I think you need look at it from two perspectives there are those that could be called loosely football analysts. And there are those who are fanatical fans thier approach is not based on rational but emotive deep passion.

So you you are trying to rationalise the irrational, it's an exercise in futility.
My brother, you've said it all. Some people can be willfully dense. I will learn to ignore some mentions.

What is your problem You didn't buy my data and not even Seun who owns this site can tell me what to do.

What is wrong with making a suggestion. If you have anything against Vanzekin, just put it up. If Rufai could make the France 98 squad out of retirement, why are you making my suggestion look so inappropriate?

Yes, Vanzekin is a much more reliable goalkeeper than Akpeyi and Ezenwa.

Tell me more I am interested.

You need to cut emotive sentiment remove your personality.

And consider things from the perspective of the clubs. Premiership clubs want proven and current goal scorers. Football is like fashion nobody is wearing last seasons clothes.

The managers job is on the line they need a player to perform NOW not when he has figured out how to fit into the team or waiting for the team to adapt to him.

A team thats at the bottom of the table will look for a player to impact immediately. KC price tag is astronomical for a striker who as it stands can not make the bench and the two managers have had little or no confidence on him.

So which premiership club is going to pay £25 million plus his huge wage bill

He needs to get any club Bundesliga, La Liga and if he wants bto get into the EPL it is the championship that will give him the best opportunity.

If he doesn't move then he will have to have a blistering outstanding world cup. Otherwise it will be down hill.

Very sorry to say but this is the harsh reality this not a time for beating about the bush. He needs to ACT NOW.

I agree with you Sir.
Imagine demanding 25 million for a guy who literally struggles to make the bench at a midtable EPL club.....

They never serious.

Great move because Benfica would see no problem in letting him go to bigger club if he has a good world cup.

100% this is the business model that Benfica, Porto and Sporting have had for years.

Just when you are dealing with them watch the buy out clause. I do feel that his pace will give him an edge in that league.

Nonetheless. I feel if he could overcome the physicality of the championship he could be in for a much bigger money move to the EPL.

Which is best difficult because I don't know how sincere Benfica is.

His proposition has substance. The issue here is not that he chose Nigeria over Arsenal. Iwobi need not have played a senior match for Arsenal before the proposition that he chose Nigeria over England becomes tenable. Fact is that even while he was at the Airport on his way to his first competitive game for Nigeria Roy Hodgeson was still calling him. He ignored the call. He chose Nigeria over England.

Q: Does France have the best squad?

A: Yes. Along with Brazil and Germany. And let's not forget Argentina. Argentina is at the same level as Spain, but the thing is that they play with so much pressure that they're unable to perform. It's not true that they don't have midfielders. I think Banega could play for Barca. Can't Mascherano play as a pivot? He obviously doesn't have the technical level that Busquets does, but he's improved a lot. When he came to Barca he had trouble positioning himself because he hasn't needed to do this before. He would play long passes or pass the ball to Gerrard and it was enough. But at Barca he had to do more. You have to look, visualize, see what player is unmarked and has enough space and time to work the play... Barca is the final exam for a player. It's the most difficult and most demanding club in the world. Madrid doesn't have the same neat football. If their defender boots the ball into the stands it's fine. That's the culture. People applaud. At the Camp Nou if you do that there are already noises in the crowd. Since Cruyff s time.

Q: You don't think the Bernabeu is demanding?

A: Both sets of fans are demanding, but the difference is that at the Bernabeu the demand is to give your all. They can't stand lazy players. Their reference is the spirit of Juanito. The culture of Madrid is the spirit of Juanito or Camacho. What's Barcelona's culture? It's not Victor Murioz's, or Caldere's. Barcelona's cultura is Cruyff s cultura. And he would turn, look, understand the game and not lose the ball.

Q: PSG is a reference in football now, but their history is still recent. How do you build a team when the players are more important than the club?

A: The player still respects the coach a lot. I mean: the idea that even if the player makes 20 million and the coach makes 5 million you still have to listen to him is internalized. We might reach a moment in which a star thinks "what the hell is this guy telling me?" But more than physical and tactical work, what a coach has to do is group management: talking to every player and knowing how to manage the difference maker. Being honest: "If you don't train well you won't play regardless of how much of a star you are. You should know that." And telling the group: "We have two things that aren't negotiable: respect and attitude." Thinking as a coach I think these are the two things that you can't do without. Player can fail. But let them fail with my ideals. Emotional intelligence is basic for a coach. You can't fight with your players. You have to seduce them.

Q: PSG's squad has always been very professional. Don't you think that with Neymar they're introducing a hedonistic incertitude of a guy who is capable of going to his sister's birthday in the middle of the season?

A: Neymar is a good guy. He likes to have fun. So does Alves. People think that Alves parties all the time because he posts videos on Instagram of him playing the drums. But he's professional. That's his life style.

Q: But Alves never left to go to his sister's birthday...

A: That's up to the coach. Cruyff had to manage Romario and that wasn't easy either.

Q: Do you think Neymar is a leader?

A: He's an incredible leader. He's amazing on the pitch. He has a strong personality and never gets scared. That's a quality. That's what makes great players great. The fact that in the most difficult moments he will say "give me the ball". What happened at Barca was that when things got tough everyone wanted the ball. Everyone had that personality. The problem with PSG and City in recent years was that their players weren't used to having this weight on them. Now you look at PSG and you see Cavani, Di Maria, Neymar, Verratti... They've won things. They've been there. Neymar gets mad when they don't pass to him. That's something.

Q: Does Mbappe has more potential than any player since Messi?

A: Yes. Mbappe is going to be... I think there will be a time after Messi and Cristiano when Neymar will be the reference. Because he's also Brazilian and Brazil have a good chance of being WC finalists. So Neymar's gonna have his period of 3-4 years. And then it's going to be Mbappe. He has brutal potential. He's very young. Just 19. And he's a beast. But I'm not sure... I think that talent ends up winning over physicality. Neymar is like Messi: talent and physicality. Right now I think that Mbappe has more physicality than talents. And the way I understand the game the players who make the difference more do so by talent. Neither Iniesta nor me had any physicality. Just talent. The ones who were touched with the magic wand have both: Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo Nazario, Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe has that too. But I see him more as an Henry. I'm sure he'll improve with Emery. He works well. He's a very good coach. But if you play him at Barca he would improve much more. He would understand everything. If Guardiola coaches him he goes from being an 8.5 to a 9.5. Neymar is already a 9.5. Difficult to improve that. Mbappe has to improve a lot, especially in terms of understanding the game. But because of the fact that since he was in the U16s o U17s he could go and do his play based on pure ability he hasn't had to think a lot about the rest of the game. I want to see what he does against an organized defense like Atletico. Based on the way I understand football, right now, Neymar is better.

so you mean ilorfa snr...never said his son will make a decision on his international future when he clocks 23 ?

That's not what I said dont change the substance of the discussion.

When you are an England youth international to keep your value and club options. You may not commit publicly to your preferred country.

It was made intrinsically clear that he would commit at 23 when his club future not national allegiance was clear and settled i.e. long term contracts.

However, once he had got his long term future sorted out he made that commitment last summer at 21. That means he has shown far more integrity than most.

However, there is a double standard and hypocritical one at that. These German boys rejected Nigeria at the initial stage openly. We are now courting them and essentially pleading that they choose Nigeria. But to date no commitment.

Compare both situations and tell me who is the more honourable and truthful.

His allegiance is no longer the issue.

I’m no longer on his case because he is not performing at the moment. But It’s only a rough patch.

goldfish80:

I remember you were on his case last year as Tammy's chief defense attorney. Even after making his debut for England, you felt it was part of Tammy's elaborate plan to play a couple of games for England then switch to Nigeria.
Please this is a new year. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Bad news.
Why is the young man moving? Is he not getting playing time or what? Are we complaining that he is playing in a lower league? Can't he see what the "going to big club" syndrome is doing to Iheanacho and Musa's career? Doesn't he know that his place in the SE is still under probability? Or is it the money?

I just can't understand the rationale behind his proposed move.....unless he is sure of an automatic starting shirt in Benfica.

His contract is about to expire and he has refused to renew (He says the offer is not good enough). His club wants to cash in.

Musa Features In Leicester U-23s Draw Vs West Ham
By James Agberebi

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa was in action for Leicester City U-23s who held West Ham United to a 0-0 away draw in the Premier League 2 on Friday night, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Musa who is yet to feature for Leicester in the Premier League this season and has been linked with a January exit, played the full 90 minutes and went close early in the second half only to see his drive saved at the front post by West Ham keeper.

Also in action for Leicester was long-term injury absentee Robert Huth and new signing Adrien Silva, who was however replaced just over an hour into the game.

The draw against West Ham means Leicester U-23s are now unbeaten in 19 straight league games.

They maintain second position on 29 points, just one point behind leaders Liverpool U-23s.

Oliseh Leads Table-Topping Fortuna Sittard To 7th Straight League Win
By Johnny Edward

A first-half brace from Djibril Dianessy secured a seventh straight win in the Dutch second division for Sunday Oliseh’s Fortuna Sittard who defeated Jong Ajax 2-1 to maintain top spot in the Eerste Divisie League on Friday, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.

Fortuna Sittard, coached by ex-Nigeria captain and manager Oliseh, now have 44 points from 20 league games. NEC Nijmegen are in second place with 43 points from 19 games.

Dianessy scored in the 11th and 20th minute to give Fortuna Sittard a two-goal lead into the break before Darren Sidoel scored a late goal for Jong Ajax in the 73rd minute of the encounter that produced six yellow cards.

Fortuna Sittard’s last league defeat was a 1-0 loss to Cambuur on November 17, 2017.

The Limburg side have recorded consecutive league wins over RKC Waalwijk, Den Bosch, Utrecht II, Go Ahead Eagles, Helmond Sport, PSV II and Jong Ajax in their last seven league games.
Fortuna Sittard face Dordrecht next Friday in their next game.

but will he be given good minutes on the pitch?
he can easily cut the edge in Greece...

He will probably get more game time in Greece but it seems like a backward move to me just in terms of the quality of the leagues. If he plays in Benfica, it will be better for him.

Those who comprehend the above will get to appreciate thegoodjoehunt's concerns about Nacho leaving Pep.

Thank you for this Super post. One of the best I have read in a long time and I see Xavi as the next Guardiola of the game.

Super excellent read and filled with impressive information of the past present and future of the game. As I was reading, it ran through my mind that Nacho left this. Understanding the game would improves the player and regular playing time in a team that does not improves the players understanding of the game can not have the same effect.

Let us hope the lessons of Pep Guardiola rubbed on Nacho and he keeps studying the game Deeney.

I always felt Xavi will make an excellent coach and this article shows he already has his own philosophy of the game ready.

Thank you again.

Meen this article/interview exposed alot about the man called pep. That guy good meen.

But Xavi understands football o. What he released can be termed a thesis. Wow.. see depth.

This guy will surely become a coach. A good one at that.

I think the most remarkable part of the article was how he took time to break the space-time philosophy, especially with the full backs moving into the midfield and creating passing lines. It will take time for that to sink in but the idea that it all falls down to space-time, makes it interesting.
