Hell hated this man of God. This is indisputable. He is an old-fashioned Christian who cannot be cajoled into any new order.

I remembered not to forget the day I met this great grace in him.

He might never be conventional in telling people what they want to hear, but heaven rejoices he wouldn't stray off the message given to him from heaven.

Many may criticise him for not bending rules, yet he remained a figure to reckon with in heaven.

At a point when the word of God was confined, God used him to spread it across and sundry.

He was excommunicated due to this same spreading of the word. Persecuted by many denominations for what they thought was not good. Yet he forged ahead saving souls for his Lord.

In his former church, he used to ask questions very well, especially about issues relating to holiness and evangelism. On many occasion, they sought to silence those questions so it won't destabilize orderliness. He was labelled a rebel, a disobedient, yet God knew he was not.

He got saved and sanctified in 1964, ten years later was when baptism of the Holy Ghost came.What he achieved between those ten years, many Holy Ghost baptized believers never did.

I suspected he might never have desired a normal baptism, unlike those wishy-washy types that lack consecration was why he waited that long or that God knew he should be preserved for a greater exploit.

On an account as I was told by someone who knew him personally in those days. She was actually there at Ijebu church where the man of God and one other woman in the Lord was supposed to be interviewed to become an official church worker. He got to the waiting room and turned back. He was asked why, he softly told them he had not yet been baptized in the Holy Ghost as against the rule then. They wanted to bend the rule for him because of an exceptional spirit in him.

He was so fervent and very diligent as a volunteer team worker. He was a young vibrant believer, an ardent giver to God's work. As a young university lecturer which was rare in those days among the church, he would save his salary to donate to God while he goes about without car or fashionable wears of his status.

He was once challenged by the leader about his shabby dress as a lecturer, he replied he was saving to buy church bus. The heart of the leader got melted. What a consecrated life!

His financial integrity is uncommon. He doesn't have any bank account in his name. He doesn't have any personal property. He doesn't associate with money. You can't give him any personal gift. His children are never positioned in very key leadership. He believes only God can call his children to such positions and that is if they are consecrated enough to be used of God too. No special treatment. He surrenders all for the Lord.

He lives a life of deep consecration in so much that his former wife had to persuade him to have children. He and some first set of Bible study converts had initially vowed not to even marry. In this God boycotted them except one woman.

He wouldn't eat his food on time, fasting and praying for long hours. I heard one of his trousers got chopped off by the floor in his prayer room. This is a great secret to those who think fasting is not necessary.

Pastor Adeboye call him "BODA" which means my Senior. Pastor Bakare was a church Secretary and a student under him. And so many other ministers of the gospel passed through under his tutoring.

You can't cajole him with miracles. Once a great minister of God wanted to use him to demonstrate a miracle. He was sitting on a podium where the minister wanted to demonstrate the miraculous. He called him to come, but he never answered. When the man saw that this man of holiness would disgrace him, he called another fellow. Later he went to tell him the reason he cannot respond. That it was reported he had extramarital affairs.

Take holiness away from this man and you have killed him.

The day his whited hairs were robbed into my head, was the day I knew a certain deep secret about him. It was in a trance anyways... so calm down with me...smiles.

Those who betray this man have betrayed heaven. You don't because of where you are now and spoil where you are coming from. Men must thus be careful. There are still genuine men of God and he is one.

Let me hold it here a bit.

"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1).

"Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me" (1 Corinthians 4:16).

"Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample" (Phillipians 3:17).

"And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost" (1 Thessalonians 1:6).

"For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: Not because we have not the power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us" (2 Thessalonians 3:7, 9).

We can see here that Paul was neither arrogant nor conceited when he said the words quoted above but he had to say that since the church was being led astray by false teachers and apostles as we can see happening in our world today. The church could not actually see Jesus but they could see Paul and compare his life and ministry to those charlatans and false teachers. There's the need of mentors who can give good examples of the life and teachings of Christ. So I don't see anything wrong in pursuing after godly traits in godly ministers or following their examples.
