Sometimes we have to take things easy and thread with caution.

The police has warned Nigerians about placing adverts to house helps and personal drivers in public places and adding their personal data which could be used by criminals to endanger their lives:

As tweeted:

Is this how you employ your driver to drive ur expensive car? Your maid to take care of your precious children?THIS APPROACH IS DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. These staff could escape with your car and children or burgle your home . Always do due diligence.

And there i was wondering if my vocabulary was actually deficient since i didn't have a clue what 'Adafor' was!

These people placing ads for house helps and such....don't they have extended family in the village they can bring to the city to help them? Isn't that the way our parents did it?

Placing ads for drivers, cooks and house helps only works well in countries that have everyones details and work/criminal history on record. But in Nigeria where you don't know who's who, and where impersonation is rife, you stand the risk of letting a Freddy Krueger character into you home! shocked

They should also warn those GNLD fraudsters to stop posting vacancy advert with salary of 70k per week.

The information is still vital. How about those that come online looking for them.

Nice one from the police. If we can be getting security tips from them like this, it will go a long way and somehow change their reputations.

Very cheap and you might be interested www.nairaland.com/4543541/neat-samsung-s7-edge-4gb

It is usually more profitable both financially and in terms of peace of mind to employ a competent stranger than an extended family member.

such jobs are based on referrals . its not advisable to place a job advert online when someone you know very well can help you get a maid who he/she trusts and can vouch for that he or she is a good person and knows their roots well

Life is not always that straight forward for most people. Yes it's always better to get helps through referrals, there are still many instances in which one may not really have a choice. And don't forget that the term "trust" itself is a retrospective diagnosis. Irrespective of the where he or she came from, I believe the most important thing is to be diligent enough as regards background check, screening for common illnesses and diseases, and a thorough interview.

Police got this right. In Nigeria situation right now placing such advert is very dangerous Nigeria is very hot red right now.
Re: Police Warn Over Placing Adverts For Drivers And Maids In Public by JerryQ: 10:08am On Jun 10, 2018
Good Move but they haven't gotten the real picture yet. Over here in my state of residence, over 90% of such adverts are scam. You call the number and they start their 419 talk. I was actually expecting the Nigerian Police force to follow up on the numbers and see if they are scammers or for real. This is one way to fight corruption, let the scammers know they are not safe to just paste things like that. They can also extend their reach to online type of those adverts.

How would you know the the right person when you cannot verify their information nor do a background check? Should the right person disappear with your car...your child...your possessions... do you really think the info you give to the police will be useful to them?
Sorry...you're right..... there is no other way ...it must be by advertising to the public....absolutely no other way.
