Hi friend. I believe it is not dead, people are probably engaged in other things too. Also, to keep it moving can't be a one-man thing. I created the thread, but that doesn't make me the owner. It is just an idea to bring us together and try helping our friends. Thanks for concern, it is valid.

It has been created. Although some of us are not members, but it doesn't prevent those interested from joining. I will remind anyone joining the whatsapp group to note the words of caution I included in the first post. All the best.

Would have preferred a younger lawyer. It's just for CAC related matter.

I want to determine if they still accept manual registration at their office in Osun State.

I really appreciate your prompt response. God bless Sir.

No. It is not a course on its own, but you will touch it briefly under a course (law in practice, I think). However, develop great interest in it, it is a great area of law and one of the current goldmines for lawyers who know their salt and onion.

I agree with you I find it interesting because both parties with the help of a neutral third party who must be skilled in such area of dispute agree on certain procedures to be adopted to reach an agreement favourable to both parties and both parties remain business partners without discord. It is void of technicalities as in the traditional litigation system.it has its advantages but one major disadvantage is its inability to decide criminal cases. So I urge lawyers to develop themselves and take interest in ADR mechanisms not forgetting the multi door court house.....I think ADR should be a course on its own because its scope is wide looking at binding and non binding ADR.

Good morning house, so the admin of this page @hidentity came to deliver a paper at the Nigerian law school Abuja on Thursday on career prospects for lawyers in Nigeria. Here are the few things I was able to pick when I joined in :
1. Hard work matters alot,. If you want to make it in the legal profession, you have to be hardworking and diligent to your work and you should also be alto work intelligently. In fact I heard tat if you can't read for 4hours right now, the legal profession is not for you. grin

2. That everything takes time. This is another important thing I also learnt that day that while it is normal to have expectations as humans, we ought to realise some things takes time to fall in place hence the dire need for lawyers to be patient and be prepared as opportunity can come knocking at anytime.

3 Importance of Networking can't be over emphasized in the legal profession.

4. Get yourself a mentor if you want to go far in the profession.

5. Chase discipline and hard work , the money will come knocking.

It was nice experience anyway coupled with the smirk on your face when you know the person delivering the speech( Even though I never knew the Admin in person until that day) , I got to know from the last name and the firm's name. cheesy

And yes I walked up to @hidentity and introduced myself as "XYZ from Nairaland" and pheeew.. .i got a business card wink.

Moral: This world is really small like they say as I never even thought I could meet the admin in that way.
