I heard IKEA is really good for affordable, easy-to-setup furniture, though I've not had to use them or any other.

Some departmental stores also do nice... Eg B&M and you can get used furniture on ebay too and save money

Look on gumtree or sphock, you might also get new or nearly new (if you don't mind tokunbo furniture)

I was able to get some basic furniture from Age UK at ridiculously cheap price. I however don't care about premium furniture. A couple of other charity shops too sell good furniture at reasonable price.

Facebook marketplace in your area is worth checking out as some people even give out stuffs for free as long as you're willing to move them yourself.

Don't mind me if these advices are irrelevant to you as they are coming from an overly prudent guy not willing to spend money

You are still a learner ordering furniture from amazon. Dont worry, give it few years you will LOL at yourself. Just get a small drill and order stuff from IKEA. This country you gast to learn to DIY.

everything is DIY except you have family members nearby and less busy/unemployed lol

and the good thing about it is you can also look online for people that assembly flat packs!!

If you order from iKEA you can pay extra to have it set up- and other old ones recycled.

cant be easy moving in with just you and a toddler. have you checked for nearby playgroup/nursery schools to get him/her off your hands for some few hours

Life can get really busy at times!

My provisional licence came. I had to submit my residence permit card to apply for it. It took exactly a week.

My people!!

On the day I arrived London to pick up my BRP, I lost my smartphone. Let me explain.

I finished with all my paperworks, which I must say was super fast. I decided to chill with my agency guys till it was 3pm as my flight to "Westeros" (if you know, you know) was to leave my 6pm at Luton airport.

Well, they helped call the Uber (bill on me) and I left for Luton by 3:45pm. As my phone was low on battery juice, I decided to charge it in this oyibo guy car o. Partly exhausted and weak, I decided to snooze for 10mins (worst mistake).

I woke up and we were still on the road. He offered me tic-tac gums and I took some just to keep me awake. Well we got to Luton airports and I got out with my luggage but forgot my phone.

After like 30 steps I remembered it but dude was gone already. I used the payphone to call my UK line. Dude pick it but kept saying "hello".
I dropped and called again and it was switched off and that was it.

I flew to "Westeros" without a phone. All I had on me was £20 and few $. No idea on how to contact my employers or how to find my way.
Worst off, it was heavily snowing. For a JJC warm blooded mammal like me, it was hell in heaven.

When we landed, I went to use the payphone but no success. Stranded, I went to some oyibo guys in one boothe like that and explained to them my situation. They offered to help contact the but we rang the numbers we found online from my employers website and no one picked up. This was around 9pm.
They suggested I should just take a taxi and go to the address but how do I tell them that I had only £20 on me?

I just thanked them and left to the arrivals waiting area hoping to see if someone will come for me. Fortunately, someone called out my name behind me, I turned but he was pretending to be on the phone just so to avoid any embarrassments if I wasn't the one, so I think.

Me gan decided to just bone and let him call the name again just so to be sure. He did and I answered, the rest is history.

Sha, I just thank God as cold no kill me that night.

Without any phone or UK line, I just went to work so as to have some bar by the month's end.

Fast forward to today, I got a phone deal. Paid off my gbese in naija, did some shopping and still have more than enough money to last me for three months (going with my monthly budget expenditures). All these from just 2weeks paycheck.

Grateful to God all the way.

I'll be posting when I get free time. Now, I need to focus and get something's sorted professionally and otherwise.

Transferwise gives you more than those two but charges £1.44 fees while the above two charge £1

Check exchange rate through google or abokifix before using any of them.
