grin so Op with all these hardship in this Africa u still want to be fairer than people enjoying their lives in Almighty America. The state of health in humans is reflected on their skin to some degree, The polluted air, jedi jedi, herbal concotions, bacteria&viral infested foods we eat, too much heat, depression etc reflects on our skin. Even the Very dark Africans in America have shiny dark skin that is just a beauty to behold. Don't expect anything good from this shithole

Yeah, that is so true, their skin is absolutely beautiful, I love dark skin especially on men. Ok let me calm down, you're getting me all excited. grin

Nobody mistakes Trevor for a Mexican especially not African Americans, he looks absolutely nothing like a Mexican, that's just a dumb joke he made up because he was in California and the majority is Mexican. He has been mistaken for an African American or a Puerto Rican though. There are African Americans lighter than Trevor and they aren't biracial nor bleachers because for AA bleaching is rare and highly frowned upon.

"There are African Americans lighter than Trevor & they aren't biracial", how do you know? Because even African Americans as dark as Loni Love, have a percentage of European or other ancestry in their DNA, dating back to several branches down the family tree. Saw that in a segment of The Real. African Americans love tracing their DNA, it's almost on every one of your shows. I sometimes feel it's more than about just the African aspect, but about the other "more glamorous" ancestor grin Furthermore, all the African American celebrities who have gone for a genealogy test or those who made the results public, their results showed more than just their African ancestry. Meaning that, the people with fair complexion DO have traces of other races in their DNA, most definitely. It may not have happened recently, but a generation or so down the line. It's funny because you're here saying they're "not biracial" & yet African Americans are the 1st ones to claim other ethnicities, always saying things like, "I'm 2% Irish" etc. You take pride in being more than just African, let them not hear you say they aren't "biracial" grin Eyeroll.

Oh & African Americans DO bleach eg. Lil Kim etc. Not rare at all if you keep up-to-date with who's done what in the world of cosmetic surgery & what not. It's just done "codedly". Most are ashamed of their African roots or black features eg. the nappy hair vs. "good hair" debate. Watch them on the show Catfish, hiding their black selves behind exotic looking strangers. And always claiming "mixed" even when they look Sudanese, all because of 2% ancestry grin Colourism is a big issue in your community.

Just a couple to drive my point home-bleachers.

Hispanic doesn't mean Mexican and he doesn't look like a Mexican. Hispanics can be as dark as Akon, it only means that you come from a Spanish speaking country. The reason they thought that he was Puerto Rican is that he was in New York at the time and there are a lot of them there. By the way, Puerto Ricans are mostly black.

If you say so.

Some people do, not everyone. Depends on where their family lived.
I had African American next door neighbors, the husband's mother was half Chinese. They were from California. You will find Chinese ancestry in many people (black, white, Hispanic) if their ancestors lived in a state with high Chinese population. Oprah Winfrey turned out to have 8% Native American, 3% East Asian and 0% white ancestry:

"Before taking the DNA test, Oprah said she didn’t believe she had any European or Native American ancestors. Her test results showed her to be correct about the European ancestry (she had 0 percent), but wrong about the Native American part (8 percent). She also learned she was 3 percent East Asian."

https://blogs.ancestry.com/cm/the-surprising-facts-oprah-winfrey-learned-about-her-dna/?theme=ancestry-2016

I remember one episode of her show or perhaps it was an interview on that (can't remember which) & she claimed she was disappointed with the results. If I remember correctly, she has Liberian ancestry, but in her heart she's always felt like she's from South Africa, from the Zulu tribe to be precise because of her hips, she said. I wonder if she's ever visited her homeland Liberia. Because she seems to be still stuck on her South African connection, not that I blame her grin

Sidenote: In contrary to popular belief, the majority of the genealogy results show that most black Americans are in fact from Cameroon. They're of Bantu descent.

Yes there are African Americans lighter than Trevor who have black parents, black grand parents and black great grand parents who never seen a white Ancestry in the family just like the rest of us.

It always amazes me how some people can take the action of a few and link it with the actions of the whole. That would be like me saying that Africans worship whites just because Nigerians do.

Little Kim is not black America,. Just because you see some knuckle head on TV saying they are mixed with something only proves that you watch too much TV.

If someone black tells you their racial makeup it is obvious that they have African roots without them saying it. Try thinking for a moment, when those people take their Ancestry test they are surprised about the other races because they didn't know, you think they should be surprised about knowing that they are African, come on now, REALLY?

To add to that, they are happy and proud to learn what part of Africa they come from to the point of tears. If you are going to tell a story know the facts and stop going by what some idiots who are being paid to do and say on tv do and say.

What an idiot I would be to think that all Nigerians behave like those stupid characters in Nollywood movies.

1st paragraph, it can still go further down the line.

2nd paragraph, be amazed all you want because you also didn't consider generalization in your comment about bleaching. I noted the insinuation or rather the veiled snark.

3rd paragraph, doesn't change the fact that Americans bleach too. FYI, I read a lot too.

4th paragraph, of course they're not surprised about being Africa, but most are curious about where they come from in Africa. After all Africa is not a country but a big continent. Otherwise why would they be going through all that, just to know the obvious?

1. They/we have no control over what savage raped our ancestors.

2.You should note what is happening now not what some messed up people did to try to make life easier in this systematic racist country called America in the past. Why are you teaching your young girls to hate the skin they are in, you are in Nigeria, where are the Whites that are discriminating against Nigerians, WHY ARE YOU BLEACHING IN A NATION OF BLACKS?

3. African Americans do not bleach a lot, there are millions of African Americans and to say we are bleaching is a lie to make yourself feel better for the atrocities you are committing.

4. My point was, you are saying Africans Americans aren't proud of being Africans because of some people you saw on tv yet they are proud to know their African roots, you are being contradictory. Stop saying Africa is a continent when you are conversing with someone who knows, it makes you look condescending.

1. Did I say they do? I simply pointing out the obvious.

2. I'm South African. Bleaching is not much of an issue here because the majority of people are not dark. Some do bleach to fit in though. It's an insecurity/inferiority complex that some people have.

3. When you're talking about bleaching, you also need to be specific because not all Africans bleach eg. Sudanese & people from other African countries are known for their dark complexion. It has not changed from the status quo to date.

4. I'm not being contradictory because I clearly said, "Sometimes I feel the only reason they do it is..." & I gave my reason. It's my personal opinion because I've observed how you talk more about the smaller bits of your racial makeup, but not the bigger chunk of what makes you who you are.

Speaking of condescension: one of the reasons I decided to respond to your mention (I can't access my main account at the moment, the one you quoted) is because I've had exchanges with you in the past & every time I always got the sense that you were looking down your nose when stating your opinion. I may be wrong, but that's how you come across to me. So yeah, perception. You think I'm condescending, same here.

1. There is no reason for you to bring up white blood from over 150 years ago.

2. The majority of people are dark in South Africa and yes you have more pressing issues like Aids/HIV.

3. I believe I said Nigeria.

4. Your feelings/observations do not change the status quo. African, Americans are not into bleaching that would be an insult to our ancestors. I don't recall ever conversing with you and I am sure that I haven't unless you went by another name. Yes, you are wrong, I don't look down on anyone except for evil savages who belong in hell with their father The Devil.
