Abia State Polytechnic Staff Go On Indefinite Strike, Protest 11 Months Non Salary Payment

The Abia State Polytechnic staffs and students are now on the streets of Aba protesting in solidarity with their lecturers and non academic staffs over 11 months of non payment of salaries, which gave raise to the ongoing indefinite strike.

Recall that the school management had threatened their entire staff, including the academic and non academic stuff with a memo detailing that any of their staff who chooses to go on strike should bear in mind that he or she will no longer be a staff of the school.

Regardless of the said threat, both the academic and non academic staff embarked on indefinitely strike today and as well protested in the streets of Aba over the governor's non payment of salary areas for 11 months and counting.

One year, no salary?

What it means is that for that one year, lecturers were living on bribes or sorting.

Imagine the number of not just half baked but raw dough graduates our education system is dishing out with the trend of this non payment of salaries.

11months of unpaid salary? This is totally uncalled for.
The appropriate authority should please do the needful.

It serves them right. 90% of the staff are from Ngwa that were clamouring that its their turn to rule Abia state. Ngwanu, keep ruling. Foolishness is not only when you act like a fool.

Enjoy it

Staff of all Higher institutions in Bayelsa State are also on strike due to
1. Subvention policy: the Bayelsa State governor decided to give subventions to state owned Higher institutions avoiding his responsibility to pay workers salaries
the workers said No, Subvention is a financial grant and not for payment of salaries.
2. Non implementation of promotion, no step increments. the workers are demanding for implementation of promotions, payment of all promotion arrears, payment of step increments arrears,
3. payment of all three months salary arrears of 2016.
4. sacking and unjust transfer of staff from an higher institution to nowhere.
staff transfer is voluntary and not by force etc
.
NLC is death in Bayelsa State. NLC that suppose to defend and fight for workers in the State is silent over the above issues, has failed woefully

That's the difference between holding the mantle and watching someone else do. Leadership no be beans.
