I've been watching Bollywood movies since I was a toddler and I've never seen any scene where a western or Indain preacher that adopted the religion of the west walks into a village, goes to a Hindu temple, confronts the Hindu priests, battles the Hindu gods, wins, burns down the temple and converts the entire village to Christianity.

I've been watching Chinese movies too since like forever and I've never witnessed a scene like that in any of their movies. Instead their religions and cultures and vigorously promoted in their movies.

But 80% of our Nollywood movies with plots set during the colonial era and even modern times have scripts like this; scenes of African gods being defeated by the white man's god.
Does it mean that the white man's god is powerless against Lord Shiva, Brahma, Lord Krishna, Buddha, and all the Asian gods?

Is it only when matched against the black man's gods that the white man's god is on top form?

Let me tell you something: Religion is nothing but a war of cultural identity and superiority.

And Africa lost the war totally.

The Indians and the Chinese held their gates.
They rejected every aspect of colonialism that sought to tarnish and belittle their cultural heritage.

That's why they stand proud today. Very proud and confident.

That's why you'll never find such scenes in their movies. Instead they are always promoting their culture and gaining converts from the west in the process. Many whites go on religious pilgrimage to India and other Asian nations, but little or none comes to Africa.

That's why you and I will never see anything wrong with a samurai, ninjas, kong fu, tai chi, yoga and all the things we see in movies from the lands of the rising sun.

Heck, Most of us wanted to be ninjas after watching Five Elements of Ninja and American Ninja, as kids.

The fact that ninjas are historically soulless blood thirsty assassins used by Japanese emperors to inflict fear and death on rebellious provinces didn't even matter. We all loved them regardless.

But the very sight of a dibia in a Nollywood movie would send negative signals to our brains.

Why do we always portray our cultural heritage in a negative light?

Yes, they were crude and barbaric; evil even.
But which ancient culture wasn't?
Even the bible and Quran cultures you hold so dearly are no exceptions.

It's funny how a lot of Africans still believe the white man gave them Christianity to save their souls and bring them salvation.

I laugh in 400 years of black slavery and subjugation.

Given how the white man treated our ancestors, like animals, how on earth are you people able to convince yourselves that they gave a Bleep about the black man's soul.

We were animals without souls to them!

Don't you see that you're still slaves?

It's 2017, the white mans world is working on innovative ideas. But Nigerian Facebook is lit with arguments of church tithes and offering or how to speak in tongues.
Is this how we're going to be great?

I've said this before and I'll say it again.

"Slavery never left Africa. They just removed the chains from our bodies and bound our minds with them".

Saw the fb post too. Was touched by the writers' rage. We lost it, religion is the second form of slavery. Our esteemed medical practitioners of those days were called witch doctor because the white couldn't understand. I showed my dad a video of brain surgery conducted in the 18th century somewhere in Zambia. Even the commentator was marvelled at the survival rate of 98% after such procedures.

We left our belief system as it was demonized, our medicine and just about everything else.

Today we travel to India, the Hindu people for health and rush ginseng like one ever going pill.

Indeed Africa lost it. Now even married and single Christian couple practice yoga. To them it's not demonic, lots of karate schools cuz we love Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

We love Tai Chi, Love Kung-fu movies and the Chinese spiritual messages they promote. I've been an advocate that nolly wood needs to be totally restructured, our mumu and shameless ignorance has taken over the industry, no wonder nobody watches it except blind and deluded Africans.

I want to play the devil's advocate here by saying I've watched Yoruba movies where no Jesus was used to triumph over the local gods

I've seen several ones where all they did was visit the baba to tell them the source of their issues, they're told what the problems are and they tackle it accordingly which sometimes gives them the solution or otherwise

I must add however that I've NEVER seen such plotlines in Igbo movies, it could be that I just haven't come across such rather than they not existing

Some people believe you need Christian names to be complete. I don't have a Christian name and one of my aunt once complained about it long ago, she said that I need to get baptized and have a Christian name back then, I was a Christian then and really considered having a biblical name as my middle name, thank goodness I didn't. That's what I was telling my friends yesterday, they said you are not doing any of the two religions, why? I replied "would you mind telling me the number of religions we have on earth? Christians and Muslims are too judgmental when it comes to afterlife as if they have been to heaven or hell before.

I tell you my brother, so God will favor one nation against other nations. God will have all human emotions like unleashing His Wrath on certain people and His blessings on the other. The Creator doesn't reason the way we humans are reasoning. Personally, most religions are organized in a way to enslave people's mental capabilities.
