at her.
‘That is fine. My husband would have been very proud of you, son.' She nodded her approval.
‘Opemi, I told you I want to invest too. Is it because I am not as rich as Grandma?' Titi asked angrily.
‘Damn it, Titi. Go and invest your money elsewhere. I can give you my broker's number. This is not a family business. It belongs to me and Andrew. Gran is an experienced businesswoman whose experience I need right now. You are not.' He glared at her.
‘So? I trust you. I want to do business with you. Is something wrong with that?' Titilola glared back.
‘Fine. Go and talk to our lawyer.' Joseph stood up and stalked out of the room.
‘I am talking to you. You had better answer me now before I do something you won't believe.' Titilola followed him with a stubborn jut of her lips.
Afolake grinned with amusement as she reached for her phone and dialed her lawyer's number.
***************
‘I will let him know you checked on him when he gets back, Becky. I appreciate your time.' Naomi was saying as she walked the young woman to the door.
‘I am only doing my job. I am still not happy with the fact that he has resumed fully at work. He still has lots of healing to do.' She grumbled as she put on her flat sole shoes.
‘I know you are doing your job. Thank you all the same for the dedication.' Naomi tucked her tongue in her cheek.
The door opened as she reached for the doorknob. Joseph walked in with a fair beautiful woman. Her arm was around his waist and they were both laughing. Naomi watched as Rebecca's expression turned cold and unfriendly.
‘Good evening, Mr. Coker. I can see you are much better now.' She nodded to the lady politely before turning to Joseph.
‘Hmmm, yes I am. How are you, Becky?' He asked with a smile.
‘I am very well, thank you. I advised you to wait till next week before you resume fully at work but since it seems you are very much okay, my duty is fully done here.' Her gaze drifted over him coolly before she reached for the doorknob again.
‘Thank you. I will drop you off.' Joseph pushed his briefcase to Titilola and turned to follow her out of the sitting room.
‘Where are you going, darling? We just came in. The Doctor is already leaving anyway.' Titilola purred in a loud voice as she clung to Joseph's arms. Her beautiful pouty lips belied her laughing twinkling eyes.
‘Goodnight ma.' Becky marched out of the house without a second glance.
‘Good night dear.' Naomi choked back the laughter bubbling in her and answered with a straight face.
‘I will kill you, Titi. I swear.' Joseph glared at her before he dashed out after her.
‘Darling, please can I come along?' Titilola asked in a loud petulant voice which had Joseph hissing and swearing loudly.
The door closed with a resounding thud.
‘You are a bad child, Titi. What the hell are you doing that for?' Naomi chided her laughingly.
‘That is his Becky right?' Titi turned to confirm.
‘You know she is the one before you start your super acting skills.' Naomi glared at her. The young girl collapsed into a helpless giggle until she had no choice than to join her.
‘It is so obvious. She needs someone to make her come to her senses. She knew he is alright and keeps coming here under the pretense of caring for him. The green monster is written all over her face. I could almost hear her teeth grinding together.' Titilola collapsed into another peal of laughter.
‘You are quite right, naughty child that you are.' Naomi wiped at the tears coursing down her face.
‘How was your day, mama mi?' Titilola asked after a while.
‘It was busy. My orders came in today and I have a hell of a time clearing it from the port. This country is so messed up.' Naomi complained good-naturedly.
They were still gisting when Joseph barged in, frustrated and furious.
‘I lost her. She jumped into a taxi and ran away. I am sure she is not coming back here. The car key was with you. What the hell was that Broadway acts for?' He glared down at her.
‘What act are you talking about, Opemi? ‘Titilola batted her eyelids innocently.
‘You know what I am talking about. I can strangle you, Titi. I swear.' He hit his knuckled into his palm to keep from hitting her. She stopped laughing and gave him a steady look.
‘Do you really want her or you wanted what you used to have? You have not made any attempt to seek her out unless she comes here. If you truly want her, what is the like of Elizabeth and Barbara still doing in your life?' She asked quietly. Joseph stared at her in shock as he felt the anger draining out of him. ‘What makes you different from her husband, Opemi?' She held his gaze directly.
‘Good questions, Titi.' Naomi reached over and placed a kiss on her forehead, on both cheeks and her lips. ‘I love you, dear.' She smiled at the young girl.
‘I love you too, mama mi.' Tears filled Titilola's eyes but she was smiling.
‘I know her house address when you are ready to do the needful.' Naomi told him with a casual glance as she headed to the kitchen.
‘Get out of my sight, Titi.' Joseph hissed at her as he stormed to his room and slammed the door closed.
Titilola went to join Naomi in the kitchen.
‘How is work? Are you enjoying working in your father's company?' She asked quietly.
‘I don't think so. I think I prefer to assist with your store expansion. I feel lost in the Coker Empire. No matter what I do, they will always see as Daddy's spoilt little girl. My hard work will never be appreciated. Please let me come and work with you. I promise I won't be a pain in your butt.' She pleaded solemnly.
‘Titi, you know I have no issue with you working with me. In fact, I will appreciate it a lot. We will draw up something formal between us. In the meantime, discuss it with your father and your mother when next you visit her.' Naomi glanced at her.
‘Must I speak to my mother before you will allow me to work for you?' She asked skeptically. Naomi only raised an eyebrow at the question. ‘Okay, Mama mi. I will do so if you insist.' She answered her own question with a rueful smile.
‘How is your therapy session coming along?' Naomi asked after a moment.
‘It is okay. The guy is nice and knows his job, I think. I still find nothing attractive about the opposite sex though.' She shrugged her shoulder in indifference.
‘It is a gradual process. You will be okay.' Naomi drew her into her embrace and hugged her tightly.
‘Thank you.' Her voice was husky with tears.
***************
‘Mummy, someone is at the door.' Michael was shouting at the top of his voice as he ran towards the door.
‘Peep through the keyhole to see who is at the door before opening the door.' Rebecca's voice ended in a groan of frustration as he had turned the key and yanked the door open.
‘Hello.' Joseph grinned at the little boy standing in the doorway, eyeing him with open curiosity.
‘Hi. Are you Aunty Lizzy's friend?' He asked curiously as he looked up at him.
‘Well, you can say that. I'm Joseph Coker. May I meet you?' He crouched down to his level.
‘My name is Michael. I'm 4 years old. How old are you?' He gave him a gaped teeth smile.
‘Michael, that is rude. You don't ask an adult how old is he or her. Good morning, young man.' Ruth gave him a polite smile as she approached them.
‘Good morning ma.' He rose to his full length and curtseyed to the elderly woman.
‘His name is Joseph Coker and he is Aunt Lizzy's friend.' Michael announced with a grin. Ruth looked closer with her fading eyesight and a slow smile spread on her face.
‘You look good, Joseph. How have you been?' Ruth clasped him in a maternal hug.
‘I'm fine. How are you ma'am?' He smiled at her.
‘Come in.' she drew him in and closed the door. ‘Rebecca, guess who is here?' She announced as she led them to the sitting room.
‘I know.' Rebecca's voice was cold and hostile as she came to stand on the edge of the room. ‘Good morning Mr. Coker. To whom do we owe the honor of this visit?' She flashed him a fake smile as she crossed her arms over her chest.
‘He is Aunt Lizzy's friend.' Michael announced again with a smile.
‘How did you reach that conclusion, dear?' Rebecca gave her son a curious look.
‘Well, he said so when I asked. Plus it is her friends that usually visit. You don't have any friend.' He stated with absolute confidence.
‘You are very smart, Michael. I like you.' Joseph nodded solemnly to him.
‘You have not answered my question, Mr. Coker.' She snapped angrily.
‘Can we take this somewhere private?' He snapped back as he felt his anger rising.
‘Michael, come with me. We need to go and tidy up my room.' Ruth held Michael's hand firmly as she left the room. The little boy looked from Joseph to Rebecca with a confused look.
‘Why are they fighting, Gran? I thought he is Aunt Lizzy's friend.' They could hear Michael asked with obvious confusion.
‘What do you know, sweet child? Adult business is a complicated one. You will know the meaning one day.' Ruth chuckled softly before closing the door.

TWIST OF FATE: #23

‘Tell me exactly why you are angry, Becky.' Joseph stared at her with a puzzled look.
‘I'm not angry.' She denied hotly, rapidly flipping through her brain for a reason. Damn, what did I get myself into? She thought in embarrassment.
‘You could have fooled me. You swear at me before you jumped into that cab yesterday. You jumped into an unknown cab just because you wanted to get away from me. I apologized for not staying home as advised but I know my body. I am perfectly okay except for the occasional twitches I felt from the healing wound. I am still taking my medications, the ones you prescribed. So please tell me where I went wrong.' He gestured with his hands.
‘I'm glad you are fine. It is okay then.' She nodded with a polite smile, hoping he would leave.
‘So why are you angry? Titilola is my sister from my father's side.' He explained quietly.
‘Your love life is none of my business.' She flared instantly and bit her lips afterward.
‘Really? Are you sure?' He was smiling as he covered the distance between them but she stepped back uncertainly.
‘Certainly. I am a married woman. Your love life and relationship doesn't concern me.' She used her strongest weapon and it effectively stopped him in his track but not for long.
‘Well, a married woman has no business getting jealousy because she saw her patient with a beautiful woman she thought she was dating and leaving in a huff.' He retorted acidly, raising an eyebrow at her. She raised her chin in pride.
‘Well, you may be right but I am not jealous. If that is settled, you may leave now please. I have to prepare for work.' She pointed to the door.
‘When do you get off duty?' He asked casually.
‘Tomorrow morning at 7 am. Why are you asking?' She asked curiously.
‘Tomorrow is Sunday. I will pick you up at 7 am. By the way, your son is such a cute little one.' He grinned at her.
‘Thank you. That is not necessary. I may not be ready to leave by then. Don't bother yourself.' She tried to dissuade him but it was an exercise in futility because he didn't even answer her. He turned towards the door.
‘Where is your husband, Becky?' The question came out of the blues, throwing her off-guard.
‘I don't know. I think the last time I heard he was somewhere in the U.S.A.' She mumbled in a defeated voice. He realized she was feeling embarrassed and ashamed.
‘I will see you tomorrow morning. Extend my regards to your mum and Michael.' He smiled but he was seething inwardly. Bastard! I will find you and make you pay for all you have done to her, he promised himself. He walked out of her home and closed the door with a gentle click behind him.
Rebecca dropped on the closest seat as she released her breath slowly and realized her legs were shaking. Damn you, Joe, you are the only one that gets my emotions moving up and down like a yo-yo, she swore inwardly but she was smiling.

***************

‘I'm worried about Kayode. He has locked himself in the room for the past few days and refused to come out.' Patricia turned worried gaze to Salmon. She had called him immediately they left the family meeting at the Coker's house and updated him. He sent a driver to pick them up the following morning and took them to the new rented duplex at Tanke. He had been a regular visitor since then but he didn't want to spend the night until his divorce was final with Ifeoma.
‘Kayode is a spoilt brat. I've tried to talk to him but he has been very rude and insolent. You did a bad job of raising him.' Salmon tried to soften his voice but his feelings came through, loud and clear. He had craved a male child all his life, albeit secretly. It was a rude shock to realize the one thing he wanted so much was a complete disappointment.
‘I know. I'm sorry about that but you need to give him time to adjust, considering the circumstances on the ground. He is still reeling from the shock of it all.' She protested weakly.
‘He is a man, Pat. Life happens all the time, we all need to deal with it the best way we can.' He paused. ‘What do you want to do about him?' He asked after a moment.
‘I've called Aliyah and begged her to come and talk to him if you don't mind.' She gave him a pleading sideways look. He shrugged with indifference.
‘I have no issue with that. So what do you plan to do with your life? Stay at home and continue to babysit your son?' He raised an eyebrow at her, half mocking.
‘It is not funny, Salmon. I will think of something. I've never worked all my life.' She picked at a thread in her dress.
‘Well, if you are contented with whatever I have to offer you and you won't start comparing me with the Almighty Coker, I will try my best to satisfy you.' He watched her bent head.
‘Don't be silly.' She sent him a reproving look beneath her eye-lashes.
‘It is the truth. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. It is refreshing to have a woman who is readily available at all time.' He teased as he bent over her. He captured her mouth as she opened it to give him a sharp retort and rubbed his hands all over her breasts through the cotton material of her gown. Her nipples stiffened instantly and she moaned into his mouth.
He pushed her gently unto her back as he deepened the kiss and wedged himself between her thighs.
‘Salmon, we are in the sitting room. Anyone could come in.' she panted out when she broke the kiss and tried to push him off.
‘I don't care. This is my house. Anyone coming in should knock if they don't want to witness what they are not supposed to.' He spared her a glance as he unbuckled his belt and pulled down his jeans along with his boxers. His arousal sprang free with its glistening head.
‘Ah…i think you should use protection or something?' She swallowed nervously as she tried to shift away but he was between her thighs and had raised her legs to his shoulders.
‘Can you get pregnant?' He asked absently as he tugged her pants to a side and slipped a finger in. An involuntary moan escaped her mouth as her hips jerked when he explored her moist depth gently. He smiled to himself as he watched her writhed and jerked with pleasure.
‘Oh, my' Her breath came faster. He held her legs apart and guided his manhood in, slowly. Her vagina walls tightened involuntarily around him and he groaned out loud as he increased the tempo until they both screamed with the climax.
***************

‘Go away. I don't want to talk to anybody.' Kayode shouted coldly when the knocking on his bedroom door went on incessantly.
‘I need to talk to you, Kay. It is important.' Aliyah responded coldly as she stared at the doorway. How did I imagine myself being in love with this coward? She thought annoyingly.
‘What do you want? I thought you don't want to marry me.' His voice was muffled.
‘I still don't want to marry you. Thank God I rejected your offer because I can't imagine being married to a coward who stayed in his bedroom just because life hit him.' She stated in a cold hard voice. She was about to leave his bedroom doorway when the key turned in the lock and the door slide open.
‘What do you want apart from insulting me?' His eyes were bloodshot and his voice was husky.
‘You stink, Kay. I give you ten minutes to clean up and meet me in the sitting room. If not, you will see the last of me and your son. You don't even care about him anyway. The time has started counting.' She tapped her slim gold wristwatch before she turned and walked away on her heels.
He swore ripely as he banged the door closed.
‘What the hell is wrong with you, Kay? Why are you giving your mother hell?' She rounded on him immediately he appeared a few minutes later, clad in a clean rumbled t-shirt and blue jeans.
‘What do you mean? Is she not the one who got me into this mess in the first place? She turned me into a laughing stock among my friends simply because she couldn't keep her legs closed. She messed up my life. Damn it!' He glared at her.
‘You messed up your life. Your paternity doesn't determine what you become in life. She is not responsible for your womanizing, boozing or messing around when your mates were busy excelling in life. Thank God you still have a father that is still willing to get you a decent job. Go out there and you will know the labor market is not smiling. Idiot.' She picked up her bag with a hiss.
‘What do you know? Do you know what it feels to be called a bastard?' He complained bitterly.
‘You are even complaining as if you care about the father you have always known all your life. Is it not the money and the lifestyle he gave you that you care about? Is that not why you wanted to kill his biological son? I am highly disappointed in you.' She paused. ‘Yes, I know what it means to be a bastard. Mr. Salmon is not my biological father but it changes nothing about who I am.' She headed for the door.
His jaw dropped in shock and awe. He caught her at the door.
‘Are you serious? Does that mean we can still marry?' He asked anxiously.
‘No, I am in a relationship with another man. I am in love with a man who doesn't whine and complains the way you do. You better brush up your act if you want your son to be proud of the man his father is.' She brushed away his arm and walked away.
‘I'm sorry, son, for all the shame I have caused you.' Patricia was standing a few feet away when he turned around. He looked very bleak.
‘Okay. When next is he coming back?' He asked shortly, refusing to refer to Salmon as Dad.
‘He will be here this evening' She replied quietly.
‘I will see him when he comes.' He went to the kitchen and went to get something to eat.
‘God bless you, Aliyah.' Patricia prayed fervently.
***************

The phone rang. Joseph stirred from sleep, burying his head deeper into the pillow. It rang continuously until his mind decided he wasn't dreaming. He reached out his hand and groped for it on the bedside table.
Why the hell didn't I switch this thing off before going to bed? He thought irritably as he tapped the phone and barked into it. He didn't open his eyes.
‘Who is this?'
‘I'm so sorry to wake you up, Joe. I need your help desperately.' It was Rebecca. He sat up abruptly in bed.
‘What is the problem?' His voice was husky with sleep.
‘My mum had a heart attack. Though she is stabilized now and the paramedics are on the way but I can't take Michael with me to the hospital. Can I drop him at your place on our way to the hospital? I will come and pick him in the morning.' Her voice wavered but she struggled to firm it.
‘I will be right over.' He tapped the phone and rolled out of bed.
Barely ten minutes later, he was driving into the big compound of the 3-story building at garage Offa where she was occupying a 3 bedroom apartment. The paramedics were already there and were loading the elderly woman into the hospital ambulance. Rebecca was already dressed in a black skirt and white shirt, partially covered by her lab coat. She rushed forward to meet him as he pulled to a stop.
‘Thank you. I appreciate you. I will get his stuff.' Her smile was wobbly at the edges, despite her brave appearance.
He pulled her into his arms for a full body hug and rubbed her back gently with firm strokes. Her arms tightened around his neck and she exhaled twice before her lips curved into a smile.
‘She will be fine. If there is any other way I can assist , don't hesitate to let me know.' He rubbed his forehead against her own and dropped a kiss on her nose before moving away.
‘You are doing it already. Thank you.' She felt better already.
‘I will get Michael.' He took the staircase two at a time and found his bedroom easily. The little boy was sitting up in bed, looking tousled and sleepy in his pajama tops and trousers.
‘Is grandma going to die?' His red lower lips jutted out as he looked up at him.
‘No, She is just a bit sick. She will be fine soon. Will you come with me to my house?' He crouched beside his bed with a smile.
‘Do you have a mummy? Can I call her grandma?' He asked curiously with a trembling smile.
‘Yes, you can. Let's get going so your mum can follow Grandma to the hospital.' He picked him up along with the bag beside the bed and was on his way out when Rebecca met them.
‘I will lock up and meet you shortly.' She marched action with words and joined them downstairs in a few seconds.
‘His school resume by 8 am. He takes cereals in the morning and I pack his lunch and snacks in the bag. Tomorrow is Friday and it is a half day. They closed at 1 am…' She trailed off with a smile when he turned laughing gaze at her.
‘Go away, Becky. We will be fine. I have a mother too, you know?' He teased as he opened the door and dropped the little boy in the passenger seat, adjusting it to a comfortable position.
‘Don't be naughty, Michael. Be good. Mummy loves you.' The ambulance's horn sounded impatient, interrupting her nervous tirade and she hurried away with a smile.
‘I like your car. I wish mummy can get a car too.' Michael mumbled at the tail end of a yawn.
‘She will have one very soon.' He smiled at him as he put the car into drive and drove out of the compound after the ambulance.
Michael was fast asleep by the time they get home.

BOLAPE:
TWIST OF FATE: #8

"Are you Joseph's mother, Naomi Abraham?' The doctor looked at the file and back at her.
"That is right. How is he?" Naomi approached her.
"He has pneumonia and it is at the final stage but he has been stabilized. Has he been taken other drugs before you brought him in?" The disapproval in the doctor's voice was subtle but obvious and Naomi heard it. She lifted her chin.
"Yes. He has been complaining about it for a while but we barely have enough to survive on a daily basis so we have been paying the nurse down the street a visit whenever it comes up. Is he going to be fine?" Her voice ended in a teary whisper and the doctor studied her for a moment.
"He will be fine. He has problem breathing right now and is on a ventilator. You can stay with him if you want to." The doctor smiled at her in assurance.
"Thank you, Doctor. I will stay." Naomi smiled back and began her vigil beside her son's bed.
"What is wrong, Salmon?" Naomi asked quietly. He returned to the hospital the following morning and had been in a pensive mood since he got in.
"I am fine. Do you think we should try and get him out of the country if he is not responding to treatment?" He asked soberly as he stared down at the young man who was struggling with his life.
"I don't think that will be necessary." She said pensively and he looked at her. "I really hope he finds the will to live again. He was so heartbroken and I guess he caught the chill on the wedding eve." She murmured to herself as she stroked the back of his hand.
"Who is she?" He asked curiously.
"Becky Badmus. She was in our house on her wedding eve but he turned her away because he wanted to take care of me before he settled down." Tears filled her eyes again and she swallowed hard. He stared at her in disbelieve.
"Are you serious? No wonder, she was the saddest looking bride I have ever come across and she kept looking into the crowd as if she was searching for someone. She was looking for him." He said with quiet wonder.
"It is as if history was repeating itself. It is destiny." She said quietly.
"He could have been my son, you know." He said with an air of accusation and she closed her eyes wearily.
"Salmon, don't go down that lane again. That issue is in the past and it should stay there. All I want is for my son to be fine so I can move on with my life." She said wearily and he took a deep breath.
"I am sorry, Naomi. I supposed I am blaming you for my marital issues. I should never have gotten married, instead of marrying the next available woman just to spite you." He said tiredly as he dropped onto the plastic seat beside the bed.
"I am sorry to hear about that. How is your wife? How are your kids?" Naomi sat beside him and he sighed heavily.
"My youngest daughter is pregnant for one idiot and the older two are just plain wayward. They can sleep with anything in trouser. I don't know exactly where I went wrong." He said with a weary sigh and proceeded to tell her so many issues going on in his home.
"I see. I think what they lack is discipline. What does your wife do?" She asked curiously.
"She is a senior banking officer. She doesn't even have the time for the kids." He complained bitterly and she gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Everything would be fine, Salmon. It is the job of the two parent to take care of the kids but it is not too late." She said with a smile.
"That is what Joseph told me a few weeks ago and once again, I wish he is my son. I mean that in a good way." He said with a small smile.
"It takes discipline and God's Grace to bring up a child. Try and be a good father to your children, it is not too late to be one." She said calmly.
"Thank you. I will start by being one to your son. That is a pledge. Let's go and see the doctor." He took her hand and led her out of the room.
"Kayode, my dad wants to see you and your family." Aliyah told her boyfriend in a small voice. She was sitting on the single sofa in his room and clutching the throw pillow nervously to her chest.
"Is it because of the pregnancy?" He asked in a gruff voice as he cupped his hand over the lighter and flicked it on to light the cigar dangling from his lips.
"Yes." She mumbled, trying not to give him a disapproving look when he blew smoke into the air and cigar smoke filled the room.
"That is a serious matter. I have told you to let's get rid of it and enjoy ourselves. Are you ready to be a wife and mother now?" He asked solemnly as he leaned against the door and watched her closely. He was still asking himself why he hadn't gotten rid of her when she told him she was pregnant. She wasn't the first woman to try that trick on him, especially once they realized how influential and wealthy his father was and he had learned to discard them as quickly as they come into his life. He met Aliyah at a club party along with her two alluring older sisters but he was attracted to her fresh and innocent look. He wasn't surprised to meet her a virgin when he took her to bed on their second date.
"Well, my dad doesn't want to hear that. He said he will kill me if I try to abort it. Don't you love me?" She asked sulkily as she peeked at him from beneath her veiled eyelashes.
"Baby, I love you." He grinned at her and his dimple winked to life as he came towards her, flicking the cigar in a nearby ashtray.
"I love you too. Please come and see my Dad before he sends me out of his house." Her lower lips jutted out, trembling as she looked at up at him.
"Oh, my baby!" He bent down in front of her and caught her lower lips gently with his teeth. He slipped his hands into her tissue top and captured her full juggling boobs in his palms.
"Oh Kayode, I am not here for this." She moaned as she pushed weakly at his hands.
"Baby, I am in love with your boobs but please try and be wearing your bras. I don't want one idiot seeing it and snatching you from me." He said gruffly as he kneaded her flesh possessively and ran his thumbs lightly over the rigid nipples. Her breath rushed out in a half laugh, half moan as pleasure snake through her. She tried to continue their discussion but gave up when he reached under her micro-mini jeans skirt and yanked away from her her thong.
"Let's get this out of the way and we will talk later." He grinned wickedly as he pushed her back until she was on her back and parted her legs. "You are so wet, baby. I know you can't wait to have me." He crooned softly as he slipped his finger into her. Her lips parted in a helpless moan and her hips jerked in anticipation as he slipped in the second finger and sent pleasure thrills to her brain. She lifted her top and shrugged it off in reckless abandon. She knew where this would end as usual and wondered if this insatiable urge for this man would end one day or if it would always be the answer to all their problems. All thought flew out of her brain when he rubbed the tip of his manhood over her wet entrance and it generated a languid feeling in her thighs. "Yes, baby." He groaned as she wriggled and squirmed until he was completely covered by her warm tight wetness. He released another groan as he started thrusting slowly, watching her face and gradually building the tempo until they were drowning in the tide of lust.
The phone rang noisily and Ifeoma jerked awake in bed. She glanced at her husband who was fast asleep beside her and picked up her phone from the bedside shelf. She groaned quietly when she realized who the caller was and tip-toed out of the room.
"What do you want again, idiot?" She hissed angrily into the phone and he laughed, a soft beautiful sound that had deceived her years ago. How could I be so blind? She thought in agony.
"What took you so long before you answer my call?" He said quietly.
"Well, normal people are in bed and fast asleep by now. What do you want?" She repeated coldly.
"You are indirectly telling me I am abnormal, right? That is a compliment, thank you." He laughed again and she gritted her teeth. She knew he would make his point when he was good and ready and she had no choice than to wait.
"Why are you calling me at this time of the day? Don't you have a life?" She spat into the phone, trying to lower her voice before she woke up her husband.
"I don't have one without you. I still have those beautiful pictures of you in the throes of passion, baby and I look at it every day. I can't forget what it feels to taste those succulent boobs." He murmured in a low voice and she closed her eyes in agony.
"I know you won't allow me to forget that one night of reckless passion and I have given you enough money all through the years whenever you are broke which is like all the time. What else do you want, Kingsley?" She said in a tired voice as she glanced furtively into her bedroom to make sure her husband was still fast asleep.
"I want us to meet and it has to be very soon." He said firmly.
"No way. Are you crazy? Do you even know how crazy that is?" She blurted out instantly and could have bit her tongue.
"Well, there is no problem if you don't want to see me. How is the voting for the Acting vice president going on in your office? I am sure you are leading the vote by now." He said in a friendly voice. Dread settled in the bottom of her belly like lead and she felt the acidic taste of fear at the back of her throat.
"How do you know about the voting going on in my office?" She asked in a trembling voice and he laughed again. "I made it my business to know about everything going on in your life, my love. How will you feel when your colleagues got to work one morning and saw the picture of their senior manager in her glorious nudity, her legs wide spread for all to see?" He painted such a vivid picture in her mind that she nearly threw up on the cold tiles.
"Where do you want to meet? When?" She was trembling so much the phone nearly fell out of her hand.
"That is my girl. I know you will cooperate." He laughed out loud and it sounded like a raging volcano in her ear.
"What is the problem, Naomi? Is Joseph alright?" Salmon asked anxiously as he walked into the private ward and noticed her eyes were red and swollen with tears.
"The doctors said he is not responding to treatment. He is barely breathing, Salmon. He just lay there, so still and lifeless. What am I going to do if he stops breathing?" Naomi voiced out her deepest fear as tears welled up in her eyes again and spilled uncheck down her cheeks.
"Where is your faith, Naomi? He is not going to die." Salmon's heart squeezed in anguish as he drew her into his arms.
"I am scared." She whispered as she dropped her head on his chest and her body shook as she sobbed silently, wretchedly.
"Do you have an international passport? Does he have one?" Salmon asked after a moment.
"He has a passport but I don't have one. What do you have in mind?" She raised tear-stained face to him.
"Let's get him out of this environment. I would have talked to Becky to at least come and see him but she is out of the country on a honeymoon with her husband. The earlier he gets used to the fact that she is married and no longer available, the better. We will get you a passport without much delay." He said briskly.
"Thank you. God bless you for me." She whispered brokenly as she raised her clasped hands to his.
"You deserve the best. Sit down, I will get someone to start arranging the visa for us." He sat down and brought out his phone.
"You are missing him already, Andrew" Salmon observed the sober look on Andrew’s face as Joseph and his mother were assisted through check-in at the airport.
"Yes, I am. He is strong and I am sure he will be fine. Thank you very much for your kindness." Andrew smiled at him.
"You are welcome. I will check up on them as soon as I am a bit free from work. What do you do?" Salmon asked curiously as they turned to leave the airport departure terminal.
"I work as an Assistant Supervisor in Lubicon Servicing Firm." Andrew said casually as he turned to look at Bella whose gaze never left his face since they left Ilorin. She blushed and looked away. She had insisted on following her father when he was leaving home this afternoon and Salmon figured it would get her out of trouble for the day at least.
"I take it you study engineering too?" Salmon smiled at him as they approached the taxi park.
"Yes, sir. We were in the same class all through primary, secondary and university days." He smiled back as he brought his attention back to the elderly man.
"That is good. Bella, sit in the front while I will occupy the backseat with Andrew. I need to discuss some things with him." Salmon instructed as the cab driver opened the car doors for them.
"Yes, Daddy. We are going to the hotel now, right?" Bella tried to hide a yawn as she glanced at her father but her glance flitted to Andrew's face again.
"Yes. Take us to the Lagos Airport Hotel." Salmon told the cab-man as they entered into the cab through the different doors.
"Yes, sir." The cabman responded as he got behind the wheel and kicked the engine to life.
