The reasons some women IN NIGERIA do that:

1. To escape sexual harassment from both single and married Nigerian men. We all know most Nigerian men are sexual perverts who think every woman's body is there for their personal sexual gratification.

2. To escape unnecessary marital pressure from society, family, acquaintances and friends especially when the lady in question doesn't feel ready to get married yet.

3. To escape mockery, scorn and downright disdain from the obnoxious Nigerian society all because of her single status.

4. To avoid men altogether for ladies who really don't desire marriage or have a phobia/fear for marriage and/or sexual intercourse as a result of rape or sexual abuse that occurred during their childhood.

5. To avoid men because they are not sexually and emotionally attracted to MEN. Example: Lesbians and misandrists.

6. To avoid Nigerian men specifically and allow them buy time to hook up with a man from a different race, nationality or culture where women are treated better in marriage than what obtains in Nigerian marriages.

7. To avoid Nigerian men while they plan their escape route out of shithole Nigeria where nothing works and hardship, chaos, boko harm, fulani herdsmen, cultism, high rate of fatal car accidents, high unemployment rates, poor healthcare system, erratic power supply, high cost of living and very poor wages are the order of the day.

You are obvious right,from my empirical observations,I have observed that most of them are that does that are into serious relationship and some of them actually do it to scare off some men more expecially married men by like single men are excluded,smiles. We are polygamous is nature and we can't resist our eyes from the smart and lovely single ladies,smiles..my girl do the same and I am not against it because I know the obvious reason why she does that.

I did it like 8 yrs ago when I was in the university. My reason, I made up my mind not to date anyone in school, and so that I won't be tempted as I was In a serious relationship.

Most ladies won't die single.. You know why? She hustling on her own, the guy too is hustling on his own.. When both make it, one day somehow somewhere they get to meet by chance in a top shopping mall or an event meant for upcoming entrepreneurs or top executives in various companies and guess what? Don't u know such social meeting is so sweet, and intriguing. Love sparks, both can hold it on their own.. No one is leeching on anyone..

Most wear the rings just to gain respect. Some of them believe there's this respect accorded married women, so they want to enjoy that too. This is utterly stupid if you ask me. Married or not, you'll be respected if you behave responsibly.

Another reason is Fashion. They think it is fashionable wearing the rings.

Hahaha reminds me of a time two years ago when this guy was sizing me up at a parking lot when I drove in... got out of the car and he started approaching me slowly and unsurely.. then the next thing he noticed was a ring i had on and immediately asked what the ring was for... i dont remember what i said... told him the department i was working at and he said he would come see me, HE DIDNT since then i always wondered if it was the ring... mind you that ring was just a piece of jewellery i borrowed from a friend
