Hello Everyone, very informative statements by you all. I received a call yesterday from someone telling my I had won a gift voucher for a trip to any part of the world and well their usual talk to cut the story short. I the lady told me to come for a presentation at Radission blu sometime this week to receive my gift voucher. I was kinda excited bit then again i asked what the catch was and of course she said their is no catch i simply won a voucher that covers my accommodation for a minimum of 5days. I was curious and asked her a couple of questions she answered some and deflected the others saying shes just doing her job to inform me about the package. I now explained that my wife is out of town so i would be attending alone, she said i have to be with my wife because its a gift for couples who have to be present with their proof of identity.( I even joked if i should bring my marriage certificate, lol). She told me anytime my wife gets back i should call her and she would rebook me for another presentation during that period. I then asked her to text me the company name and website, which she did immediately ( www.myhemingways.com)
Anyway i did the needful, and researched them, then googled them and stumbled on this blog.
Now when everyone says they are scammers, i don't think they are. A scammer would probably take your money and not give you anything in return. What they are doing is pure marketing, their approach may be very crafty because they hide alot from you based on what people have said from their experiences. And of course, I'm sure the target is the wives on that presentation day, thats why they're adamant you come with your spouse, (afterall i told the lady i filled the form not my wife hence when i said i would bring a marriage certificate).
Well, thanks guys and ladies for the heads up, I would most definitely not bother myself, i wont have minded a freebie honestly but i would never knock their hustle. They are definitely doing something right to still be in business.

Nairaland is indeed informative. I deeply appreciate you guys for providing every bit of information required about these people that have almost called life out of my phone.

I wouldn't have forgiven myself if I had journeyed down to ikeja tomorrow only to be seated down and cajoled by one hungry/desperate marketer whose commission has beclouded his/her sense of humanity. embarassed

Thank God I did not fall for this, I wouldn't have taken it easy with them and with myself and probably taken the anger out on some innocent people who knew nothing about my encounter during the needless 90 minutes presentation session. sad

In fact I don't undermine the possibility of me taking out a punch on their agent during the obnoxious demand.

Anyways, I will be waiting for their next call, sure they need some sensible talk into the dumb scull.

i was invited to hemmingway safari africa's HQ at alausa to pick up my free voucher for $1,200 (to cover lodging in any country of my choice). the hemingway rep spoke to promised that the voucher was redeemable in any country, all i had to do was attend the seminar with my spouse. i did after a very long and appallingly obvious sales pitch. the agents present tried to coerce us into parting with a sum of over 4 million naira for some holiday package over the next 20 years 9can't really give the details of the package because i was only interested in my free voucher. lol! i must mention that i specifically asked the agent if the voucher applied to the U.A.E, I was assured it did). long story short, after, hubby and i refused to bite, the bade us goodbye and presented a voucher that was only redeemable in 4 obscure countries. while that form of marketing is not a scam or out rightly illegal -at least not in Nigeria- i would advise any person that comes in contact with this brand to keep it moving, they are subtly dishonest!!! and that is the worst sort of dishonest. i believe any brand who is so disinterested in perception and brand image that it would lie about its products before you are even properly introduced to the brand, would do more sinister things once they have achieved their immediate aim which is getting unsuspecting nigerians to part with their money.

It is just the way we take it. Their plan is not mostly for Nigerians, where we always want to accumulate wealth and does not know how to enjoy it but only on Owembe. You can imagine how much an average white man spend on Vacation annually. I registered with them and travelled three times on their plan. Like my trip to Gambia where i stayed in a Beach resort called Kaloli beach resort. I stayed there for one week on their expenses. Those white People I stayed with they paid an equivalent of N385,000 in Euro currency. Again last year they paid for my accommodation (free voucher) in a 5 star Hotel at Sandton, Johannesburg.
What prompt me to pay the sum of 1m was I always plan to go on a vacation with my family every year but could not make it. I saw an opportunity to make my dream of traveling a reality, how? If I tied my money with that company it will make me to travel for the next ten years otherwise i will loose my money.
you have to spend to enjoy your life.
Wakanow and Emirates are doing similar vacation package but is a little bit more expensive.

Personally I was almost a victim. So I sent a message to them after reading this thread to clarify if I'd need to pay any commitment fee before getting my so called gift voucher. Lollz. That was about 2 months ago. The date of the proposed seminar came and went and I am yet to get a reply. Funny thing is I once authored an article that I believe is the litmus test to find out if you are about to be duped (419, love scams, ponzi schemes etc). One guy called me just last week, heavily congratulating me on the free voucher of up to $1,200 that my wife has won for the family and which we can use in any country of our choice. He was even advising me on general matters and all, taking his own marketing to another level. He sweet talked everything and for a moment, i was also fast thinking of where to go on holidays with the family.
My wife filled their form when she took the children to Shoprite ikeja for the Christmas shopping and everything looked so legit. He said we needed to come for a presentation 9am the following morning at their office in Ikeja and we must not be late else he wount be able to help us beg his Ogas. As in, everything looked so great for a moment. The whole family was so excited.
Because he said it was compulsory for me and my wife to jointly come that morning, we had to leave our children with the maid (for the first time) while we left home as early as 6:45am due to his warnings of no late coming and because Ambode's road overhaul projects has been causing serious traffics.
We sha got there in high spirits with me and my wife still arguing between going to France, UK or the US.
The program started before 10am and then like we were warned on this forum before we went, it was all serious marketing and sweet talking at the highest level. Asking us to join the greatest membership and bring out of cheques to make immediate commitments as the spaces were limited.
Membership starting with at least 600,000 naira and with a standard of above 2 million naira for a 10 years bla bla.
After 2 hours of just sitting there, i could not take it anymore and stood up, asked for my voucher and it was stories, i just couldn't slap them on the spot.
You called me and said i won a voucher because you were doing your anniversary and i needed to pick it up at your office with my wife presenting a valid ID card, then i got there and you are saying except i make a payment right there, the voucher is not what i would get. What else is a defination of fraud and deceit than this.
Wasted our time, efforts, resources, made us leave our kids to the maid cos we had to leave very early and you thought its a joke to play with people's lives, intelligence and time ?
Dont fall for them please.
They are just some people who have invested in building resorts in africa and looking for who would go there to waste money. The anywhere in the world promise is a hoarse, its mainly some african countries and even at that, the costs are just too crazy.
No wonder they called us at just about 6pm that we had to come to their office 9am the following morning, they would make the notice so so short, you would hardly be able to ask anybody or research about them.
Its sad anything goes in this country.
Dont fall for them and dont even attempt to waste your time.

Travel is not by force. In an ideal situation travel is something you do after years of proper planning with your partner. I believe if you plan to fail you have planned to fail. I have read up on about 200 resorts in Africa that I intend to visit when next I am travelling for vacation. All these travelling scam artist trying to either induce people to travel or defraud them of their hard earned money. I visit Afroresorts as most of the details I got from them checked out on my last travel. Then I contact the resort to confirm availability. All these our over sabi naija travel agents are really not helping matters.

God bless each and everyone for your contribution. We were ready to go this morning but my hubby said why will such an organisation not have a customised phone number, four different personnel already called us within the space of 48hrs, he said they sound so desperate, so I immediately searched for them here as a Nairaland addict and gbam, I saw all these grin. They kept calling if we are still coming, I said yes. They called again if I'm Close by, I said I'm almoSt there while I roll on my bed here in Ajah.

The first problem I have with them is their lie, they told us on the phone while breaking their so called goodnews as a yearly raffle draw with over one thousand slips but just 22 were picked. Asking what my hubby does for a living (immediately he told them, the agent sounded so glad and he was like travelling shouldn't be a problem, your voucher will be ready (awon ole). I'm happy we didn't waste our fuel driving from Ajah to Ikeja with all these traffic gridlocks.

Once again, thank you guys. I read every comment on this thread and I discovered that their agents are here, but one thing is that none of them debunked the fact that the company is not what they tell people they are. But, their marketing strategy is something else, they even went far in lying #gosh undecided undecided

They are a scam! I got a text from them based on their form I filled when I went to shoprite informing me that I have been selected for a free holiday trip. That I should come for a presentation and also pick up my gift voucher. On getting there, truly I saw a fair number of innocent invitees just like me waiting to be called in for the presentation. However, prior to this time, I have been very very sceptical and careful giving out sensitive information about my work, family and location. Back to the presentation, they presented as stated and requested that before I can enjoy all the benefits they mentioned I need to drop half a million naira- lai lai! mmba! O boy, come and see the sweet talk, toasting and marketing, they did everything to get my hard-earned money and I said NO!

This confirmed my initial fear about them being a fraud because why the desperation. You told me I should come for a presentation and also pick up a gift voucher but never said I will drop that huge amount of money. What for? To further show that they are really really desperate they said I must drop something. To put it in their words, show a commitment. At this point, I had to use force with them querying why such immediate demand that common sense demand you give me time to think about it. I just got up and left hurriedly.

Nairalanders always shine your eyes! These scammers are now getting sophisticated and professional.

God help us!

Unfortunately, in the year of our Lord 2018, my elder brother has fallen victim with his 1.1million gratuity money. I'm crying right now, because the consequences is already affecting my own finances, if you know what I mean.

He never consulted me before taking this action. In fact, when I asked him what's the name of the company he paid money into, he said he can't remember. To tell you how dumb some people could be if you cannot remember the name of the company you paid a whopping 1.1million naira into.

Now, how do I tell him that he has been scammed?

Its a pity that because if the situation we found ourselves in Nigeria hardly could anything be believed. I was on the Internet to get more information about HEMINGWAY'S SAFARI AFRICA whose Programme made me spent 4 days free at SUMMER BAY EXPLORIA RESORTS Orlando, Florida. it was that exercise that led me to Nairaland postings on the outfit. Yes, HEMINWAY'S are very very expensive, in fact I discovered that now that I am exposed toTimeshare scheme. I joined HSA about 4 years ago. I was 'attracted' to th6eir scheme through their agent at Shoprite, attended their 'seminar' with my wife and lined after ther nerve racking 5 hours negotiation. I paid a whooping sum of =N= 1.8 million. unbelievably, I never utilized their holiday package despite full payment as my journeys are always sudden and that never work withe HSA program that u need to give advance notice. I have almost forgotten about the scheme when I had a telephone calls from a particular line which was not stored in my address book. I didn't pick it initially, as I don't pick unknown number, but when the calls persisted I did and Lo and behold it was HSA agent. They invited me again. I went few days later with my wife. I will like to believe that they never knew I fully paid, going by my non utilization of the scheme. But was shocked when I told them I paid the entire 1.8 million. Instantly they promised holiday accommodation vouchers in Kenya, SA, London and Florida etc. they tried to encouraged me to move my membership from Godl to Diamond I rejected it flatly. I told them to give me the free accommodation my Gold membership deserves. Because I was already billed to travel to Orlando Florida I picked that of SUMMER BAY EXPLORIA RESORTS Orlando. My vacation was for 7 days I had their 4 days reservation from 15th September 2015 to 19th September 2015 after which I planned to move to Holiday Inn Kissimmee. To be honest, I never believed it will work out but I assured myself that I won't be stranded because I have enough means to secure alternative accommodation with ease. Surprisingly, I was given the 4 nights accommodation at the resorts. I am not a believer in swearing or calling the name of God to justify my point. But I assure you all HSA is legit and the are real.now talking about cost they are very expensive. Talking about nature of interest (I mean benefit) they give theirs is far less than some categories of Timeshare that guarantee for ever ownership of holiday package. In 15 years now my 1.8 million will be gone. I am sure many busy messengers like me would have registered too without utilization, leaving HSA with idle funds. By the way HSA is a Kenya based company. Am still in Europe now for continuation of my vacation. I have no reason to lie. Unlike many advance countries, holiday club is not regulated by any statute in Nigeria living members to the whim and caprices of the organizers.
Am very sure your are one of their Staffs.
