Was part of the Lagos Red Umbrella Walk on Saturday. To raise awareness concerning the Sickle Cell, we started the walk from Teslim Balogun Stadium to Ojuelegba Under Bridge, to Itire Road, to Ogunlana Drive, to Marsha Road then back to the Stadium.

The Sickle Cell disorder is inherited blood condition that is transferred from parents to their children that affects red blood cells. People with Sickle Cell disorders have red blood cells that become hard and pointed, get stuck and cause great pain.

Do check for you and your children's genotype in a good lab/hospital.

Do get proper genetic counseling if you and your partner have the AS genotype or one has AC genotype.

Do shoe love and support to those with Sickle Cell. They are just like everyone else and can live well and have successful lives once well managed.

Do Help advocate for Sickle Cell policies, newborn screening and free medications / treatment for people with Sickle Cell disorder.

Do take your drugs, drink plenty of water, avoid extreme cold or heat and the doctor regularly if you have Sickle Cell disorder.

Do support organizations that help people with Sickle Cell disorder.

Why go through the pain when you can avoid it? The real question. If you say it's love, e go soon clear. If you think you have fund for medication, the stress and lack of peace nko. Please pity the unborn children, if the genotype isn't compatible, LET GO.
