The comments here shows the reason why Nigeria remains backward and our leaders steal with impunity. We have all adopted the "subservience" posture. The Nigerian constitution, and I am sure other constitutions, has a supremacy clause. All rules made by any institution, body or agency which is inconsistent with the provision of that constitution is void to the extent of such inconsistency. That is the law and it is bigger than any other institution.
I am sure that the Kenyan constitution will have guaranteed her rights to dressing, expressing religious believes as well as rights of association. She should fight when those guaranteed rights are trampled upon. it is only then that our leaders will start either respecting or fear us. If the Catholic can't accept the dictates of the Constitution, they should relocate their school to a polity that supports their view. They are not bigger than the Constitution.

Let's start defending our rights.

Because, why would you spend the early years of your life cutting your hair only to end up buying another person's (Brazilian/indian) hair later in life?

As a teacher, I have seen cases of students lying to their parents to have their hair done only for them to see their boyfriends, some will go and gist with their friends and forget to come back home on time, the hair getting a long time to be done.
Parents will start calling the school asking about the whereabouts of their children.

A form one student failed to join a Catholic sponsored school in Kisumu West on Tuesday, January 9, after she refused to shave her hair as required by the school. Her long hair was the only impediment as she had complied with all the other requirements before she could be admitted to St Mark Obambo Secondary School.

The girl identified as Sharon Akinyi maintained that she could not betray her faith citing that women are allowed to have long hair as it is considered their covering.

It is not the first time that the school has hit headlines by effecting this hair policy when it suspended a form four student in 2014 for having long hair. The student was among three others but she did not shave hers after her parents' church pastor and education officials were involved and at the moment, she is working as a nurse, according to reports by the Standard.

A teacher at the school said that the policy does not seek to discriminate or victimise but it is because of the high temperatures and dust.
