This is very serious, what this means is that there is problem with the auto section of nairaland, if it is not lemon sold as clean title, it is overpriced car, accident and flooded cars sold as clean title or entirely non existent cars with intent to defraud. This is the same everywhere, both olx, cheki and jiji. There is need to sanitize nairaland auto section, if not we are sitting on a time bomb. I support those who have taken it upon themselves to do this and save innocent car naive Nigerians buyers of their hard earned money. I totally support and I am for this.

Why can't Nigerian dealers be like this japanese car dealer beforward.com who painstakingly shows accurate pictures and stats about the cars that he is selling.

It is a shame that those who have built reputation on this forum can actually be involved in this. One needs to be cautious.

Those can all be retrofitted aftermarket with little difficulty.

I'm sure it was sold for a Lil less than 2m making it seem like a Steel deal

it's so sad the level of greed in the system

seller would be like: I'm selling this car for 1.990 because I need money, this grade is 2.5 last!

buyer would be like: thank you so much sir I really appreciate, OK take this 5k extra for ur lunch.

1month after, buyer will be dancing to unknown tunes in his vehicle and will blame the villagers who are striving to survive

Please how do i check out the history of these cars to be sure of what I'm going into. Someone is offering a Camry SE 07 for 2.6m. However, the car was cleared exactly a year ago and i was wondering why a car like camry will take such a long time on the shelf; if indeed there are no issues with it. Looking forward to your urgent response. Thanks

Maybe that's not the first accident.

I was at my mechanic's workshop sometimes ago and a 2013 Highlander was brought in right from the port,. The car is so damaged, the trunk, lights, suspension, front and back passenger doors. Hood, etc were gone and everything needed to be replaced. All airbags deployed even the whole curtain airbags and the ones on the seats and the knee airbag. The dealer told me he was going to sell the car for 9 million after fixing it. Asked if he was gonna fix the airbags he said no way that they are going to cover all the airbag spots and nobody would know airbag was deployed. His reason being cost of fixing the airbag was too expensive.

My question is why would someone shell out 9m to buy a car with no functional airbags. And the would be owner would think he bought a good recent car that is safe not knowing the only thing protecting him is God and seatbelts. A few weeks later I saw the car again and my goodness I couldn't believe the transformation. It looked like it was never accidented, but still had no airbags and someone will pay good money for that.

The poster of these cars below is one the dealers here on nairaland that's doing the necessary, i like checking his adverts.

Some of his cars have crashed(minor), but he gives details in pictures right from the point of purchase, foreign soil to the stand here in Nigeria.

Some nairalanders even commends him.

Auto dealer calculux is being referred to in this one.

From ordinary bumper crash to broken head lamps, side mirrors or anything replaced.

Disclose every detail to your buyers.

I wish Nairaland and Mods can make it compulsory for car sellers here to always post the VIN of the cars they're selling.
