Re: My Medical School Diary by Nobody: 11:36am On Dec 30, 2017
Exams were batch by batch until the last set wrote.

Then, around 7pm on Sunday, got a whatsapp message that results had been released... shocked
Jesu kriste! After some minutes, same guy sent the pdf(of our results) to me... Chai! And I was already eating.. Nah, nah I thought.. I must finish this food before I check anything. In case... You know na undecided.
I cannor coman kee myself angry
Rushed my food with shaky hands.. Took a deep breath. Picked up my phone.
Hands were now more shaky(this happens to everyone unless you're emotionless angry)

Opened, searched for my name...

Couldn't believe my eyes.. shocked

I made 86%!
My joy knew no bounds. cheesy

Ps. Guys, this isn't gloating.. I'm just stating these facts to see if at least I'll be able to encourage some young guns out there....
Thanks.

Re: My Medical School Diary by Nobody: 6:36pm On Dec 30, 2017
So Landers, with the results out, hopes were smashed/revived.

All in all, we still had to wait for the list.. I was confident since I was already above the previous year's cut off for my course.. Try to know the previous year's cut off for the course you're aspiring for so you know what target to set and how hard to prepare.

Some aspirants do not not have aim/target.. And that's bad.. Very bad. It isn't done that way.
Setting a target gives you an inkling of things you should do.
The score(although low) I had was my least target(yeah, I set an upper and lower target.. )... And I worked towards it, paid off!
Don't be scared of competitions. It makes you better but know your limits and capabilities. Don't say because A chose X institution you'll also do the same.. No be so.

So, on a sunny afternoon on Saturday, alert came in that it had been released..
Calm as ever, checked and my name was there.

Thank you. I want to know the past questions you used while preparing.
I want to study keypoints as I don't think there's enough time to start reading textbooks now in preparation for jamb.
I have tried looking for One-time success series but I'm yet to find them

Past questions?
The normal past questions na or are there different types?
Please I beg you in the name of God, read your textbooks.. And who told you there isn't enough time? Of course there is. Depends on how you use your time.
Use the Lamlad texts(They have many jamb standard questions) to check yourself on each topic.
Again, it depends on how you use your time.
Organisation is the key..
GOOD LUCK!

Please be explicit on this.....I don't think there is enough time to prepare for this jamb and smash 300+(especially for students going for medicine like me),with just 2 months remaining.

You mentioned ORGANISATION......I, for example, read everyday from morning till night (because my people are hell-bent on seeing that I enter medical school next year,so they relieved me of every house work but to study),but it seems that I don't acheive much!.....I have enough time, but I lack organisation!...I'm scared!....I don't want to tell my people stories again in this JAMB.....Please,I would like it if you can share with us some tips you applied in utilising this principle(ie.the most effective study skills to use to prepare for this JAMB especially now that the exam is already at hand).

Also, which textbook is very good for JAMB biology preparation? I have an achilles heel in biology....

How many questions do we expect from that Jamb recommended novel(INDEPENDENCE)?.....that novel is a crap, very boring, and full of BIG grammer,LAST DAYS AT FORCADOS HIGH SCHOOL was better...

There's actually enough time if you've already been preparing before now.
It isn't only about reading. One can read, read and read and still not show signs of improvement. When you read, do you also you practise with PAST QUESTIONS? I place emphasis on pqs because they're indeed helpful..
I'm sure there're some questions which even after reading and reading one will still not get them. That's where past questions come to play. You don't expect to grasp all details in a concept after reading. Pqs reveal your areas of weakness and hence, tells you to work on them.
Two months isn't a great deal of time but there's much you can do to improve..

Now, on organisation..
Create a to do list of topics(esp the ones that are still giving you troubles) you're to read everyday.
Make sure you read them(be determined! Avoid distractions!) Don't waste your time on topics you already know(you can do revision on them before the day of your exam).
Like I said before, test yourself on the topic once you're through. This will help you learn faster. Do not cram(this is jamb, not waec. Understanding is needed), it's pure waste of time! Associate what you already know with things you're to learn.

On the biology texts...
I used modern(mainly for reading)
Essential(for its diagrams. If I'm not mistaken, Jamb still uses black/white diagrams)
and Lamlad(for the questions it carries)
One interesting thing about biology is you already know what you already know. You just need to revise at intervals in order not to forget.
And again, don't forget your jamb past questions. Solving at least 10 years(500 questions) in each should do.

Questions(type and amount) from the novel vary from one candidate to another..
But I don't think it'll exceed 15(the total number of questions in English is 60).

Try to do all what you've written on your to do list before the day runs out..

GOOD LUCK..

lol.
Chief there is still much time to study for this coming jamb. just plan your work and stick to it study very hard and get those textbooks mastermind has stated above.
Be more attractive to the area you could find difficult in your study. revision also goes a long way in studying, you may choose 30min after your study to revise those topic giving you tough time if you have done with your reading on the topic before and try solving question on it, the more you do this the simpler the load.
Try following the syllabus up to know the important topic you really need to study and plan on how to cover it up within this short period of time because some time people study unnecessary materials and they think they are on the point in which they are off #key.
Try to read and study wide.
#lamlard is very useful when it come to Jamb and I bet you you can finished the textbook within a month cause the textbook is not that bulky but require your dedication and concentration.

prepare for the worse and pray for the best.

hope this could be helpful sir.

Hey boss
I will be sitting for UTME this year and i applied for MBBS.
I am an average science student.
I am not doing well in physics and chemistry.
I really need ur advice on how to study those subjects... I dont even understand physics... I study, study and study but i dont still understand it. I really need ur advice. How did u study for physics during ur own time?
I wont let physics and chemistry stand on my way of becoming a med doctor.

I believe a problem shared is half solved thats why i posted it here.
Thanks in advance and God bless u.

Try using lamlard or calculation in physics.
jot down important formula study it on daily basis and solve question under it, I mean many question and try to relate the formula with your previous known formula i.e related to the topic you already know.
for chemistry study and know about the elements first. and try study about acid. those are the basis to firstly know.
