@POLITICSNGR

The Muslim rights concern group has submitted a memorandum to the Federal house of Representatives concerning the 'injustice' meted out to a Muslim student, Firdaus Amasa.

Amasa made headlines late last year after she refused to remove her hijab in order to be called to bar. Below is a statement made available to PoliticsNGR from MURIC, signed by its leader, Prof. Ishaq Akintola;

The Committee on Judiciary and Justice of the House of Representatives was mandated on Wednesday 20th December, 2017 to investigate the circumstances surrounding Law School hijabgate. A law graduate of the University of Ilorin, AbdulSalaam Firdaus Amasa, was barred from ‘call to bar’ by the Nigerian Law School. The committee was given two weeks for the assignment.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has since dispatched its memorandum to the committee.

In summary, MURIC’s memorandum which was addressed to the Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary and Justice and entitled “Memorandum in Respect of Call to Bar Case in the School of Law”, affirmed the mandatory nature of hijab for Muslim women in the Qur’an and restated the provisions of the Nigerian constitution on freedom of religion and respect for the dignity of the human person. The memorandum also revealed previous court decisions in favour of hijab including a Court of Appeal pronouncement confirming the right of Muslim women to use hijab.

MURIC appealed to the House of Representatives to “stand up for justice in this matter of infringement of Allah-given fundamental right of a lady who, having satisfied all righteousness in the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, is being denied her right to practice the law profession on account of her being a Muslim”.
The memorandum also stated that the Law School Hijabgate has brought to the fore the myriad of persecutions faced by Muslim women because of hijab in various sectors.

It adds, “In the process, thousands of Muslims have been denied international passports, driving licences and national identity cards while millions have been disenfranchised during elections. It is a case of mass profiling of Muslims.”

It added, “We therefore appeal to the House of Representatives as the voice of the voiceless and the bulwark against oppression and persecution, to take the bull by the horn by criminalizing the obstruction, denial and stigmatisation of female Muslim women in hijab while carrying out their civic responsibilities like obtaining international passport, driving licence, voters’ registration card, etc.

MURIC concluded by seeking the following reliefs:
1. Immediate ‘call to bar’ for AbdulSalaam Firdaus Amasa;

2. A judicial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the molestation of Muslim students who were forced to remove their hijab on that fateful day;

3. Identification and adequate disciplinary measure (or measures) in respect of the Law School female lecturer who stepped on the hijab of Firdaus and debased it by using her feet to rub it on the floor and “kicked it around”;

4. a review of the code of dressing in the Nigerian Law School as it affects the ‘manifestation’ of religious beliefs and

5. a review of the dress code in all professions where uniforms are used such that female Muslims in such professions can use suitable hijab along with the uniform.

read this carefully.

i have a bad news and a good news.

between America and Muslim who is the 666? its not america as you or may think, its no one else but Islam. Islam predicted that the world will be conquered for Allah and islamized through nothing else but radicalization. a war and killings (jihad) into submission. i use to doubt and laugh at the Islamic scholars and their believe in Islamic prophecy with their strong desire to fulfill it by conquering the world for Islam, until i did some research as inspired by divine.

the Bad News is that Muslims will succeed in Islamizing the world and Nigeria inclusive. Not because the rest of the world is chasing after economic interest or the churches after money, its a prophecy in the Quran and in the bible about the antiChrist that will emerged, who will torture the children of Christ and make them accept the mark of the beast forcefully. the only way the Muslim will know that everyone accept Islam is to take the word Allah on their forehead and no one shall be left.

what can you do to stop them from succeeding? nothing... its a prophecy from God that must be fulfilled through prophet Daniel.

again, who is an anti Christ? i know you are thinking america? do Americans hate Christ? no.. even though the government is not a follower of Christ, but they are not anti Christ.. America interest to the world is domination of world power to contain other countries and for their economic benefit and not for religious issues. They never hate or torture Christian into submission.

every Muslim believe that America would be destroyed and the world shall be conquered by Islam and many of them want to be part in that martyr to fulfil the Quran for Allah.

How are they going to succeed i still don't know, America might destroyed itself from war with other countries, and Muslim league might arouse against the rest of the world. but the world need to watch out.

Moses and Jesus were the two Covenants, Moses was old Covenant while Jesus the Last Covenant.

and during their birth similar things happened as it was predicted by the prophet long ago. it appeared in the Jews scribe and verifiable from the Jews testimonial.

The similar thing that happed during their birth was that both kings got the message or prophecy that their kingdom would be ruin by a new childbirth.

And they both ordered that every new born baby be killed for that year.

But mohamend claimed to be the last prophet he copied the Jewish testament and the Christian bible, they carried out heavy modification to form the Quran.

Mohamend initiated a new covenant but during his birth there were no killing of babies.

the Jews didn't end their testimonial but expecting a coming Messiah and when Jesus Christ came He ends the testimonial, can you see the relationship?

Now how can the last covenant that ended continued by mohamend after about 600 years? they called out the Jews and Christian which they normally called
"People of the Book" claimed that they tempered with the holy book.

Christians never accuse the Jews for tempering the book nor was it written that the book will be tempered. But mohamend claimed the book was tempered.

What the bible says about the false prophet?

The Islamic Creed is already VERY ANTI-CHRISTIAN.

"Allah is God, Mohamed is the last prophet.
Jesus in NOT the son of God, not divine.
God does not have a son neither a wife.
The Bible can NOT be trusted.
The Gospels were corrupted.
Christians altered the bible.
Spreading Islam by force is acceptable.
Israel must be conquered, and the Jews killed. "

And in 1 John 2:22b (New Living Translation) ...Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.

Muslims deny that Jesus is the SON of God and the Holy book was altered. But Christ never accuse the Jews of tempering with the old testament.

Who is the beast? there are two beasts in revelation 13; the first beast who is often referred to as the Antichrist. And the second beast the false prophet.

" And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. " Rev 13:16-17.

The Quran also has several passages that express concern for the Christian practice of worshipping Jesus Christ as God. It is the Christian doctrine of the Holy Trinity that most disturbs Muslims. To Muslims, the worship of any historical figure as God himself is a sacrilege and heresy.

Here is what it says

"If only they [i.e. Christians] had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course, but many of them follow a course that is evil" (5:66).

"Oh People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion, nor say of God anything but the truth. Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, was (no more than) a messenger of God, and His Word which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him. So believe in God and His messengers. Say not, 'Trinity.' Desist! It will be better for you, for God is One God, Glory be to Him! (Far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs" (4:171).

"The Jews call 'Uzair a son of God, and the Christians call Christ the son of God. That is but a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. God's curse be on them; how they are deluded away from the Truth! They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of God(Allah), and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary. Yet they were commanded to worship but One God: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him! (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)" (9:30-31).

you be the judge.

I don't know why it is only poor Muslims that take this dressing of a thing serious.I have seen pictures of Buhari's daughter called to the same bar without her hijab.When I go through the social media pages of most of these northern Muslim BIG MEN daughters I find most of them not wearing hijab...The annoying thing about this case is that the foolish girl studied law,knew about these rules before enrolling into law school and still decided to break the rules.This got me wondering if she actually learnt anything all through her stay in the university.

I think they would have submitted a memorandum for them to be granted their Islamic country where everything about Islam will be exercised without any inference or disturbance. That will save everybody unnecessarily headaches. These are the things that makes some people believe that this country is not and can never be one.
Am also curious why MURIC is yet to issue a statement or response or their stance on the atrocities metted to the entire nation by Fulani herdsmen. Does it mean hijab is more important than the lives been lost on per second billing?

Is it not ironic that in a country where deaths have been recorded in Omoku,people in pains in Abuja,fuel disaster all over the country,bomb-blast in Borno,fulani ethnic-cleansing of Benue,that Ishaq Akintola and his fellow Neanderthals will subject us to an hijab issue that is dead on arrival?

This only means she didn't learn anything about the law.

The profession requires you to show no preference nor affiliation as a representative of justice in the court of law

Hijab (just like Cape used my nuns) is an identity of religious affiliation.

When will CAN do same on the Fulani herdsmen massacre in middle belt

On the topic
I think it's time for all religious groups to have their own law schools and dress as they like since some people cannot do without religious sentiments for once in their lives.....
The traditional worshippers too shouldn't be over looked.. Everyone should be carried along

Issues like this will be coming up until we divide this country... There is no running away from it
The fact that Nigeria is a secular state gives some people sleep less nights ... They will never rest until they set the country ablaze

This country is not an Islamic State and will never be … If she is not ready to submit to the rules of the profession, she should as well go and study Islamic studies and bash her PHD in it.

I hope nobody will raise an eye brow if a Revd. Father insists that he should be called wearing his cassock and rosary? Hope you will be ok to attend a call to bar ceremony in the nearest future only to see a man wearing a red skirt decorated with cowries because that is what the gods have asked him to wear?
