We keep going back and forth, can't make up our minds!
As Kontagious said in the other thread, this post PPR phase is something else. After one headache comes another one. Lol.
I wish we had a close family member over there, the "where" decision would have been an easy one.

We're still looking at BC but the research keeps giving me all sorts. Vancouver: expensive no jobs, Abbotsford: drugheads, Victoria: expensive no jobs and on and on. Jobs are not an issue for me because I freelance, this is mainly for my husband.
And I'd really like for us to start life in a proper city then move to wherever we decide. Ayam tayad of the research jare.
We've looked at other provinces but we just keep returning to the beginning.

This is a clarion call to anyone in BC willing to take me under their wing, I be good pikin. Hep needed.
All that cold and snow of other provinces is scaring me s***less.

Pele, I can imagine. It is not an easy decision. Have you looked at Prince George, Surrey, Kelowna, Kamloops, Langley?

Eyha! Choice of city has major impact on a lot of factors. If you have made up your mind on living/settling in BC, what city to live in totally depends on you, your family/career and what your plan is. Google gives close but generic answers. Practically, there is nothing in Victoria (only has the title 'BC's Capital') compared to other known cities. I'm not sure one can explain all about different cities on this platform.

Thanks Gymme. The search continues I guess. One way or another, we'll pick someplace, just might not be BC anymore. If a location is throwing up so many reasons not to pick it, then I'd better respect myself and look elsewhere. It's looking like unrequited love, guy making shakara cry

hey. Probably about whether to send the kids' passport or not? You don't have to send their passports in. Just their passport photographs.

Here is a schedule for free tax clinics in Calgary run by volunteers. Recently landed immigrants in Calgary who would be filing their taxes for the first time may find this useful.

Nope. Things have changed. You need to send their passports too. There have been cases where people were asked to send their kids passports after leaving it out. I sent my daughter's own. It just won't be stamped

Good morning good people, is there someone on this thread that got married after ppr/copr and successfully added the spouse to their application and currently in Canada ?
I would appreciate some insight into how the process works. I am hoping to avoid spousal sponsorship therefore I am currently trying to get as much information that I'd need.

Thanks all.

Well, i only know about Accra. A family posted on nairaland, they were contacted to send their kids US passports to Accra and had to incur cost of sending and it also delayed their processing.

On the tax issue. Thanks

Hello All,

Please I need your guidance.

I am presently processing my Nigerian Drivers Licence. Due to the short time available before I travel to Canada, I may only get the Temporal Nigerian Drivers Licence (3 months validity) and the International Drivers Permit.

Please do you think I can use the International Drivers Permit, Temporal Nigerian Drivers Licence (3 months validity) and FRSC letter to process my Canadian Drivers Licence?

Kindly note that I intend to settle in Ontario and I have been driving for over 8 years in Nigeria (although just started processing a drivers licence).

Hello People,

Greetings from Toronto. I got in here 11 days ago, everything has been fine so far and hoping to get a job soon as i have done a telephone interview with a bank and I was told the second stage of telephone interview will hold next week.

I actually got a job 4 days after I landed as I had two stage interviews for a marketing job but I turned it down as it wasn't what I wanted, it was about marketing credit cards to people at stores and salary was based on commission meaning i only get paid based on the number of sales i make per day.

Anyway, I have a question to ask please. For a British citizen, does the person need to go through same process as we all went through writing IELTS, ECA etc for Express Entry or Provincial nomination to migrate to Canada or there is a special process for them being that they colonized Canada. Please anyone with similar experience should helpwith responses.

And please apart from SIN, BANK ACCOUNT, DRIVERS LICENCE, HEALTH CARD, is there any other thing one needs to register for?

Thank you

yes. British citizens have no special treatment whether at the application stage or after arriving in Canada. They go through the immigration process and integration challenges like everyone else.
