1) two men started from the same point and walked in opposite directions. each man walked for 50 minutes and turned left, walked for another 20 minutes and stopped. how far apart are they, if each man walked at the same rate of 6km/hr? |

Both are a total of 140 minutes apart. That's (50 ×2) + (20×2). They have a common speed of 6km/h. The problem is to find distance (in km) when Time is 140 mins ( or 2 hrs. 20 mins) and speed is 6km/h. Distance = speed × time. Therefore, distance between them is 2 1/3 × 6, that's 7/3 × 6 = 14 km  |

Sugar97: you will have two congruent right angled triangles in opposite direction but touching each other at the point of intersection of their respective hypothenus and adjacent (longest line). Their distance apart is twice the length of the hypothenus of one triangle 1 Like |
