Hi. I decided to respond to this post cos it's quite recent. My hubby got a job recently at Fiji and we are also in process of relocating. The company that offered him employment is helping with immigration process but the application for work permit forms were sent and it also requires medical report, police report and other required attachments. Since there's no Fijian embassy in Nigeria, visa would be given on arrival at the country. I would also like to know how far you have gone with the process.
Please what are the processes of getting a job with a company in Fiji? Is there a recommended job site I can use?

As much as I am still baffled about your family's potential relocation to Fiji, I would answer your question;
Fiji is visa free to a large number of countries owing to the fact that they don't have as many consulates dispersed globally, except within the pacific region and the UK if I am correct.
So yes, Fiji is visa upon arrival to the Nigerian passport, if you meet certain criteria.

However the main challenge with flying to Fiji are the transit visas you would require, of which the UK, South Korea, or South Africa would be required, as there is no direct flight to Fiji.

My dear,
First make an inquiry for flight routing with a travel agency on potential flights to Fiji, then from there your transit visa requirement will be known.

If you would transit through UK for example, then you would require a UK transit visa and you could simply check the UK embassy site for transit visa information.

I really don't know the process of getting a job in Fiji, my husband applied for the job through naukri.com. Fiji has a strong policy against employing foreigners if there are qualified locals available. So getting an employment there means no local was qualified or applied for the job. But the good thing is that u can travel to Fiji without visa as a Nigerian and stay for up to 3 months. You could use the opportunity to hunt for jobs. One thing is certain there, you have to be offered employment to get a work permit.

Why is relocating to Fiji baffling to you?

Because I have seen Fiji... And Fiji is just a small Island with the posh opportunities reserved just for "it's citizens" ... Like, everybody knows everybody in Fiji, so anyone who screams "Jobs!" In Fiji... I hold my peace, but I know better(statistically), having been with an organization aimed at community development in the Pacific regions.

Except you work in the university of Fiji or the UN, Fiji is no haven for occupational relocation or economic migration(only FNU or a UN based organization can put you on an expat salary), I just think of Moana anytime I remember Fiji... There is also acute poverty in that Island, but the people are naturally content people, so they love their Island life. Suva is also a very crammed up city, because it is the live wire of Fiji... bottom line; if you are not on an expat salary, don't go near Fiji, regardless of the job offer.

I know Nigeria is hard now, and relocating seems a likely solution, but I implore people to critically analyse some travel destinations before the actual venture. Check your hustle destinations first.

However Fiji is a great place to visit, the Scenery, Beaches, Skies, the air/atmosphere, and overall feel is almost like no place on earth... I would absolutely go there on vacation and spend money... But to go and live there indefinitely ... no way Brov.
