A team of real estate agents begged their manager to slap their faces as punishment to improve work performance in central China.

It's said the six male workers were criticised for their 'slack attitude' at the office and got asked to come up with a solution.

The workers can be seen standing next in lines and get slapped by a female manager in the face one by one.

Both the workers and the manager were said to be crying during the punishment.

Mr Hu who works at the real estate company told Huanqiu.com that the video was filmed during a monthly appraisal meeting in April.

He explained that the female manager was asking the agents 'what should the punishment be for not working hard'; the agents then asked the manager to slap them in the face.

The manager, said to be of the surname, Zhang, did not agree the punishment until the workers begged four, five times to do so.

The clip has been shared and posted on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, since then, and Ms Zhang was badly criticised by web users.



She had to resign and stayed at home to rest, according to Mr Hu.
